1. Roland Bass Cube 30 is a superb little amp. one on ebay? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Roland-Cube-Bass-30-Bass-Amplifier-10-inch-2-way-speaker-/222603964267?hash=item33d43aef6b:g:GbEAAOSwnsZZhhrx
2. Mine says Made in Indonesia on the back. Dunno about the speakers.
3. This is V3? How old is it? No problems with mine but I don't push it.....maybe I'll look to see what speakers are in it.
4. If I may say, these photos don't do this bass justice, excellent though they are. I saw this bass in person and it is absolutely stunning, I was more tempted by it that the one I went to see! A real bargain at this price. Steve
5.
I don't wear a watch at all.
Suspect you may not be interested then. I might be, however. Andy, do you have photos? cheers Steve
6. The Nate Mendel Precision which is based on a 71 P is advertised as having a 'slim C' neck with a 41mm nut. It's noticeably shallower than the current modern C.....
7. Bit too late to the party but this is a 60th anniversary, not a 50th. Apart from that these are tremendous, I have one. Lucky new owner!
8.
Having now seen this, I'm intrigued by "Will include a female to female jack adaptor, this let's you stick the receiver in the loop of your guitar strap". I have absolutely no idea what that means! Surely the very last place you want a wireless receiver is six inches from the transmitter?
Given that the 'transmitter' has got Velcro on it to stick it to a cab I rather think the OP has got the concept of receiver and transmitter mixed up.
9.
Other than sounding different to Ps/Js/MMs are there any other advantages? Do they weigh less, hang better, have better necks? If not then they are not going to sell and their future looks doubtful. Fender seem happy to scrap lines, remember Cabronita?
I guess the answer to all those things is no not really. The neck on the ones I've played is lovely but not astoundingly so (the nicest neck I've ever played was a Sterling) and weight is much of a muchness. The problem Fender have is that they're so inextricably linked with the Precision and the Jazz that people won't credit their alternate models. There have been so many other Fenders come and go over the years and I agree, I think this will go the same way. Shame because I think it's a quality, understated all-rounder, especially in 5 string guise.
10. Ive had a THR10 for a long while now and I find it's superb. Once connected to a laptop there's many more parameters avaialable to fine tune your bass tone. It's got all the flexibility I need for a tiny practice amp - USB in, mute, tuner, patch storage, onboard effects, headphones etc. And it looks the business. BTW a guitarist friend has played through those gutar heads and he says they're amazing too....
11. I like them. They're well balanced with a lovely neck, feel very nice to play and have a wide range of sounds if you get the active 18v ones. The problem with them, if there is one, is that the humbucker setup automatically makes you think it's Fender's Stingray equivalent and it's not. If you buy it as a Stingray alternative you'll be disappointed; if you buy it as a Dimension then you could be pleasantly surprised. I think they were overpriced anyway, although Andertons deal is pretty good - you can get a USA Elite model for under £1k.......
12.
Gosh looks like I'll definitely be holding onto all of mine. Pricing has gone crazy. I'd never be able to replace them without spending about 40% more.
I think you may own a large part of the UKs quota!
13.
. I bought the sleeker Sterling 4H online. It's everything I hoped for, a fantastic bass.
I loved the Sabre too. it was actually just playing the 4 string Sterling that got me thinking about the 5er because it felt so good to play.
14. Ouch! is that why they're not so popular? Or are they not that good a bass? Can you recommend somewhere good to order through? Thanks Steve
15. I'm in the market for a 5 string and whilst out looking, tried a Sterling 4 in my local shop. I was amazed at how good this felt and sounded, even side by side with a Stingray! Trouble is, can I find a 5H anywhere? Not a chance. I'm struggling to find any shop selling them at all. Are they discontinued or so deeply unpopular that they're not worth stocking? Any views? Steve
16. 90 minutes? Is that all you get? I love the Stone Roses but that's a bit of a feeble set....
17. Root, fifth, check shirt, lots of yeehaws....
18.
Did anyone go to the festival? Did anyone think (strangely enough) that the bass output on the main stage was way to much on a number of occasions?
Yes I went. I thought the live sound was very good at the main stage and I liked hearing the bass. On occasion the kick was very prominent, but again I like that. Miles better than at Hyde Park where they pretty much filter out everything below 400khz so the bass players really don't need to turn up and the kick drum is pointless. If I had one criticism then it would be that the vocals were often a little low in the mix. I never watch it on TV so I don't know how it comes across but live the IoW is often affected by strong winds too which affects the experience.
19. I saw your set yesterday! Sounded brilliant and you guys have got a great stage presence. I loved the songs. You got your wireless and amp sorted too I see!! Anyway, I put some (not very good) photos on your Twitter feed. Fantastic job. Steve
20. Nice review thanks! I'd like to see this side by side with the Tech21 Flyrig to compare the two as this looks to be a much cheaper alternative that could be just as good! I like the idea of the separate octave section.
21.
New bass day http://basschat.co.u...92#entry3310792 Took it to practise tonight, in a hot sticky rehearsal studio, and struggled all night with a sticky glossy neck. My Stringray has a lovely smooth, 'dry' neck, and I'd like to gig my new bass on Saturday, so what are the best recommendations for smoothing out a sticky lacquered neck? It's only a £100 bass so I'm not bothered about affecting the resale value - thanks.
I'd try the fine grade wet and dry paper to take the shine off, as mentioned previously. If you don't like it then a bit of rubbing compound or T-Cut will bring back the shine.
22. That's better! They've added a mute switch and a headphone out. That looks like a cracking combo - wish I had that instead of my CMD121...
23.
I acquired a Fender Rumble 500 Combo today. A well put together amp, with a lot of good sounds from it. The twin Eminence 10's do well.
You've changed the badge on the front to a repro Blackface logo? Looks much better than the one they put on the Rumbles as standard...
24. [sub]Did this sell?[/sub]
25. Check with the organisers. I've been to this festival since 2002 and played once. The Big Top is the second biggest stage at the festival with a capacity of around 5,000. The stage is big and very well set up with plenty of on stage monitoring. I would contact the organisers first to be honest and ask what is supplied as I wouldn't be surprised if there was already backline available, having seen how they turn around the acts. Congratulations, I would kill to play this stage!
