1. Following on from a disussion on another thread, I was just wondering if anyone could recommend a suitable product that would remove (or at least loosen) rust? The rusty items in question are the intonation screws on a BadAss 2 bridge on a Fender Geddy Lee J bass that I recently acquired. Due to the small and fiddly size of the screws, I think a wire brush would be awkward and unsuitable. Are there any chemical products that will strip or dissolve rust from such components?
 2.
Nottingham – It took a few years Leeds – eventually found a really interesting band Newcastle – Nowt.....yet.
There is a common theme here (my emphasis). Time. As in "it takes time". Give it time and keep trying.
 3.
Newcastle is a big town, and it has a lot going on around the fringes. You just haven't found it.
Amen to that brother! Take Whitley Bay for example. The place is full of bass players, most of which seem to be in at least three bands each! Not all are cover bands (although I never understood the antipathy towards bands that play other people's material. A good band is a good band, whatever they play!).
 4.
File it. Won't need a lot just to smooth it off.
This. Not sure its a II though - I'm fairly sure they have five screws holding them to the bass body. My guess is that it is a BadAss I. The BIII is also three attachment holes (like yours) but has a much smoother look...
 5.
Call Brent on 0779466833

Number is either wrong or disconnected.
The number is incorrect - not enough digits. Mobile numbers should go up to 11...
 6.
**Cough** Fender models. **Cough**
"The Joe Osborn 4 is defined by a pair of single coil D. Lakin pickups with a 1.5″ nut width, while the Bob Glaub 4 sports a single humbucked split coil pickup and a 1.75″ nut width." I would say so.
 7. Still loving the colours and necks - feeling very tempted by one of these in either Surf green or Sky blue
 8.
I don't accept anything but the best
Mightn't that be part of the problem? I'm not sure there is any such thing as the perfect band - any more than there is the perfect relationship. There are always compromises to make - it just depends on how much you are prepared to compromise and on what. T'was ever thus IME...
 9.
Oh your gonna be toast sonny jim if Rach sees that comment..........
Yes - and please bear in mind that it came from him, not me!
 10.
Some careless bugger allowed the ones on my new Geddy Lee J to get horribly rusty!
Or, failng the above, can anyone suggest an effective method of removing rust from such screws?
 11.
Interesting. The North East has always been well represented here on BC which led me to suppose there was a fair bit going on there. Perhaps it's an age thing where the 30's-50's generation have sewn up all the interesting gigs.
That is my impression too. But most of us up here are a bit easier to please...
 12.
And re:behringer BDI, have you seen this vid conan?
I have now! Very interesting - but way beyond my skills.... Makes you wonder why Behringer don't offer a modded version themselves as it is a well-known problem.
 13. Hmmmmm.... I'll be in Stranraer that weekend - just a couple of hours north on the train....
 14.
Here's a clip from my gig last night where I used the H115, on loan from its soon-to-be owner.
John hasn't paid for it yet?!?! I like the sound of "fat and authoritative".... it conjours up an image...
 15. Can't help with suggestions I'm afraid, but I totally agree with you on the J Retro! Lots of incredible sounds available, but just too difficult to find mid-gig or mid-rehearsal... I await the proper answers with some anticipation, as this is an option that I may well be exploring myself. I like the sound I can get from my Behringer BDI21, but I don't like the way it sucks the mids out. Is there a simple pedal that gives a mid-boost? I really like the 3-band EQ on the EBMM Sterling that I recently traded - very musical and simple. But it wasn't attached to a J bass!
 16.
As before, I'm sure I can help. Let me know what you want. Cheers.
Very kind! You have PM incoming...
 17. Robert Plant? Er, no..... hang on....
 18.
Got some on order - may be about a week.

I'm now in the market for some of these - any suggestions?
I'm after a set of these now too. Not the short, narrow grub screws for adjusting the height of the action; but the long ones with springs around them for setting intonation. Some careless bugger allowed the ones on my new Geddy Lee J to get horribly rusty! Has anyone tried contacting BadAss (Leo Quan) direct in search of various spares? Is it even possible to do so? A quick Google search gives no contact details for the company...
 19. "Vintage" 80s Rotos? They could be worth a few bob to somebody...
 20.
I stand corrected!
It is easy to get confused! I thought the Blacktops were Chinese too... Fender don't do themselves any favours with this muddle of different sub-brands and countries of origin. It makes it hard to make proper recommendations at times!
 21. Good basses! I had a five string fretted in black for a while before moving it on (mainly because it was a five string!). A range of very modern tones, greatly boosted by the three band EQ (the mid control gives a lot of options). I didn't bother with a shim, but did find that the curved body made it impossible to lower the bridge saddles as much as i would have liked... a minor design flaw maybe? Good fun though, and the looks always draw attention!
 22. Lovely! A Marcus Miller sig bass, but US made and without the stupid ugly scratchplate It's a winner!
 23.
They are man, cheers.
Cool. I'm just used to seeing them with the exposed pole pieces. You learn something every day! Lovely bass - good luck
 24. May 3 1984 was my 18th birthday! Lovely bass. I don't normally like the one-piece scratchplate and bell plate, but it works with this one.
 25. Are they the original MM pickups?
