1. I always thought this track would be pretty straightforward to play... until I played it with a previous covers band! Harder than it sounds - and definitely good for the stamina! It's not too hard to play, but it is hard to play well (IMO).
2.
If it's a bolt on necked bass, and you don't have a case, just a gig bag, then ship it in 2 pieces, just make sure both are wrapped well with bubble wrap and lots of cardboard.
That would be my choice too - but some people on here have stated that they would not deem this to be suitable! The reason being that they couldn't take the bass out and play it straight away! I'd rather have it arrive in one piece (well, OK - two actually!) and then spend ten minutes re-assembling it!
3. I do if I can be arsed, and there is a pair of wirecutters handy... if not, I just wind them round until i can't do so any more! Making sure, of course, that the last wind is down at the bottom of the "capstan" thing, thus maximising string break angle. But does it really make that much difference? On my Status all of this is irrelevant of course, and it takes about three minutes to change an entire set!
4. Good advice here so far! I've shipped quite a few basses packaged in this way, and so far (touch wood!) I've had no problems. Interparcel Standard is pretty cheap and reliable IME.
5.
Maybe post an advert or thread on here, see if anyone living in Scotland has one that you could perhaps try ?
Got to be worth a try
6.
...have my eye on something else.
Oh? Do tell.... Just in case one of use has one!
7. Just to echo what has already been said... Just completed a very successful and hassle-free trade with Gareth (smaz) - his EBMM Sterling (and some cash) for my Fender Marcus Miller J bass. Excellent, friendly and detailed communications throughout. Payment and delivery very fast indeed, and bass well packaged for shipping. Couldn't ask for more! Enjoy the bass mate! A top-quality Basschatter and highly recommended!
8. I think it works on Spectors and some Yamahas... but they are quite bling instruments to start with
9. I had the green and black (chocolate?) version of the head. I actually thought it was OK, and particularly liked the push-button preset tone controls.... But I was only about 17 at the time!
10. Gone now. Thanks for all the interest.
11. At the bottom end of the budget range, but still decent quality, would be Wilkinson pickups and GFS from the States. Both well worth a try! Or trawl the "other musical items for sale" threads on here.
12. This guy is good. Don't know anything about him, but he needs to get out of his bedroom! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9LiuoCBuotc
13.
I hate to quibble here WoT but isn't that my Roscoe Beck?
Ah! That's where it went!
14.
They are '84s - in which case I think I will hang onto them,
Good call. Some of the best pickups ever available IMO...
15. Wizard Hammers are my favourite after-market upgrade for any basses with J-type pickups. EMGs are good too, but for very different reasons.. Hammers = clear beef. They are, in effect, the consommee of the pickup world!
16.
OCD attack!! I reproduced the logo and had a plastic-backed badge made up.
Hmmmmm..... nice, but.... It doesn't look quite straight to me
17. Careful with the bumps mate - only allowed every 36 hours! Gorgeous bass though - like a Marcus Miller but minus the fiddly preamp
18. That's far too good to give away! If you could put it in a box I would happily pay for a courier to come and collect it! Please PM me if this would be possible
19. Great pickups these! Wish I had a bass to put them in...
20. Cheers guys! And can I just take this opportunity to say that every single deal I have been involved with on BC has been an absolute pleasure!!
21. On hold pending trade.
22.
I'm not a gay or out, ...on that note, I'll go do something manly & balance will be restored.
What an odd thing to say! I don't really count my basses. But I've currently got four. OK, so I guess I do count them. What I mean is, I don't really pay too much attention to how many I have. Sometimes five is too few and sometimes two is too many. It doesn't really matter. I have a fretless in case I ever need one. So far, I haven't. My Status has been with me since I was just out of my teens. My MIM J feels right. I want my Marcus Miller to feel right, but somehow it just doesn't. Not wrong exactly, just not "right". But if a bass isn't quite right, or isn't getting much use (and doesn't look like it is going to) - then it is on its way out. Not that selling basses is easy at the moment, but trading them can be fun too. It gives me a chance to try something that I wouldn't otherwise be able to. It's not harming anyone, is it? There are worse (and more expensive) things to spend your money and time on...
23. I recently carried out a trade with John - his Barefaced Big One for my BF Compact (bass cabinets, for those unfamiliar with these items! ). A very smooth deal (once we got the transportation sorted out!). No problems whatsoever. Clear, honest communications throughout. Excellent packaging too! Highly recommended
