The Very Definition of "Optimistic"

Oh no the listing keeps going!

. "The ones that have spoken up said it's probably worth $400-600 as is right now. (In comparison of actual playing quality.) If you add the rarity & collectability to it, most likely $1,400 to three or four grand. They said my best bet is to market the professional musician & true collectors on Ebay. They said avoid any & all criticism from resellers as they may not get a return on investment; someone will pay your asking price. Said start high & over priced"

wow. :-)

Leaving aside the seller's obvious mental health issues (unless of course it's an elaborate joke), this is actually very interesting for a 70s Jap P copy - assuming it's not a refinished bitsa, which I'm inclined to think it's not. Neck looks bound as well as blocked: J copies are almost always blocked & bound, but I've never seen this on the few Ps with block inlays that have come up - these have been unbound. I wonder if it's actually Jazz proportions as well.

The all-black finish (including the neck) with maple board is another new one on me, in fact I can't think of another Jap Fender copy with a painted neck, never mind the board material.

It's actually a really cool bass - suffice it to say if this was £50 on gumtree and within a 15-mile radius, I'd probably buy it.

I worked in a music shop back in the 80's and there were quite a few low end Japanese factories knocking out "brand it yourself" products in the same way that the Chinese factories do now ("order a £5k container of guitars and we'll print whatever name you want on the headstock...").
If I'd seen this back then my immediate reaction would have been "looks alright, but is it cheaper than that Kay that I'm selling for £79 ?"...

He's got a similarly optimistic/mentally challenged/archly comic (delete to fit personal theory) mate in Bath:

And you even get STICKERS with this one! :)

It isn't a Gibson but if you were 10 feet away from the stage it would be difficult to hear or see the difference.

...unless the light unfortunately showed the rippled paint effect on the Humbrol painted headstock...

I'm off to the carboot next weekend to find myself a few grands worth of guitars for a tenner - couple of those a month and it'd sure beat working for a living :)

I highly recommend it - although my biggest success so far has been punting a 1963 Watkins Rapier for £250. Paid £6 for it but it needed a lot of restoration. :)

I was thinking a Courtroom, Judge's retiring room, and a Jury room. :)

Mind you, he doesn't actually specify that it's a 3-piece suite ...
