Smooth Hound Innovations Digital Wireless Guitar System
Delberthot replied to Dood's topic in Accessories and Misc
Is the suction cup tape that sticks the transmitter to the bass designed so that the transmitter lives attached to the bass all of the time or can it come off at the end of the gig and go back on for the next one? Kind of looks like it goes on and off again as long as you keep it clean according to the manual. Just thinking that it might wear out the jack socket if it's in there all of the time. -
I'll need to give it a listen but at the moment my favourite is Fragile by Yes. It's been my favourite album for the past 10 years at least I'm always looking out for new old stuff. I can't find anything new these days that excites me. Even the Chili Peppers newer stuff doesn't do anything for me and I have been a huge Chilis fan for the past 23 years

And with another suggestion..... I play in a wedding/function and and I don't have the time or inclination to mess around with settings or pedals so I need something that I can make sound different without adjust anything other than what I do with my fingers. I also don't have the time to change basses during songs either - I barely have time to tune up sometimes. Many basses will do this. It just so happens that I love the sound of my Yamaha BB1025 and how it responds to how I play it. I also have it set up so that if I dig in it will growl and clank away. Basses that have worked for me have been Bass Collection SB305, Musicman Stingray 5, Epiphone Goth Thunderbird, Fender Precision with EMGs and now the Yamaha. There have been loads of others.

I take two 1 litre bottles of water to every wedding gig and normally get myself a pint of water before each set and a cup of tea at the break. I also have a bottle of water in the car for driving through and a second one for the drive home I am also on a diet so as I burn fat I am also using up the fluids in my body and so need more than I normally would. I must drink around 20-25 litres of water a week at the moment

Myself and the guitarist have on occasion got the intros to Day Tripper and Pretty Woman mixed up with each other

I can draw a similar comparison to music today as movies today. There have been some great movies made but it seems that the further into the future we get the more one film is like another and the more that we get remakes. For me, this is the same as music. It's more or less all been done before so it's hard to come up with something new. Occasionally someone will break through but it's becoming harder as if you're really into music you've heard it all before. I disagree that if you weren't there then you missed it as I have fond memories of listening to a great number of bands for the first time and playing the songs over and over again. Just being overwhelmed by the tracks and how they did it.

I hope not for long as I'm pretty certain that I will be buying one in the next fortnight. One thing though - if the receiver is designed to sit on a pedal board, why is the display on the front and not the top? -
I'm in a wedding/function band so it's mainly 8-12 gigs for me but a few years back it wasn't unheard of to do 7-1. The killer is when we're far away like Inverness and Aberdeen so there's a 3 hour drive home. A 12 finish normal translates to getting home around 4am. Had one of those last week and I'll have another in 3 weeks time Generally means that the next day is a right-off

I like to keep it simple - Fender Rumble 500 combo with Yamaha BB1025 and BB425 as backup

Mark Ronson Bass player at Glastonbury 2015
Delberthot replied to Lee-Man's topic in General Discussion
That song is the reason I don't like him. -
Yes without Squire would be like chips without, er... Fish.
Is that not Marillion you're thinking about? Or possibly Erik Estrada I personally would not go to see Chic as there's no Bernard but they're clearly still popular and still going so good on them. They're bass player is fantastic but he's not Bernard - suppose that's the same argument regarding Bon and Brian in AC/DC. When I think of Yes I think about the fact that each member has a very unique and distinctive sound and way of playing. When one member goes do you try to mimic the missing member or try something different again that will make you unique? I personally think Dave Meros from Spocks Beard could pull it off but then you need to think about the missing harmonies as well. They've been doing it long enough, I'm sure if there's a way to do it they will. Hell we might even get a Yes/Asia/Buggles/etc combined gig

28 years later and I really couldn't tell you what any of the scales are.
Don't forget the "honking" gibsons.
Yes they are aren't they I believe that it's somewhere between bite and kertang but definitely not grunk -
I am thinking of starting a Pink Floyd Tribute Band

I can't Remember a Day when we had so many of these but I'm Biding My Time before I come out with any more, If I come out with any more -
I've got 7 gigs and maybe 5 rehearsals out of a set of EXLs and the E string especially is as dead as the thumpiest of flats. I thought it was more than that. I've just put a set on my BB1025 but might give the EXPs a go next time around.

Don't spend too much cos if it isn't a success then you'll be Up The Khyber unless you can get a gig at the Grand Vizier's Garden Party. If you do then you might get to do a quick Spanish Piece at the Ibiza Bar -

If you're stuck for transport I've got a bike, you can ride it if you like but One Slip and you'll end up Raving & Drooling until you end up with Nothing -
only ever had a problem with a Thumb NT5 in that the tuner is incredibly close to the nut so I had to get an Elites B String that tapered as soon as it went over the nut

I once received a 1976 Rickenbacker 4001 in a cheap flimsy gig bag with a burst zip and some brown tape wrapped around the bag once. the bass was in perfect condition when it arrived. I have no idea how the courier thought that it was acceptable to take it like that.

1983/4 MIJ Squire SQ P - change pickups/electronics ?
Delberthot replied to tedmanzie's topic in Accessories and Misc
I put 1/4 pounders in my SQ when I had it as I didn't like the stock pickups and I was playing in a Black Sabbath tribute band at the time -
I bought a 5 string for one song - Get Lucky Yes it sounds silly but every time I heard it I heard that low B being played by my favourite bass player Nathan East I just had to have one since we would be playing it with the band. Since I bought it I've found so many different ways in which it helps me to play the set with the wedding band and actually few of them involve going below the 3rd fret of the B string which was where the D tuner on the Precision took me. I had played for about 20 years between 5s and 6s before going back to a 4 string, including several years incorporating fretless, acoustic, semi acoustic, 8s and 12ers. But if you're not needing the fifth string or don't find that you wish you could play certain patterns without moving too much then stick with the 4

The bass I could not be without would be the one that I am currently using and I don't mean the Yamaha BB1025, literally whatever bass I am using at the time. I've had well over 100 and used to buy and sell just cos I fancied changing and trying something else. I happened to need a 5 string with the current band so bought a nice cheap Yamaha BB425 but it was so good it became my main instrument to the extent that I bought a BB1025. I won't get to use it until next weekend though which is a pain but it means that I have time to modify my Boss AB-2 to run on mains power so that I can pick up the BB425 in an emergency

BIN is £589 Granted there will be shipping and customs charges but still. I've never understood why G&L basses are so much cheaper than Musicman ones, to me they are an evolution of the Stingray and I prefer the sound of them.
