  1. It is indeed a very comfy neck profile. I also have a 2012 American Standard Jazz which is narrower at the nut but the neck is more chunky front to back. The Precision is slightly wider at the nut but the neck is slimmer front to back. They both feel different to each other but they are equally 'right' - to me anyway. I've never struggled to get on with either.
  2. Yep, the previous owner had the original nut replaced with a metal nut - forgot to mention that in the original post. It's been done to a very high standard. There are no dead spots or sustain issues anywhere on the neck. There is a great balance across all 4 strings all the way up the neck.
  3. ***Sold*** Up for sale is my Harley Benton B550 5 String 'Deco' bass. 2 Humbuckers, active/passive with a 2 band eq (and passive tone control). When it arrived, the 'issue' was a very low action with the strings rattling on the frets. A trussrod tweak sorted that out and I was left with a bass that punches way above its weight (which is 3.8kg or 8 1/2 lbs in real money). It is way better than a bass costing this little has any right to be. I am including a Thomann padded gigbag (which cost almost as much as the bass lol). I have been a bit creative and designed and made a scratchplate for it which I think really helps with the looks. The battery for the active preamp is included saving you around £1.50. I will post if required however at a cost of £25.00 you probably wouldn't want to bother! I'm in Bolton Lancashire if you wish to collect. Only trade I would consider would be a 4 string Wal with cash my way
  4. PRICE REDUCED - NOW £750. Now sold. Thanks for all the interest. Up for sale is my 2015 Fender American Standard Precision bass in the best colour combo - Olympic white/Rosewood/Tort. This is a lovely bass in great condition. There are no issues whatsoever and it plays beautifully. The only marks on the bass are the usual markings on the scratchplate from use. It weighs in at 3.7kg (8 1/4 lbs) so, on the lighter side. It comes with a genuine Fender deluxe hardcase. Unfortunately there is no case candy present. I'm not looking for any trades at the moment - sale only. I'm based in Bolton, Lancashire. I can post if required for £25.00 courier fees.
  5. Price drop - £180 including UK shipping. I bought this brand new a couple of months ago however my needs have changed so I'm giving someone else the opportunity to benefit from my change in circumstance. It is in as new condition as I have only used it 3 times. Complete with power supply, manual and box. I didn't even stick the 'feet' on and it was not attached to a pedal board (i.e. no Velcro). These are priced at just under £300 new. https://www.gear4music.com/Guitar-and-Bass/Radial-Tonebone-Bassbone-V2-Bass-Preamp/16BH?origin=product-ads&campaign=PLA+Shop+-+GENERIC&adgroup=GENERIC&medium=vertical_search&network=google&merchant_id=1279443&product_id=54845d1&product_country=GB&product_partition_id=127211954479&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI2OKFz6Kw2gIVTbXtCh3w8wCHEAQYAiABEgJQdPD_BwE "Designed to offer maximum flexibility in a small package, the Radial Bassbone V2 Bass Preamp is the ultimate bass control centre. Featuring a two-channel preamp, effects loop, combination power boost/mute footswitch, 3-band EQ and even a piezo-optimised input for upright bass, the Bassbone V2 is perfect for both live performance and studio recording." Price includes UK shipping. The pedal is awesome but no longer needed by me. I'm based in Bolton.
  6. I have just spent a very pleasant hour or so chatting to Roon at his place when he exchanged cash for my EBMM 25th Anniversary bass. What a top chap! We could have chatted for hours but we both had other places we needed to be. Interesting guy and very knowledgeable on all matters bass & music related. I would have absolutely no hesitation in dealing with him again. Thanks for the brew mate and I hope you enjoy your new bass.
  7. Thanks Dave. The HPF on the Bassbone has no effect when engaged so the feedback frequencies must be above 175hz. The HPF on my amp must be set higher as that helps a bit (but I then lose some bottom end). Amp is a Genz Benz STL9.0 into a Bergantino HD210. Not tried raising it off the floor yet. Having said that, I ran a line out of the Bassbone into the desk and isolated the amp (so just going through FOH). Same feedback issues. I'm using a J-Tone piezo pickup and the strings are Innovation Golden Slaps. Band is a 6 piece with guitar, drums ( kickdrum registers a signal on my amp when kicked), keys, sax and vocals. It was never going to be quiet!
