1. Awwwww the ladies, bless 'em
 2.
Ok, so who is entering the advertised Bass Idol? (Just so I know who to cheer for )
Not me. If I want to blow £20 pointlessly, I'll go put it on England to retain the Rugby World Cup.
 3. That little cut in the mid range on your diagram will not be helping matters. It's the mids that will cut through the mix and stop you being 'droney'.
 4. Good
 5.
Ashdown has my vote for the bang for the buck.
As long as you like the way they sound...
 6. I've just had my initial flip through to check the contents... blige, I bet Rickenbacker must be well chuffed with all that advertising. The Sei looks gorgeous and it'll be nice to see what Tony Levin has to say, but by the time I've finished reading the mag I will know far more than I ever wanted/needed to about Rickies..!
 7. And more to the point, what are you getting instead?
 8. Don't get one then.
 9.
i think even Stu Hamm has moved over to peavey bass rigs(?).
Nope, not any more. This from an unofficial Stu Hamm website.
 10.
If you were that bothered by the name, you could always take the horrible, dated logo off the front grill. That's what I always used to do.
Yup, I did that too on my 4x10s. They looked loads better. They were great cabs, but the weight was ridiculous... I sold them to downsize. The T-Max, what a superb amp that was.
 11. 42 years old, I play almost exclusively 5 strings. I do a little bit of slap here and there, when there's call for it in the music, but in the main I am a pocket-dwelling groover, a bus-driver... I'm part of the Engine Room, and proud of it.
 12.
W H Smith usually has it - look very carefully, it's always behind something like Oboe Weekly and Sitar Times .
Yup, and next to Mouse Mat World and Your Lawnmower.
 13. I had a 5-string Sei Flamboyant for a while, and it was simply amazing. The craftsmanship was out of this world. PS add Wal and Manson to the list.
 14.
Have you noticed that sound limiters are now set for bass rather than vocals or guitar - used to be we could play pretty loud but the guitarist couldn't .. seems they have worked out that bass travels through buildings more than lead or vox...
Ahh yes, the Prom on Gloucester Road... the 'sound'guy there is almost phobic about bass. "Hey, you'll have to turn the bass down... I can hear it." God I hate playing that place. There's usually a good crowd, but I'm sick and tired of not hearing a single note I play all night.
 15. I was playing a jazz gig once when some bloke approached me and asked if we could do Paranoid by Black Sabbath...
 16.
I've just bought one. You can read about it here: http://www.finnbass.com/showthread.php?t=936
Are you still reasonably happy with it, a month down the line (or maybe that should be "line6")?
 17. This is one doubleneck I would go deep into debt to buy.
 18. I've got brycebites' old 3500 head, I use it for rehearsals etc. with my Nemesis cabs and it sounds great. I'd highly recommend it if you can pick one up cheap. Can't comment on the HA3000.
 19.
Assuming you don't already have custom moulded ear protection!

+1
+2
 20.
I must say ,for me,Theres nothing attractive about a female at the end of a gig that stinks of Stella and 20 fags. Anyone shallow enough to swoon over a coversband, kinda makes me raise an eyebrow. Yeah that was a tad harsh but Ive had my run ins with groupies and the 'Oh you play guitar amazing' type (Its not a Guitar..its a Bass). Im past that sh*t now, love me for what I am,not what you think I may be.!
Harsh? Er yeah, somewhat. Would you like to re-word that sweeping generalisation a bit, or did you really mean to have a pop at those of us who have ever met a partner at one of our gigs?
 21. I have no problem with Sound Control the company, good luck to them and yes it would be sad to see them go under. What I do have a problem with is the attitude I encountered last time I went in there (see my previous post, and also many others here), which basically means they won't be seeing any more of my hard-earned. Repeat that too many times, and hey presto an empty shop. That's what needs to be addressed. In fairness they aren't the only shop to have had such poor employees -- I won't be going back to the Bass Cellar for similar reasons.
 22.
And then they even took my bass and gear bag to the bus station for me, and only stopped when the bus driver said they either had to pay of i had to carry my own stuff (Dammit) This is the life!
Ah, the bus driver was only jealous. He's obviously not getting any.
 23.
right, this has been annoying me for a while. What exactly are straplocks? Because ive heard of some basses having to be modded to accomodate them, and other people just buying them willy nilly. And me, using these little circle plastic things :S
OK, please forgive me if I end up teaching granny... these are Schaller strap locks: The thing at the bottom with the screw replaces the existing strap button on your bass... the other bit is attached to your strap. You clip one to the other and hey presto, your strap won't fall off. You take it off again by pulling up on the knob bit and sliding it off the button. The handy thing about these Schaller ones is that you can still use the bass with a normal strap.
 24. Ohhhh boy, the Bose outlet in Bicester Retail Village... I wandered in there with a colleague after we'd been working at Aynho Junction, & found they were doing a ridiculous special offer on one of their home cinema sound systems, the one with the little cube speakers... I soooo very nearly left with one.
 25. I met my ex-wife at one of our gigs. Every time I looked into the crowd, she was looking at me and smiling. I found her afterwards and we started talking and... it was all downhill from there. Well, we got two wonderful kids out of it, so can't have all been bad.
