Just enjoyed a trouble free and very pleasant transaction with Mark. I sold him a Hipshot Kickass bridge. Agreed to the purchase within minutes of it being advertised and paid immediately. Great communications all the way through. I wouldn't hesitate in highly recommending him for any transaction. Thanks Mark - greatly appreciated.
2. Mudpup - fully agreed. It's a cracking version to play. I played this in my previous band. Excuse the quality. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W3FHa9zp_fY
3. I like the FM version. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qsdhd7SJ3TA
4.
I tried out a set of these on a custom built Chris McIntyre bass last week at Chris' workshop in Edinburgh. Great sounding strings. Really full, but not dull like the LaBella black tape strings. There white / clear strings still have loads of definition.
Thanks Kevin. These are now sold. Thanks to everyone for the interest.
5. This was fitted to a Precision but would probably suit a Jazz better (for that Geddy Lee vibe). £40 inc postage to UK. Details here: http://www.bassdirec...ge_bridges.html
6. These came on a precision I bought off here. Great strings but lacking the bite I like from roundwounds. La Bella call them white but they are actually transparent. You can see the stainless steel core through them. Cut for a Precision or Jazz and in good condition. Plenty of life left in them. I believe these are the standard gauge - .060, .070, .094, .115. £15 inc postage. I don't have the original packaging.
7. I have 2 tickets available for Shed Seven & Cast who are on in Blackburn on Monday 4th December. I bought these ages ago and now it clashes with my daughters graduation so I'm unable to go. Ticket price is £24 (+ £3 'service charge - whatever that means') each. I'll let these go for £30 for the pair. Gutted actually as this will be a great gig
8.
Eventually somebody born in '66 with the money will be along and snap this up.
I was born in 1964 and I would love to own this bass. No funds though.
9. And playing a short scale 6 string bass too - well done sir. Most folks of a certain age are traditionalists.
10. That sort of behaviour was more prevalent in the '80's so maybe the perpetrators were joining in with the retro theme? Similar to punk gigs where the audience pogo and gob at each other. Not acceptable then but more common and not acceptable now but thankfully less common.
11. But Hutton, Gretna Green is in Scotland - point them down there and family finances stay intact Lovely looking bass - GLWTS
12. A bass I took in a trade had a Kickass fitted. Really good bit of kit that is beautifully engineered. I like to have things as close to standard as possible though aesthetically speaking so replaced it with the original bridge which is good (but not as good as the Kickass). I may keep it and stick it on a Jazz bass to mimic the Geddy look.
13. The need for a backup bass is good justification to ourselves for owning more than 1 bass. Then you need a backup for the backup......!
14. A Jazz bass on front pickup will sound close enough to a Precision in the mix so could act as a backup. It will of course give you different tones should you want them therefore adding variety. It's also nice to own a P and a J.
15. Dave and I have just had a 'service station' bass exchange experience. I parted with my Stingray HH and Dave said goodbye to his Precision & some cash. Great bloke to deal with. Lots of helpful and promptly replied to communication. Genuine, honest and pleasant. Deal with in total confidence. Hope you enjoy your new bass Dave.
16.
Nooooooooooooooooo!!!!!@ Glwts dude
Sorry Markus, traded this evening for a lovely precision bass. Thanks to you and others for the interest.
17. I had this up for sale a few months ago and withdrew it but as it's not been used since (and i've got Precision GAS) i've decided to put her up for sale again. This is my 2014 Musicman Stingray 4 HH with a natural body, rosewood board and either tortie or black scratchplate (both supplied). The bass was built in 2014 and I've been the sole owner from new. Immaculate condition, there are no marks on the bass whatsoever (apart from a few little light marks on the scratchplates through normal use which are only noticeable under close scrutiny). The original hardshell case is included in the sale and this is also in mint condition. The bass weighs in at 9lb 14oz. This is a very versatile bass due to the 5-way selector switch. Position 1 gives you the classic Stingray rear humbucker tone, position 2 selects the inner coils for a Precision-like sound, the middle position gives you both humbuckers whilst position 4 selects the outer coils which gets close to a Jazz. Position 5 is the front humbucker. The bass has a 3-band active eq. I'm based in Bolton Lancs and would prefer collection (I am prepared to deliver if the distance is reasonable). I am willing to send by courier at the purchasers expense. UK only please due to cites regs. Also interested in a trade for a nice American Standard Precision (ideally 2012 on) Thanks for looking.
