Amplifier trolleys - your suggestions

Hi all!

I have just bought a (relatively) lightweight cabinet - a Euphonic Audio NL-210 which weighs in the region of 40-45lbs. My aim was to pop it on some sort of 2/4 wheel trolley and be able to take it on the bus/train/tube to wherever I need to go, since it allows me to depend on using the car a little less for most non-function gigs. What would everybody suggest? I've looked at almost everything and did actually order a huge holiday-style suitcase from Tesco direct that then turned out to be at least 10cm smaller each side than what the website said! Hence, holiday luggage is pretty much ruled out as none of them seem to be big enough. I've just come across something called the Kinsman Multi Loader:

Which looks good, but I don't know if the wheels look sturdy/comfortable enough to walk along pavements and roads?

This also looks good, but this only looks suitable for just amp lugging between cars and venues

I used to have a small Trace Elliot Commando combo which was a lot heavier than it looked. I fitted something like this to it:

Aaaahhh...a trolley that you actually fit onto the cabinet? A smart idea! Can I be open minded and ask you how you fitted it?

That's what's fitted to the Ampeg Portabass cabs. Works ok for some things, but wheels are too small for rough floors.

and they're excellent. Don't know the cab you got but they have a range of styles.
If you buy it m/o from Thomann in Germany you'll get it for a fair bit less than in the UK.

Not sure if this would do but I bought a 'toe-truck' from Wickes a few years back though couldn't find the exact thing online.
Here's something very similar that Maplins are doing (£19.99, normally £34.99).
Folds to a good compact size and I imagine the rubber wheels will be far more suited to street use.

Unless you're absolutely dead set on getting a cart than you can permanently attach to the cab, I'd go for one of these:

I've been using mine for at least 5-6 years and it's still going strong - even through the snow last night. Cabs I've taken on mine are a heavy Ashdown BP1510 (1x15 and 2x10 in the one cab) or a Euphonic Audio VL-208 and Ashdown Mini15 or currently 2 Epifani UL-112 cabs with a Markbass LMK head in a rackbag. These things take a lot of weight no problem, and given that they're now reduced to £15 from the £25 I paid for mine, it's even less of a worry if you happen to leave it behind at a gig.

I avoided the ones where the wheels fold in as well as invariably they can do that while you are transporting your gear.

I have something similar but with wheels that don't fold in, telescopic handle and fold down footplate

Not that this a 'best trolley competition' (or is it? ) but I would just say that in the years I've had mine, the wheels have never folded in on me when transporting any cabs etc.
If anything, the weight keeps them in place. I just prefer it as it all folds flat for packing with the rest of my gear into the back of my car or for storage at home.

I'm going to have a really serious look at the links - Gareth and Stingray5, I'm not completely dead set on permanently attaching a cart to the cab and to be quite honest I'd be more up for one that doesn't. Those carts actually look really good for what I need and are currently my top favourites to buy. Cheers all! Now I just need to get a cab cover

The one I posted looks like it attaches to a bracket or something you fit to the cab, but the one I had (which I couldn't find by googling) was fitted permanently & also came with feet for the front of the cab to level it up. The handle was telescopic so the amp didn't look too much like one of these at the gig:

The foldable wheels are a bonus for me, and only fold in (slightly) when you're reversing. I drive a Ford Focus C-Max, and the boot perfectly takes my two Epifani cabs and the 2U rack bag side by side with barely an inch of space left - it's the neatest fit. The folding truck then sits flat on top of the cabs. Me likey a lot. And the bigger wheels are great for pulling the weight up a few steps when needed.

Try one of these. It's more expensive but the is a bar that fits between the wheels to stop them folding in. I've had one for several years and it's saved many a strained back.

Hope it's OK to revive this topic... I am looking for one and all the links in this thread no longer work or the products no longer exist! Any up-to-date 2014 advice would be very highly appreciated! I have seen people using slightly elevated ones, so the amp isn't right next to the ground... Any idea where I might find one?

Fishing trolleys are they way to go heavy duty easy to pull and have a nice wide platform for the cab to sit on can be picked up on ebay for a good price also

I still like this design personally. Lightweight, strong and still folds fairly compact. I get my trace combo and SWR extension cab on together no problem.

I bought a little foldup porter trolley from Maplin for as many peanuts as you can get for £19.
I hope yours is better. Mine states 70Kg load, but my 13Kg Markbass is already too much. However it turned out perfect for my little "portable PA" thing that I use for busking

That looks good, but the Thomann one above has a much wider base that I suspect would work better with cabs. I'm very tempted to get one!
