  1. "I've has found a website where I can get bands for free!" Yes, of course he has. The bloke is a total chancer. Definitely sounds like yet another decent venue disappearing down the bonzo dog. Have you got enough other decent regular haunts to make up for it? Small consolation I know, but.
  2. Great gig on Saturday night, only tempered by the fact that by the time I got home my favourite kebab emporium was closed. Gutted, I really fancied one of their large chicken/doner combos. Went to bed with a rumbly tumbly and thoughts of what might have been. Cue the nano-violins.

Tsk tsk, there seem to be more and more threads and status updates about kebabs on here these days!
      I think it's all Les's fault ;)

Brutal, that's happened to me before.  You did the right thing though, straight to bed rather than whatever's in the fridge and some flat coke!

  3. Saturday night was my 4th gig with the ska band. Best yet good crowd up and dancing from the 'n' of the first note, the band were on fine form and a terrific laugh was had by all. I'm barely having to refer to my notes at all now, in a couple of gigs' time I'll be able to abandon them altogether. Evening only tempered by the fact that by the time I got home, my favourite kebab emporium was closed damn shame, I was in the mood for one of their amazing chicken/doner combos.
  4. Please lay off the politics and religion, folks. Ta. 👍
  5. Yup, it'll only take 70 years or so 😄
  6. WHAT? DID YOU SAY 'FANNIES ALLOW DUST RINGING A LOOM'? WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?
  7. WHAT? SPEAK UP! SORRY, I CAN'T HEAR YOU OVER MY HARTKE 3500'S FAN.
  8. What does a cab shootout usually entail (apart from cabs )? I'm guessing a neutral-sounding amp for starters, in which case my Shuttle 6.0 will be freely available if required?
  9. Mike, I've just updated the list on this post to include the bits I'll bring if I can make it (work permitting).
  10. Nothing like this ever happens in my band. We're all crap and we know it.
  11. Knowle is many things, but 'grassy' isn't really one of them
  12. It was that doyenne of the UK session scene, the incomparable Tony Goggle. He's been the subject of considerable discussion on BC in the past.
  13. Jamerson's supernatural playing on "What's Goin' On?" and "For Once In My Life" alone are enough to make him a total genius, and that's all I need to know.
  14. Why do people do that? All she needed to say was "Sorry, my mistake. Anyway, as I said, it went well..." and just carry on as normal. It's the 21st century FGS, surely we should be well past the point where someone's sexuality is the cause for Lego-face or hole-digging?
  15. I've got 4s, but to be honest they barely get used, certainly not in a band context. I play 5s pretty much exclusively these days. Can't see that changing.
  16. Me - 'Could I take a look at that <insert name of very nice bass here> please?' Them - *30 seconds of slappity tappity wick-wack-wocky nonsense* 'Here you go.' Me - *plays two notes* 'Nah, don't like it.' *hands it straight back, walks out* I have actually done this, and it is tremendously satisfying.
  17. Play nicely or the thread gets it. Thank you.
  18. Our frontman takes frequent large swigs from a Jack Daniels bottle... ...that he fills with iced tea before the gig
  19. And you could leave your front door open. And the policemen looked older too. Eee, I remember when all this were trees. Is it time for my nap yet? All joking aside, I have to say I agree with you. Liz Fraser, my god what a spinetingling voice she had/has. Ooh, get me, an older person daring to express an opinion eh. Perhaps I should belt up, seeing as I'll never be as famous as Hendrix Lemur.
  20. I originally heard it as "...a dog with two c*cks" and "N-Dubz".
  21. Rancid's 'Time Bomb' is now in the ska band set. I'm a happy camper :-D

Nice! Now try and get some Slapstick, The Broadways or Voodoo Glow Skulls in there.

    2. Raggy

      Raggy

       A firm favourite

  22. You and I both. When I first saw the Modern V, my very first thought was not "oh look, a contemporary take on the classic Flying V" so much as "oh look, a completely unimaginative and no doubt stratospherically priced ripoff of the Roswell Rhoads". I suspect this may not be the reaction Gibson were hoping for.
  23. Oh good choice sir. One of my favourite songs ever. My personal choice would be Once Around The World with the original It Bites lineup. Or perhaps Milliontown with Frost*.
