1. Why not just keep it?! I play my 6 string with all bands that use a 5 string range, even if I barely touch the C (think I use it on one track for an octave, and sometimes throw it in but nothing on record) Unless you've got something else on the way? Either way, lovely bass! All the best with sale, oh and just so everyone knows, Visions are EPIC!
2. The bassist for Feeder ( Taka Hirose ) broke his nose trying to smash his bass by swinging it at the floor london calling style, other than cracking the finish the bass bounced up and hit him square in the face!
3. The Digitech bass driver is £40-£45 at most places and I think it's a seriously underrated pedal. The Digitech stuff just plays so nicely with other pedals too!
4. Certainly a weird one, doesn't really capture your sound in it's true form, so if that's what you're after it's not really for you. But if you like the chimey polyphonic sound, then it's really cool. I'm ALWAYS nicking my brothers, which i use mostly for solo stuff or a soundscaping duo I'm in (thankfully, with said brother haha!) Useful for Bass? Well, down to how you use it, but I like it and have lots of fun with it, I use it a fair amount for completely unaccomanied stuff when doing more abstract stuff. Tried it with the band and it wasn't really too great for that (just my experience anyway! Playing rockier stuff to heavy stuff) due to that sort of Polyphonic sound, maybe in a thick mix the chimey-ness and overtones wouldn't be as much an issue? Kept sticking out to me though so I turned it off pretty quick, and it didn't play well with the Distortion stuff I was doing, (which I use 90%) but that was probably more me than the effects. Love the things though, would love to have 2 Super Egos, or a handful of Freeze pedals. Scott Fernandez (top chap! 12 string bass player (ERB)) uses them a lot (the freeze pedals) if you want some examples! Just look him up on youtube
5.
At the risk of being told (once again) that I am somehow wrong and my opinion is anything ranging from wrong to idiotic, I use the "tenner off eBay" option, the Etymotic ER-20. They take a bit of getting used to but I use them all the time at band rehearsals, playing and watching gigs. To be quite honest, I prefer how live music sounds with them in rather than out. There are two sizes, I use the small, regular ones got uncomfortable during extended use. I don't know the ins and outs of it but basically in a nutshell when I forget them, I have hissy noises in my ears after gigs/rehearsals. I don't have that if I have been wearing them and that's good enough evidence for me.
+1 From me! I'm the same Matt!
6.
Even if you knew where I lived in Aberdeen you'd stilll have to get past the dozen or so killer guard haggis I have stationed 24 hours a day out side....
Oh you live in THAT part of the Deen!
7. Any more thought been put into this? Would be up for it and for helping out!
8. That's brilliant Rich! Where are the 10 dates by the way? Need to see you guys live ASAP!
9. Played a few of the Japanese ESP basses and guitars, they are phenomninal. Not hugely keen on the western (UK/Europle/US) versions but the Japanese stuff is incredible build quality and tone. Went on a trip to their custom shop and it was one of the coolest things I've ever seen! Played a few ESP LTD basses and really liked them, I've been very tempted by one of the F series basses and swapping out the pickups, lovely!
10. Russ (Binky on here) must have some heavy basses! Those ERB's can't be that light!
11. Well I NEED to see this one before you leave!
12.
I'll get them up. Its amazing! Actually insanely light! You'll need to try it man dont you need a 6 string?
Haha! The Yammie sees more of me than the 6 string. The sixer just covers the heavier stuff, and anything that needs sweeps Hoping to whip up a 4 string super P design with Rich after I saw yours drying! But speaking of ERBs I was interested in planning an 8 string... F# to F if you were wondering ha!
13. Can't wait for all the pictures
14. I thought the bass could maybe have done a bit more in that track to keep it driving but that's me being cynical Love the entire album. I love trying to work out which of the three bass players did what on the album too ha! The bass solo on track 3, Gorgio by Moroder is great!
15. So tempted to get one now! What ever happened to the pac 9 by the way?
16. Welcome to the slide! Been playing 11 years now. Loved every minute
17.
G&L L-1000 boom!
Just you wait till you build me something
18. Bare Knuckle gets my vote!
19. Oooft so jealous! Think I'll get a custom before an ATT 3, but I really want one!
20. I like the way you think
21.
I'm in favour for a bit of brand consistency and look but with different colourings.
+1 Agreed!
22. I remember throwing this idea around with Davie and Rich a few years ago! I'd be up for this! 18 two weeks tomorrow too
23.
You'll enjoy my latest wee project the next time you visit then.
Well I'll see you at some point this week then
24.
Yeah it is! That's sort of where the idea came from. I love the sound of a Jazz, but can't hack the spindly necks.
Been interested in doing something like this for ages! But I just can't summon the funds. Would love a chunky P neck on a raspy Jazz body!
25.
Isn't that Delberthot's?
Looks like it! http://basschat.co.uk/topic/214820-turbo-charged-dean-custom-zone-bass-with-dimarzio-will-power/page__p__2178634#entry2178634
