It's not sold until the money's in my account/pocket.
This^ Tell them, OK you've registered an interest which is as much as they've done at that point, but until either the money is with you, or they've been to collect & pay then you're open to offers from elsewhere.
 2.
Everything is amazing, believe me. I found this amp, ordered and paid for it, tracked it's delivery and even configured it once it arrived using my phone. This morning the manufacture (TC) warned me (via my phone) about a defect it had and told me it was under recall (to fix or replace it) and I hadn't even got out of bed yet, I hadn't even asked anyone to tell me. Pretty cool I thought. Within 10 minutes I was able to work out what to do about it (request replacement), and initiate the request (still using my phone) before the supplier had even got to the store themselves (I suspect). Now I await their reply. Just now I watched a bass lesson on my phone and then jammed (using my amp) to tracks on my phone (that I could have also played through my amp from my phone). 10 years ago I would have been astounded at this stuff and I guess I still am a little.
It strikes me as starnge that they're still being called "phones" these days.
Just walked into nevada and handed it back. The guy in there was still trying to push the "send it back yourself so we don't have to provide after market customer care" angle, but he took it. Absolutely no hint on a lead time as Nevada "have lots of orders to deal with" and because apparently TC haven't told them a thing about it. Hopefully it'll be a quick turn around.

I've still not heard from Nevada and they're now ignoring my emails.
I hope you got a receipt?!
 3. I'm currently passing on to my son's other half for the purpose of embarrassment (which is a law in the life of your offspring) the words/phrases he invented when he was learning to talk which have stuck - often into my vocab. If he really liked something edible? "That's my flavourite". Something nasty was "hobbable", and "thirsty" = "thursday". .......... and his ultimate excuse when caught doing anything wrong? "I'm just wee". Sorry for being OT, but it tickles me years later.
 4.
In my STD Hiscox I get the following: Bass with attached strap (any of the ones in my sig) Lead Spare Lead Tuner Set of spare strings Set list Planet waves grippy rubber neck-stand
That's not a case................ it's a Tardis!
 5.
The fit around the body of the bass is so snug that the strap doesn't fit there either.
See what you mean; it might fold back over the top horn & along the body but it's not a good idea for other reasons. Extra pressure on the neck when closed & on some finishes the strap can react with the finish if in contact, for eg.(which is why I prefer to remove the strap).
 6. The keylines on the body remind me of some bloke who got there first with the bass version .............
 7.
The only thing I dislike about my hiscox case is that my basses don't fit if I leave the strap on---and the strap doesn't fit in the case when I take it off. Grr.
That doesn't sound like the best of case designs; unless your strap is made of chain mail. My bass case will take the bass with strap on ( ) or it has a space in the foam for a rolled up strap, spare strings & I use an old 35mm film cannister to hold picks. Aaaay! A place for ev'rythin', and ev'rythin' in it's place, by gum! A photographers aluminium case, £20 your cash from Maplins for soldering iron, spare jacks, screws, etc.
 8.
The days of buying basses from the US to save a few quid are pretty much over...
For those old enough to remember him; "Diary Of A Rock n Roll Star" by Ian Hunter (Mott The Hoople) is full of tales of a US tour, which it's the diary of, searching out old guitar shops & asking to see inside a dusty old case at the bottom of a pile of gear to reveal a mint Fender/Gibson whatever. Even then (1975 IIRC) he warned that Customs officials were getting wise & the days were numbered of cheap guitars from the US.
 9. When I saw Chuck Berry in Edinburgh a piss-head in the crowd kept interupting until he shouted "Play me some blues BOY!" (Almost as bad a word to use on a black guy as "Uncle Tom"). Chuck was incensed, stopped, pointed right at him. The spot followed his finger to the guy & Chuck shouted "BOY? I'm a 68 year old man BOY!". Wild applause, but they only had kids as bouncers & it took them a while before they chucked the knob out.
 10. Wasn't something like this done once before on this forum, a few years ago in similar circumstances? If not I have seen it work on another forum. We don't need any names on a public forum, either real or User-names. If it looks like it's not going forward the normal way, maybe just put the regional area of the OP & seller & see who's up for helping out. Any posts which start hazarding a guess as to who the seller is are immediately deleted upon pain of It's do-able; when all else has failed.
 11. Since it's not cash that the OP is waiting for, it's an item that's already in their possesion, then it shouldn't be that difficult to either send it - OR arrange to meet up with another nearby BCer who is willing to do the same? (I'm up for it if it's in my area-ish). Most personal issues can be found a way around. I was let down 3 times by a visit from a tradesman last week. When he eventually let slip the reason why there was no way I was gonna get pissed off. The guys life had fallen apart overnight & he knew to survive he had to keep going as best he could.
