1. Humble Yamaha TRBX 304 or 504 being used by Songhoy Blues.
 2. OK, slightly more useful, 51m0n has written lots on compression on here - here's a link to one of his recommendations. There's also an excellent archived piece by him if you search deeply enough: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/184174-which-compressor-pedal/page__p__1771724__hl__51m0n__fromsearch__1#entry1771724
 3.
I raised this point sometime back and I was firmly told I was talking complete trash. Youngsters are as excited about music now as they ever were. Privately I think video games and other tech has been the replacement activity that now provides the distraction and entertainment. The exception to this is where the young have musical role-models who help keep live music on the agenda.
Video games and tech are really mass market. I think some people are thinking that playing an instrument is way more mainstream than it actually is, or ever was.
 4. Pretender bass player had an interesting rig - two Ampegs with one 410 each, and a little Portaflex that didn't seem to be mic'ed up.
 5. Another swift and easy transaction with Dave with new, longer jack to speakon cable arriving in the post today. Thanks Dave.
 6.
But bus and taxi no problem ?
7.
Just watching it now. Whilst I can see the point of drum screens, and if it helps on stage sound levels, mic bleed, etc and makes for a better sound then fair play, I really think it looks odd, like the drummer is in the shower or something. Really good performance so far though
Martin Chambers has used one for a long time. I'm guessing he's a pretty big hitter, and wouldn't be surprised if Chrissie Hynde requested (insisted on) it. Tedeschi Trucks Band have drummers and amplification behind screens, but not as tall as this one.
 8. Really enjoying it on iPlayer - proper rock & roll live performance. That's where it is all at for me!
 9.
Hi Mike. For song writing - all of them except for a Christmas CD he put out for some inexplicable reason. For the bass playing, the early ones had Hutch Hutchinson on bass, the middle period had the marvellous Reggie McBride and the latter period has a role call of some of the great bassists still active today. IMO they are all good, but I'd start with Just Like You, Keep It Simple, Suitcase, The Reflection, Slowdown and The Door. Then work around to the others in time. There is also an early DVD Keb Mo sessions at West 54th which is worth owning. Edit: there's an Infinity Hall gig on Youtube with Vail Johnson on bass and a few more videos worth watching with his current line up, Stan Sargeant on bass.
Thanks Chris.
 10.
I'm not a "completest" by any means and there are a couple of stinkers in here that even I wouldn't buy, but I have nearly all the CD's and some of the vinyl by the Band, Little Feat, Keb Mo and Delbert McClinton.
I need some Keb Mo in my library but there's a lot to choose from - care to point me in the right direction Chris? Thanks. (Thread hijack over)!
 11.
It's a cycical thing. We get the same sort of articles over here every few years. I remember journalists claiming guitar music was dying in the 90s just before the Britpop explosion of the 90s, and again shortly before Artic Monkeys inspired a whole load of new guitar bands.
Yes, the piece managed to completely miss Oasis, who single handedly revived the ES style guitar.
My niece is in her mid twenties and she would disagree. She and her friends love guitar, based, bands. She loved Johnny Marr, and John Mayer (very different styles), when she was growing up. She also loved Courtney Love and her band Hole, which were very guitar based. She loved guitars so much that she stole her dad's and formed her own band. Her band is doing pretty good and she plays to sold out venues in the UK and Europe (she's toured the US too, a couple of times). She's now one of the 10 acts that have been shortlisted for the Scottish Album Of The Year awards 2017. Hopefully she'll inspire a whole new generation of kids to get themselves an electric guitar. I know it was the best decision, the 16 year old me, ever made. This is her...........guitar bands rule!!
That's great! Oh, and plenty of guitars in use in Somerset this weekend!!
 12. Seeing this thread revisited reminded me a needed a new, slightly longer speaker cable. Just ordered and yet again excellent service from Dave.
 13. Fabulous. Really like the whole Tiny Desk Concert concept. Dad3353 - with you on the drummer comment. Would love to play with him.
 14.
Not so fast. I'm gigging in Stockport tonight so I'll report back if anyone's still traumatised

Your 1,000th post!!
Obviously the post count doesn't include kebab status updates!!
 15.
Shameless plug but my Gordon Smith Gypsy is still kicking around the for sale section somewhere!
When I saw the topic I came on here to suggest one of these! Didn't know there was one up for sale though. Great guitars.
 16.
awaiting a "P" fretless, well its on order...had to give into gas.
Ha, saw you gassing on Facebook. Looks great.
 17.
I play for at least half an hour every day, often more often. I still get blisters when I play live as I play much harder on stage
Yes, was always gigging that did it to me until I switched to flats. Tried the turning up and playing with a lighter touch but as soon as it was showtime the adrenaline kicked in and I start digging in. Always plucking, not fretting hand though.
 18. Even at that final price somebody got a nice deal.
 19.
The SE Bash is the best attended of all, so what works fine for smaller bashes will not necessarily work in its case. The requirements are: - a venue that's easy enough to reach by car and has lots of parking; extra points if it's close to a train station and bus services - several large rooms, separated from each other ideally by soundproof doors - ideally a nice foyer area for BC sales tables and the raffle - basic kitchen facilities and toilets The ground floor of a school would usually fulfill all of those requirements, but there can also be other suitable places.
I could make enquiries at my local school (I have contacts there through hiring for the rugby club). Burgess Hill is central Sussex and only an hour from London by train.
 20. Have a word with this guy, Russ Hunt. Only an hour away from you: https://www.facebook.com/whiterabbitshrewsbury/
 21.
Totally understand using them if you are a solo artist or duo. If you are a full band i.e. guitar, bass, drums etc, IMO I call it cheating.
Don't quite follow your logic there. Surely if it is cheating for a band it is an even bigger cheat for a solo artist/duo?
 22.
Worth a punt? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/122532184076?_trksid=p2045573.m570.l5999&_trkparms=gh1g%3DI122532184076.N36.S1.R1.TR2
If that is local to you, and you like mellow warmth then snap it up straight away!
