  1. Thanks for this. It quite an early one - 6pm - 9pm so the multi-story could be an option.
  2. Thanks guys - the venue is Flanagan’s Apple. I believe we need to take our PA. Not sure about lighting but I’ll check.
  3. My band is playing a gig on Mathew Street in Liverpool in a couple of weeks. Not played there before and it's pedestrianised. I know loads of bands play there so shouldn't be a problem but what's it like for loading/unloading? Is there anywhere to park? We have quite a bit of gear and the thought of taking bits out of the car and leaving the rest unattended whilst we trundle across town doesn't sit well. Anyone played there that has any tips? Cheers all.
  4. My amp has a gain control knob, followed by a volume control knob for the input stage with a further master volume control knob at the output. I get ever so confused!
  5. Nope - I'm ont' 'tother side of't' Pennines in Lancashire. I just enjoy light heartedly taking the p*ss out of Yorkshireians.
  6. Is the INTPUT text only available to those in Yorkshire?
  7. I can't believe that all that sound comes from such a small circuit board! Astonishing! Good work with the Future Compact.
  8. I used to enjoy listening to the snippet of Nantucket Sleigh Ride by Mountain on Weekend World. This was before I knew who Mountain were coz I'd have been about 8 at the time.. When I heard the whole song some years later and it got to the Weekend World bit I was chuffed to bits and bought the album. Their other stuff was pants though. Still love that song!
  9. Rickenbacker and pocket the change. I've not looked at another bass since I got mine last summer. Don't believe everything you may have read, mine is a fantastic example. Find a good one and it's up there with the best.
  10. Photos added to first post.
  11. Just used the Amp 2 in a rehearsal room with my indie/rock covers band at gigging volume to see if it would sit in the mix OK. Gain 1/3rd of the way up, volume the same. Easily coped. Sat in the mix well. It was very clear and punchy. This thing amplifies the natural sound of the instrument (I was using my Rickenbacker 4003s). Very very impressed indeed. This may take the place of my go to rig which is a Genz Benz STL 9.0 and a Bergantino HD210. Very similar transparent sounds to each other. Stoked!
  12. Just met up with Harry in a shady supermarket car park to do some dodgy dealing. He brought a Future Impact synth pedal and I brought my phone with paypal on it. As others have said on here - top chap. Thanks for taking the time to meet me halfway Harry. All the best.
  13. I've been looking for a small, lightweight combo to use with my double bass. I had a Markbass CMD121P, Minimark 802, Gallien Krueger MB112 on my shortlist as well as anything 'interesting' i.e. Phil Jones Bass, AER etc. I went to Promenade Music on Saturday to try a couple out. The had an AER Amp 2 in. My God - what a great amp. Bit more than I wanted to pay and a little heavier than I was looking for but once you hear something that sounds just right, nothing else will do. Absolutely over the moon with it. It's loud.....no, it's VERY loud, and it remains clear even when pushed hard. Sounds great with my electric basses too.
  14. Interesting.....! Thanks for sharing this. I think the belt pack would suit my needs very well.
  15. The reason I ask is that I could consider purchasing ANY combo if i'm going to have to use the tonebone to get an acceptable sound. If I purchase a combo that is more specific to the DB, then this limits the options and could increase the outlay (significantly in some cases). If I go down this route, one possible advantage is not to have to use the tonebone. In fact, this could be sold and the money used to add to the cost of a more expensive DB friendly amp. If I buy a DB friendly amp and it doesn't sound as nice plugging straight in as with the tonebone, then I could have settled for a less costly standard combo. I believe the Phil Jones combos have a 4.7mohm input however I believe that the smaller combos are not that loud. So, if anyone has a pz-pre (or a 10mohm preamp pedal) and an amp with a 1mohm input, have you A/B tested both and was there a noticeable difference?
  16. When i'm using my DB, I use my usual electric bass gigging rig (Genz STL 9.0 & Berg HD210). I use a Radial tonebone pz-pre which is a fantastic bit of kit. The input impedance is 10mohm. I'm looking for a smaller/quicker set up for rehearsals & quieter gigs so i'm considering buying a combo. I want plenty of headroom and a decent volume should it be required. One of the combo's I've been looking at which seems to be suitable for DB has a 1mohm input (GK MB112). Question is, will I notice a difference if I go direct to the amp? Also some of the AER combo's are rated at 1mohm. Thanks in advance.
  17. I'm not going to try and work out how much a little piece of rubber would have saved me over the years!
  18. Thanks for everyone's suggestions 😊 Having reflected on this, I think the suggestion of getting the Stomp first and seeing how I go on (I want the stomp to go down the FRFR route anyhow). If I still feel the need for the FI, that can come later. Cheers all.
  19. Fair enough A Helix stomp OR an FI is currently in budget but not both at the moment. Maybe a stomp and a cheaper synth is doable at the moment or better still if the stomp on it's own can get me there?
  20. The Future Impact is the obvious choice but due to me being as tight as a ducks derrière, what are the other options to get that Muse type synth/overdriven sound? I have a EHX Metaphors pedal that gives me a muff type sound so i'm part way there. Is the Markbass Super Synth worthy of consideration? This will be for live use so needs to sit in the mix and once I've set the sound in I won't want to tweak on-the-fly. I also don't want to loose the bass so a dry signal would be good. Any thoughts chaps? Sorry if this has been done before. I'm also getting VERY tempted by the Helix stomp but I've heard synth from multi effects doesn't really work.
  21. Looks like a Schaller strap lock is fitted to the ermm....long horn.
  22. I'm so risk averse, I put my lead through the strap even when I'm using the wireless system. Habit!
  23. Not bass related but.....I applied for holiday leave at work for a fortnight in 2019. Already planned what we were going to do - Eurocamp. Price was £1239 for a fortnight in a caravan in Italy (flights & car hire on top of this). My boss approved the holidays yesterday so last night I sat down to book. Black Friday deal with Eurocamp reduced the cost to £560 thus saving a whopping £679. Unexpected and a genuine saving for something I was purchasing anyway. Impressed!
  24. The whistle in 'Hundred MIle High City" by Ocean Colour Scene - only lasts for a bar or 2 nut it lifts the song and gives it a sense of urgency. Also, the bagpipes on 'It's A Long Way To The Top If You Wanna Rock n Roll" by AC/DC.
