1. Why is it that female bassists can look so much cooler than guys?
2. *deafening silence of people queuing up to disagree, not*
3. Alex, your guitarist is an utter twat.
4. These pedals are worth at least £4000. Sorry, couldn't resist. +1 on them being better than the OC3.
5. I quite like the question on the Bass Player mag's 'Introduce Yourself' section, "what was your lightbulb moment?". I think it'd be a good one for pretty much every player.
6. I sing. Dabbled with drums at school but never got far beyond 4-on-the-floor. That's about it. Oh, and I play a sh*t hot air-guitar.
7.
Sometimes even just getting EMG pups is a hassle!
Can say that again. Jon's said that in the past EMG have had him tearing (what's left of) his hair out in frustation. I think they dragged their heels a bit with my TWs.
8. That colour plumbs hitherto unknown depths of wrongness. I thought pink cars were bad enough (apart from FAB1 of course), but that colour has given me eyestrain just looking at the picture.
9. That headstock is a face only a mother could love. Ug-leeeeeeee.
10. Stevie Ray Vaughan -- Little Wing (for my money, superior to Hendrix's original) Madness -- One Step Beyond The Specials -- Gangsters (not strictly a cover of Prince Buster's 'Al Capone' but based heavily on it, and an utter classic)
11. God yes, her Fields Of Gold is beautiful too.
12.
Well I meant none of the above that I had mentioned I agree with Bohemian Rhapsodie being pretty dang un-coverable!
Not so... many years back I saw a band in an hotel in Jakarta play an absolutely blinding version of this... they had all the vocal harmony parts spot-on, everything. It was brilliant, I mean goose-bumpingly good.

Profane

Shame, he's a nice guy.
14.
Joe Cockers "With a Little Help............."
Absolutely, definitely +1000000. JC's is the definitive version of that song. JMHO of course.
15. Watching this with keen interest.
Okay, talked me into it. The larger transformer is the mains one the smaller is the output transformer. There is a 12ax7 pre-amp/driver valve and a Mullard EL90 output valve which is part of the EL34, EL84 family and sounds great IMHO. The VT1-Purist-Pro is acting as the main pre-amp and will push the output stage into overdrive with ease. The finished amp will have a 400W SS power amp, DI and Line out, VT1 pre-amp, tone controls, valve blended Fx loop, valve compressor and tuner mute. Dave
Perfect. All it needs is a rackmount kit.
16.
I used to use Rotosound flats, but I had three sets of crap ones turn up in one order once and haven't risked them since.
That's what killed Rotos for me -- 2 crap sets in a row. And then a few years later, the same thing happened with Elites.
17.
there's a nice fretless mini-solo in the long version of Gary Moore's "empty rooms". there are clips on youtube with Bob Daisley playing it live, I think it was Mo Foster who played it on record.
It certainly was, and he's another geezer well worth checking out fretlessly. His solo album 'Bel Assis' is superb. (As is his book '17 Watts?', it's a scream.)
18. And now the same recording but this time JUST THE BASS..!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IfDE-ZvfOwU...ted&search= (Note: nothing happens until 00:53 or so... then all hell breaks loose..!) I like some of the comments from the muppets who are convinced that's a Warwick bass...
19. Ohhhhhhh that bass tone... *goosebumps*
20. Bugger. I've used parcel2go a few times and they've been very good, but it looks like they've just lost my custom. If their cover for even a cased guitar is going to be less than the price of a Stagg, bollocks to 'em.
21. I play a lot of gigs and have done for years, but I'm no more a 'real' musician than you are. Surely a 'fake musician, i.e. not a 'real' one, is someone who only plays air guitar..?
22. More emoticons??
23.
When you roll over for a cuddle and accidentally play 'Satisfaction' instead.
*coffee->screen* Straight to the Quotes thread for that one, I think
24.
I got a Bass Central T-shirt thrown at me when I was in there last year, eighteen months on and it's still as good as ever.
What, you've had it on for eighteen months..? Isn't it a tiny bit funky by now?
