1. If you listen to it with headphones, you can hear a squeak every time Ringo hits his bass drum pedal.
2.
I've never heard a bass solo I like.
This ain't that bad. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=blp7hPFaIfU
3.
That is so true, Skank. That's what these people don't realise - being in a band isn't what you think being in a band is going to be like. They want to be in a band, but when they find out what being in a band is like, they don't really want to be in a band any more. Hence the crap attitude. They turn up occasionally (having done no work) just so they can tell their friends they are in a band. For a lot of unintelligent and non-committal people, 'being in a band' is just a concept or a premise or a thought. The actual 'being in a band' bit of 'being in a band' is bloody hard work, and these stupid, workshy, feckless, unreliable, untalented frigging fecking pigs should just stop wasting everyone's time and do us all a favour by fecking off out of it and not coming back! /rant
Yes, I was in a virtual band a couple of years ago. They had the website and the Facebook page but never gigged. I left 2 years ago...........the other members probably even haven't noticed yet.
4. Ahhhh.....it's T Rex's 'Get It On'.
5. I fitted an Eminence, 4 ohm, 450 Watt, Kappa speaker into an Ashdown EB 150 cabinet. It sounds great and is stupidly loud when connected to my 500w Mibass head. Sometimes you just have to experiment.
6. A Jazz, with a J retro pre amp, does the lot. In fact, since I got the J retro, although I still hanker over other basses, I can't really justify buying one.
7. You could fit a vintage style bridge to your present Jazz Bass which allows you to experiment with string spacing. Here's a link http://www.guitarpar...b0RkalZIWnZKSGM
8. Seems pretty dumb to me that you can't rip the CD to mp3 files, when you can save the same album, of mp3 files you bought from amazon or wherever, to your PC, laptop, ipod, phone or tablet, without breaking the law.
9. I usually go 'Dunk' and the sound person says 'thanks that's great'.
10. If it was bought new from a shop, I would send it back for a replacement. If it was 'as new' but secondhand from a private seller, I would keep it, as long as it was a good player and the damage doesn't affect your ability to play it.
11. A bass player I know, has a Blazer with a P/J. He bought it new and added the Jazz pickup sometime in the early 90's. This is him and his bass.
12. There may be a fuse in your amp that has gone. The fuse, in the harmonica player in my band's Fender Bassman, went about a year ago. She didn't have a spare, so decided to wrap it in silver foil, fit it back in the amp, and carry on. It worked, but it could have caused internal damage to the amp (and her) if there was an electrical issue with the amp, which caused the fuse to blow in the first place. She now carries spare fuses to every gig.
13. Hmmmmm.......I assume that makes your two single coil pickups into a big old humbucker. Any sound files to show what that sounds like? I'm assuming it's a bit like a P bass?
14. My definition of a 'dive bar' is when you think you may end up in a fight, by the end of the night, with one (or all) of the clientele.
15.
Are you sure you had a vocalist?
He did what he was told. Although he didn't have a clue how to set up his PA. He left that to the keyboard player.
16. Just walk into the pub with a boombox on your shoulder playing your bands demo REALLY LOUD! Warning......it could end in tears.
17. For about 4 years I played in a band with no guitarist - just bass, drums, keys and vocals. It was like a Utopian dream. No ego bullshit or toddler, temper tantrums.
18. It must be refreshing to play so many different basses, with very different sounds. Especially when when you've been identified with a specific 'Geddy Lee' bass tone for so many years.
19. are you saying it's incredibly heavy..........and it doesn't have a speaker in it? Yikes!
20. I've just joined a newly formed country band. Oh dear, what have I done?
21. Make him play with reeds. He can batter away as much as he wants with those and it won't damage anybody's hearing.
22. My Band, The Dana Dixon Band, are supporting Janiva Magness in Edinburgh tomorrow at the world famous Spiegeltent . She's groovy and so are we. Come along.
23. If he believes what he's saying he's in for a big let down. Nice basses, but worth about £200. Although I did see this one go for £300 the other day. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bass-Guitar-Squire-Fender-/121682142426?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2047675.l2557&nma=true&si=IpAg8yUpN0IrxJkWzVG09Jq5QFc%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc
24. I bought a ticket for FQ a few years ago..........he didn't turn up. I bought another ticket a year later................he didn't turn up. He was booked for another gig about a year later........I didn't buy a ticket this time. Thank f*** because............you guessed it...........he didn't turn up.