  8. Thanks for the replies. I've just bought a FBD off ebay (which I can use on my PA monitors). When it arrives, i'll give it a go with the DB & report back. I'm thinking the signal path will be DB into Bassbone into FBD, into amp. As The Rev points out, I think it will work from a feedback suppression point of view but may remove some important frequencies that will render it useless. Should have bought a Tonebone Pz Pre for the notch filter & phase switch rather than the Bassbone. Doh!
  9. Just wondering if any of you guys have used a feedback destroyer with the DB? I need to play at a fairly loud volume and feedback is a real issue. I have some f-hole blockers on the way which should help (possibly solve the problem) but just thinking that a FBD may also be a belt and braces solution. I have successfully used FBD's in FOH & monitoring situations in the past with PA and wondered if there is any reason why this wouldn't work in the DB signal chain?
  10. You're in the Lake District? Promenade Music in Morecambe is worth a visit. They usually have a good range of basses in stock.
  11. Why not send a message to Big Poppa telling him you're popping in to see him to demonstrate some 'worthwhile upgrades' that can be made to his basses with a view to publicising them on the MM forum. I'm sure that work work a treat and give you full access to the facility.
  12. Indeed. Arguably the role of the bassist in most bands. It's our job to lay down a solid foundation so the guitarists, vocalists and occasionally drummers can be 'creative'.

  14. Thanks for all the replies Gents. Loads of great advice that I hadn't considered such as the number of handles and positions for loading in/out of the car and the wheels seem like a great idea on flat surfaces. I've measured my bass (thanks Pete) and have just placed an order with Gear4music for the Westbury BC003: https://www.gear4music.com/Woodwind-Brass-Strings/Westbury-Deluxe-Padded-3-4-Double-Bass-Gig-Bag-with-Wheels/1MBI Bit more than I was expecting to spend but I figured that moving a DB around can be a painful experience if you're struggling. TBH I was going for the Gewa BS25 as I really like the look of this bag and it seems to compare well with the Westbury but no bugger has them in stock! Also, the number of recommendations for the Westbury cannot go ignored. Thanks again guys. Think I've made the right choice.
  15. I am about to start rehearsals with a new band where I will get the opportunity to use my DB for the first time outside the house. Looking forward to it. I have a J-Tone pickup on order but also need a gigbag. Storage space is at a premium at home so something that will fold would be a real bonus. There are 2 that I am considering... A Gewa BS01: https://www.bassbags.co.uk/product/gewa-pure-double-bass-gig-bag-classic-bs-01/?attribute_pa_size=100&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI-tOpypmv2AIVSLHtCh2FmQCVEAQYASABEgINWPD_BwE or a Hidersine: https://www.bassbags.co.uk/product/hidersine-double-bass-case/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIp9WQspqv2AIVS7vtCh2dJQlWEAQYASABEgLgzPD_BwE The Gewa has 3mm thick padding & the Hidersine has 20mm thick padding. I'm guessing the Gewa will fold easily and smaller than the Hidersine but will 3mm thick padding be enough? Any other recommendations (in a similar price bracket)? Thanks in advance.
  16. It's on my list to watch when I'm finished with 'Sons of Anarchy'. Thanks for the heads up.
  17. Buy your daughter a cheapie for Christmas and nab your Bose back
  18. Not played one or seen one in the flesh but I had a look on YouTube where Robert Plants bassist was doing a review. Worth a watch. The humbuckers are coil tapped so single coil tones are available. Not in the market for another bass at the moment but, like others, I'm really tempted at this price. Absolute bargain for a full American made Gibbo with hard case.
  19. Yes it is! Autocorrect is my excuse however it's probably more to do with posting on here on a phone whilst sitting on the bog! Glad there were no 'soles' living in there!
  20. "And American businessmen buy up Van Gogh's for the price of a hospital wing".
  21. In a similar vein "shorter of breath, one day closer to death". And "we're just two lost soles swimming in a fish bowl, year after year". And "but for the price of tea and a slice, the old man died". Class.
  22. Looking good. Looking VERY good in fact. 100% agree that the Kickass works much better on a Jazz. Love the colour scheme too. Classy!
