Some of the responses here seem almost angry, which I find odd. If a product doesn't tick your boxes, choose something else. You don't have to rail against it's very existence.
I totally agree with you - but clearly some other members don't. And they DO seem to think that their mission in life is to rail against the very existence of Barefaced Bass, its owner and its products. All a bit sad and tedious really. One would think that they would have better things to do...
True indeed, but not everyone can afford £7-800 for a "Decent Cab".
True of course, but by shopping carefully and buying second-hand these "decent cabs" can be had for a lot less than that.
I'm guessing three of these would mean a 4 ohm load? Hence the same speakers as the 6x10?
A modular, 4 ohm, 6x10 - costing £1200?! Not sure that's a particularly big section of the market...

The Skimmity Hitchers - courtesy of the link in "The Rev"s signature. Brilliant fun - wish I lived in the West Country!!
I like it
The Fender "Brewers' Droop"...?
Go and stand in the corner.
Best response of the year!
+1 Convert it to passive and get rid of the battery problems forever. IMHO

If the pickup is an active EMG then it'll need to be replaced too if the OP wants to go fully passive with no batteries.
Yes. The battery is indicating that there is a problem - not the problem itself. Get the bass checked out by a proper luthier or technician (unless you understand the electronics yourself - which you probably don't or you wouldn't be asking this question!)
I have a 2010 Fender Mexi Jazz which I intend to do this to
Let us know how you get on, as this is something I have been considering too!

Best price I could find (after a short search) is here - http://www.bestbassg...kups-mj-set.htm Buying from the US has pros and cons. Yes, you will have to pay shipping and may get hit for tax, but the conversion rate makes them pretty affordable compared to buying over here.

I still don't know what this is about... but I have just looked at the Basses for sale section and - Christ there are a lot of Fenders and their derivatives for sale!!
How about a bandwagon of bassists?
I realise that this comment was probably made with tongue in cheek, but I think that is unfair. There is no evidence of any "bandwagon-jumping" here. Just because some people share an opinion and dare to comment on it, does not mean that they are jumping on a real or imagined bandwagon. Of course - if your comment was made in jest, I retract the above!
You could try your local hardware store first, cluttered, dusty and slightly musty smelling places are my favourite.
Mine too! And we have a really good one locally!

OK. Plenty of options here for me to explore. Thanks guys. Just out of interest, where/how would I find and "engineers' merchant"? Is that the same as (or similar to) a hardware store?
Maybe, like I said though gut calls have to be made sometimes. One was made this time and I personally see benefit in re-opening that thread as it served it's original purpose (to get contact details for Jon). On top of that we also got an explanation as well as a guesstimate delivery date (all outstanding orders will be delivered before the new business model goes live, which IIRC was dated as June).
Fair enough. And yes, the thread in question had a very specific subject - to get contact details. It could be argued that once it had achieved this goal then its value became lessened... but (like many threads) it went off in its own direction.
Guys, the previous thread was closed due to it veering incredibly close to bullying towards Brent.
There are loads of threads on here where someone makes a silly or crass comment and gets stick for it. Are they all to be closed down? This could be seen as setting a dangerous precedent. As others have said, some sort of warning would have been a more appropriate first response from the mods.
Yes, the bottle I have is Sarson's Distilled Malt Vinegar 5% acidity - looks like water (don't drink it!)
As far as I am aware, Iron Oxide is amphoteric - so maybe vinegar (dilute ethanoic acid) might not work from a chemistry point of view... Still, I'll give it a try! Thanks.

I can live with the rust, I would just prefer not to! I don't mind a bit of mojo on the bass body (the wooden bits!) but I hate to see tarnished and rusty metal. I'll get it sorted somehow! However, I have very little technical or engineering knowledge, so things like identifying threads and getting machine screws (whatever they are!) is a bit beyond me I'm afraid! I'm fairly handy with a screwdriver - but that's about my limit!

Has ANYONE got a current contact number for Jon letts of Lettsbass?
It's definitely your actions from here on in that will make or break the businesses standing on this site at least. I'd put a pinch less salt into your responses if I'm honest. I empathise with the problems that have caused this, and hope that everything family wise gets to be settled and well. I look forward to hopefully hearing some happy reviews, wait times aside, once people orders start being fulfilled.
Brilliant post! None of us like to hear about family problems - especially where kids are concerned. But at the same time, there are so many easy methods of communication these days that it shouldn't be too difficult to keep customers in the loop. Most of us would be very understanding! -
I like him, and always have. I hate these threads though. Maybe it's my age, but when I see a thread with someone's name as the title, I start thinking that person must have died...
Are the screws seized into the bridge saddles?
No. The rust is purely superficial and annoying from an aesthetic point of view - it looks bad! I assume "white vinegar" is distilled vinegar?
-
I think the internet breeds certain time wasters who dream of being in a band but can't actually play/organise/do anything as they don't put the effort in. Good old wanted posters used to cause less fuss.
I certainly agree with that!

Following on from a disussion on another thread, I was just wondering if anyone could recommend a suitable product that would remove (or at least loosen) rust? The rusty items in question are the intonation screws on a BadAss 2 bridge on a Fender Geddy Lee J bass that I recently acquired. Due to the small and fiddly size of the screws, I think a wire brush would be awkward and unsuitable. Are there any chemical products that will strip or dissolve rust from such components?

Time. As in "it takes time". Give it time and keep trying.
Newcastle is a big town, and it has a lot going on around the fringes. You just haven't found it.
Amen to that brother! Take Whitley Bay for example. The place is full of bass players, most of which seem to be in at least three bands each! Not all are cover bands (although I never understood the antipathy towards bands that play other people's material. A good band is a good band, whatever they play!).
