Need Screw (Bolt?) For Fender Jazz Battery cover
Big_Stu replied to Rainbass's topic in Repairs and Technical
Hi I've managed to lose one of the tiny screws that hold the battery covery on to my Fender Deluxe Jazz, and I can't seem to find a replacement anywhere - any suggestions? Also, has anyone put a screw-less battery box in a Deluxe Jazz? Is there one that fits without having to change the shape of the compartment at all? thanks Dave
Not a Jazz but my bass has similar to this in it, it clips in rather than screws but tbh the clips if pressed against can let the edges rise up slightly ........ GuitarPartsResource do a range of them, some screw-less. If you have a control cavity cover on the back you could have an alternative one made rather than cut up the original. -

Why do some people refer to their bass as 'she'?!
................. some psychologists would say he called it the fatherland because of something in his upbringing. Can't remember exactly what they said.
........ as did those from the vast majority of Eurpean countries; I can only think of the UK and Russia that doesn't. It may be connected with countries that were colonised to various extents by the Danes/Vikings, (which I'm currently reading about) though - I'm fairly sure that Jews called their lands their Fathersland, from Abraham's days? -
Thanks stu funnily enough i have one as it is due to some teaching that i do i'll make sure i put it down
Me too, for a major free-lancing job I'm due to start soon. It seemed to start with if you were working with kids, but it's getting a lot more common these days - I would guess that with families on the ship it would come up. (I don't know how often they're supposed to be renewed; in theory you could get one & rob a bank the next day.)

online company that prints album's artwork in colours.cheap
Big_Stu replied to britpoprule's topic in General Discussion
Many places will do shorter runs, but you'd pay a higher unit cost for them. If it's just a straight 4pp BF (bog standard cover) just get your nearest digital printer to run out some sheets & cut them down yourself. (A knackered ball-point pen is perfect for the crease down the middle) If you're handy witha scalpel & stapler you could even knock up an 8pp if it is just "a few", it's when you add pages and folding that a printers' hands start rubbing.. -
It may also be an idea, true of many CV applics these days, to get a CRB check done. It's getting more common to be asked for one - either up front or at a 2nd i'view stage. Could help to have one if you're up against others.

Is it at all relevant why the last singer was sacked?? and why it took a few months to get a replacement, lack of available applicants in your area or lack of suitability?

Why do some people refer to their bass as 'she'?!
You stick the jack plug in the socket on yer bass. Also you stick the strings in through holes. AFAIK there are no bits of the bass that you then stick into other things. Thus it is a she.
Plus some can be high maintenance, some aren't, some take ages to get ready before you take them out and too much of one and you get a head-ache. edit: apart fromall of the ladies on BC of course, stating the obvious really, erm erm, and they look good with a minimum of scrubbing up. -
Sadly, I believe Dave passed on a couple of months ago. His site is locked and his phone's off so I guess it must be so.
It is unfortunately. As you say - a couple of months ago. Lung cancer very shortly after being diagnosed, which is a blessing I suppose, it can be a nasty way to go. Only had dealings with him once; very knowledgable about vintage valve amps & all things "Who".

He was out cold & a bit of a mess but is fine now, & looks not a little unlike Boris Karloff when he's just had a haircut.

Why do some people refer to their bass as 'she'?!
Big_Stu replied to tedmanzie's topic in General Discussion
After owning a few guitars and basses I broke with tradition & named my custom bass "Mr Noisy" due to it's onboard overdrive. Then found a "Mr Noisy" Mr. Man enamel badge & stuck it in the strap for it. First time I put it away I wasn't thinking (no change there then!) and next time I picked it up the neck had a chunk out of the finish where it had rested against the badge. No more names from then on. Tony Iommi's JD has been "Old Boy" for a very long time, so it's not all "she". In the gospel according to Simon Mayo's radio show last week, ships are called "she" because they carry people inside them, like a mother. -

Replacing the Foam Lining in a Flight Case
Big_Stu replied to cloudburst's topic in Accessories and Misc
I got a cracking case made in Edinburgh by http://www.warehouse...aps.php#glasgow years ago, They now have a place in Glasgow too, might be worth a punt. The foam lining is FBO. -

classic blues listening list - any suggestions?
Big_Stu replied to lowdowner's topic in General Discussion
It might be stating the obvious to many; but don't forget that "the blues" isn't necessarily down music, a lot of it is fun, about joking, a celebration of living, a guy strutting his stuff, think "Little Red Rooster", "I'm A Man", much of my all time favourite, Albert Collins' stuff is in a light hearted vein - but your guitarist would have to be better than red hot to carry one of his well. -
