1. Bring back the 80s!
2.
What you tryin' to say man?! Although I am in two bands at the moment, neither is quite up to gigging speed yet. Having said that the bass I've been mostly using with both bands in full rehearsals is my Squier Affinity P. It just does what I want it to do, and I look forward to gigging with it when the opportunity arises. The Status is in temporary retirement!
Ha!
3. Gigged a Squier PJ Special I got for £60 and it cut through the mix like Conan through a field of daisies!
4. JJ Burnell
5. Probably when he started it was slightly more exotic than a P-bass. I think his position in bass playing circles is safe although I don't go for the 'best in the world' in the arts as music is so subjective. Bizarre really, JJ got me into the bass, I copied Foxton and loved Genesis but one night by accident Joni Mitchell's Shadows and Light was on Ch4 and in seconds I was mesmerised. It took about another 3 months and ordering the album from Japan to discover who he was. I never aspired to be or play like him but occasionally I'd throw in Pastorisms on Stax and Tamla songs just for the thrill! Great player, great innovator and his best feature was the way he put impressionist colour into Mitchell's songs where others could only scribble.

7.
Marcus doesn't have high standards of tone, you say? It doesn't take much effort for you to get a better tone than him, you say?? Go and dig out "The Nightfly" by Donald Fagen, have a listen to "Maxine" and "The Goodbye Look" and reconsider those statements. Then post something you played on that demonstrates how you get a better tone.
One of the great 'bass' albums ever. Wee aside: http://www.youtube.com/user/StealingDan#p/p StealingDan tribute band!
8. Meanwhile in Glasgow.....
9. Jezzaboy was selling a tribute on here - have a search, it's a cracker.
10.
I have a black one of these. They play wonderfully and have a great sound, plenty of middle, even with the P pup solo'd. They seem to have a lot more grunt than other PJs, not sure why, pup placement, freq centres of roll off? Anyway it works. Good luck with the sale Leo
x2 - Black sparkle version and they play and sound a lot better than many of the more expensive basses I've had. Did a wee gig recently where off the cuff we decided to do a few extra unrehearsed songs with a boy taking bass as I took guitar. At the end, the guy said that he was surprised at the sound and feel of the Yam and was thinking of selling his 'pro-bass' to pay for a holiday and he would get a Yam!

That Ric Sound
As with any other bass, it depends how you eq it and what you're playing it through. Early JJ Burnel doesn't have a lot of "bass" but I don't think many people would suggest a Precision inherently lacks low end. Have you ever heard the Beatles?
Did early Stranglers not feature JJ on Hiwatt guitar cabs as they could not afford bass ones?
15. Really good bass. I just could not get used to 24 frets and kept 'missing' my mark!
16. Sunfish - there will be plenty of interest, it's just we're all rooked just now! Best of luck and hope it sells soon - cracker.

Bootilicious.
18. For bass alone, a bit predictable but.... Sheer genius, musicianship and showmanship wrapped into one lovely wee package...
19. Both as suits. Learned on a pick but 30s into my first gig I threw it away. Mainly fingers but occasionally the song cries out for a plectrum.
20. Guy Pratt on today.
