I started a thread before on how great my school's Westfield P-basses were! Don't try the guitars!

On a similar point, I bought some of the 1st Nike fitba boots to arrive on these shores. They burst after 3 games and I swore never again.

I had a 70s Fender and hated the lack of even sound from across the strings and it's general wooliness. Got rid and used a Hohner Steinberger for 5 years without a problem. Hardly tuned it! I do accept that recently they have really upped their game though.

Go on - what do you think in light of the NME list? PIck a favourite bassline of yours and maybe even choose one we might not know but would surprise us! I'm afraid I'm usually Mr Obvious with JJ Burnell, Jaco with Joni, Geddy Lee etc. Criteria? Not sure, but how about a bassline you'd like a relative beginner to listen to to open their minds to the possibilities? I always remember learning 'Silly Love Songs' and thinking....'Ah! I don't need to stick in the scales!' If I had to choose one very groovy bassline that I'd like a newbie to learn, it would be something like 'Soul Man' by Sam n Dave.

Take one of my weirds back - Schism is really cool. Never heard it before.
