Didn't The Isley Brothers make some fab music?

This song is ruined by the worst lead guitar I've heard on any song ever. It makes my toes curl...

Its cheesy but gotta disagree, its part of the song's charm IMHO

I love Ernie's tone on this!

I remember hearing it when I was about 12-13 and thinking how great it sounded amongst the dross on the radio at the time.

And let's not forget their roots - one of my all time favourite Motown numbers:

I have an original copy of this on 7", one of my treasured possessions :)

Memorable time while rehearsing with a rock band that played AC/DC, Deep Purple, Bon Jovi etc.

I started playing Harvest for the World while casually strumming a spare acoustic. The whole band pounced on it there and then and it turned into a glorious 10 minutes of improvised harmonies and sensitive playing.

Fantastic memories playing a great song.

Hope you feel better love - Ernie had another go at that solo in this one.

One of the funkiest numbers....

I'll see you It's Your Thing, and raise you the lesser known Holding On. I only discovered this track buried in the middle of their 50 track greatest hits, most of which I hadn't heard but are awesome.

I love the Isley's. Great band, great musicians.

What a run of classic albums - so consistent.

Just goes to show - one man's meat and all that. I've always loved that solo and that creamy phase 'n' fuzz tone.

Great thread, Clarky - cheers :)

Can't embed/won't embed, but 'Behind a Painted Smile' contains one of my favourite snare drum sounds and a stroke of genius to stick that bit on the end.

+1

Loved the Isley's Motown output - especially 'Take some time out for love' which I think was the follow up to 'This old heart of mine'.
Think they often get a bit overlooked when people refer to Motown's legacy.