 12.
I must have had the 'best bass for metal' discussion on TB a million times.
But not as many times as we've had "Should I add a 1x15" cab to my "2x10" cab for more bottom end?" on BC I'll warrant!!!
 13.
The mod team are also pretty 'laid back', always give people the benefit of the doubt and try to resolve issues without resorting to using a big stick.
Overall yes, but like all things there are exceptions, IME.
 14.
Funny that....on talkbass a find a lot the high posters seem to post ............
(IMHO)........... insane posts along the lines of "help me choose what kind of tort scratchplate is best for death-metal club #3", which could only appeal to a teenage American.
 15.
BC has what, 20,000 members? Out of those, you cant expect everyone to play the game. Given that, I think BC has a pretty good community feel all things considered.
Out of those 20k how many are active though? If you look at the members list there's a shed load who have joined but never contributed (some in Russian Cryliic) - or if they did it was years ago. Get rid of those for a more realistic figure; though in reply to someone who wanted to flounce the other week they were just told "Just stop logging in, simples ". Is there a number for "active members"? If I was to sell on here I'd keep it within the spirit of things - and while I can see the sense of not making compulsory % donations of the sold price to BC funds - I would think the genuine BCers are the ones who do make a worthwhile donation without having to be reminded.
 16.
My bugbear is somebody buying a P on FEEBay for £665 and putting it on here the next day at £1000. His 7th such move in a year.
i see that as "fair-dos"; he got their first on Ebay, which is an open market to a trader as well as a player. Maybe knew a bargain when he saw one using his skill & judgement, everyone here has the same chance if they do the research & look hard enough. However, totally different ball-game doing the same stunt on BC Sales; which denies someone who genuinely did want the item getting it for a good price - that's more like profiteering to me. (IMHO, YMMV etc etc.)
 17. "Time Is tight; Best of Booker T & The MGs" featuring Steve Cropper & The MarKeys, on vinyl ............. from 1973. Gearing up for seeing two gigs of his next week.
 18.
FWIW, the "seller" has been on BC at least three times in the last week, but has not looked at the PM thread since the 19th.
If that was me in your position; as soon as I discovered that, my very next move would have been onto Paypal for the refund; if that's possible from what's currently under discussion about "gifts" and such.
 19. I'd certainly give him a listen on his own merits. Possibly loosley related, you be the judge..... a few years ago I went to see Steven Segal in his guise as blues guitarist. Unusual technique using his thumb nail as a pick, and very good at what he did, he told about getting guitar lessons from both Muddy Waters and Albert Collins while "sat on the stoop of his shack"; which could be true but there a few looks around.
 20. I'd be more concerned if it was a relative newbie too, rather than a long established member.
 21.
I've been asked if I can ship my MIMP to the US, got a price from parcelforce of 100 quid
It's been said many times on here that even though they'll take your money for it Parcel Force don't insure musical instruments in their small print. I sent an amp head to the USA a few years ago; it worked out vastly cheaper for the buyer to organise FedEx to come collect it. It worked very well and cost $72.
 22. Tried sitting the amp on the sofa with it firing towards (not against) the backrest? Just curious really.
 23.
............he's had the money since 7th January, and I've had one apologetic PM (on the 19th) and nothing since.
Has he logged in since then?...... that's easy to find out. If he has then it's not as easy to explain away. If he hasn't it makes you perhaps think something else has occupied his time.
 24.
.........As creative people, we should not narrow our minds to just call these things tools, bits of wood and wire that make thuddy noises.............
In "Hail, Hail, Rock n Roll" there's a great part with Chuck Berry walking to a plane at a US airport, carrying his own 335 in a case. The i'viewer asks him why he doesn't have his guitar specially cared for, buy it a seat or something. He just says "working man's tools, tax deductable" with a huge smile. Then I spoilt the film by buying the 2 disc DVD showing the making of the original, and showing how much of a git he was all the way through. Keef just wanted one of his childhood heroes to sound great live for a change - but jumped thru' hoops to do it. Come to think of it - doesn't he call his 5 stringed Tele "Micawber"?
 25. Just a FYI for you guys, reading between the lines and all that.............. When the bad weather started I had a delivery for a client go missing for just over a week, to the point where it was assumed lost by the sender & resent. Both packages arrived within two days of each other. Identical packages, one took two days, the other nearly 2 weeks. The Royal Mail said that they had some sorting offices out of action in the NE due to flood/snow damage. Best of luck.
