Good Grief! Imagine reimagined!

Sorry to see you've been experiencing issues with your Ric. I bought a 2018 4003s a few months ago in Midnight Blue and it's a fantastic bass. I tried as many as I could get my hands on before committing to purchase the one I ended up with. Based on that experience, there are noticeable differences between each instrument. I'm happy to say that I found a good one - i'd go as far as to say it is flawless unlike every other Ric I tried as part of my search. The rear pickup isn't wonky, the finish is perfect, the neck is dead straight with a low action and no fretbuzz, it intonates perfectly and yes, it has THAT tone. I've left the pickup guard on. It took a while to get used to it being there but following some adjustment of my playing style i'm happy with it being there and to me it looks right! BTW, the earthing wire on the rear pickup on my bass isn't visible. It looks like someone's been messing around. I'm wondering if Reidys removed the pup cover for some wanting to try the bass out without it and didn't replace it correctly? Hope your replacement bass meets expectations. Let us know how you get on.

I A/B tested the distortion sound on the Metaphors alongside a bass big muff pedal and they both sounded very similar to my ears. I believe the treble & bass eqs are boost only. Hope that helps.

Just picked one of these up from my local PMT. Yes, there are pedals out there that may do it better than this but £39....! Tried it at rehearsal last night and it works perfectly for what I wanted it to do (DI, distortion, compression and the ability to blend the dry signal in with the processed signal). As a follow up from this, did the op buy a Ric? If so, what did you go for a 4003 or a 4003S? I currently have an inexplicable desire to buy a Ric and am struggling to decide between the 2 models. Played both yesterday. The 4003 is just classic so the preferred option however the stripped down 4003S is arguably more comfortable in a gig situation. To be fair, I was sat down so need to return and put them on a strap.

Just had the opportunity to meet up with Dan at a motorway services. Dan had bought my Fender Precision and this was the agreed location for the handover. He was running a little early so phoned to suggest we meet at the next services along the motorway. This would have saved me a good 20 miles. As it turned out, I was already at the agreed spot so we met up early. Really thoughtful suggestion though and greatly appreciated. The deal couldn't have gone any smoother. Matt has bought my Radial Tonebone Bassbone V2 (two channel preamp) and everything went smoothly. Communication was first class and the funds were transferred immediately. Just had the pleasure of meeting Sean & his son Robin in a pub car park transaction Lovely guy with good comms leading up to the deal. Robin bought my 5 string Harley Benton bass from me. He's not been playing long and I get the impression that Sean will be glad to get his hands back on his bass now that Robin has one of his own.
