1.
I don't know if you guys have seen this vid (it seems new). It features a Frog with an ACG/East filter preamp with familiar looking pickups. In fact the general look of the area of the bass shown in the vid is very familiar. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bh2asjr2k8c
I want it

  3. I cant wait for mine to turn up now. I reckon I've got about another month to wait
  4.
Thanks walbassist - the text said a five string anyway and I'm after a four string. Thomann lists this tobacco burst model as out of stock but available to order; at £950 it looks good value? http://www.thomann.de/gb/sandberg_forty_eight_4_vm_tobacco_burst.htm?ref=search_rslt_forty+eight_368584_3
Thats a good looking bass to be fair. Go for it!
  5. They're pretty new out. Thomann had a 4 string for £1,200 a few months ago but I'm still yet to see one in the flesh. Haven't seen one second hand yet either.
  6. Does it have to be fender? If not the Lakland Duck Dunn is a monster.
  7.
I don't, maybe Cocco or Ezbass will know. They seem to have sent emails regarding Elwoods lately!
no idea, mines a Jake
  8. Neckdive on every jazz bass I've ever played while sitting down. Drives me up the wall.
  9. Squiers CV and VM ranges are incredibly good instruments for the money. Maruszczyk Elwood's start at €890 which is just under £650. They're getting some serious BC love at the moment
  10. Gorgeous! Personally I'd have kept the matching headstock, but that looks amazing (as I said personally). I imagine getting an already good bass modified to that degree and having an improved version of it back must if anything be better than getting an actual new bass. Congrats!
  11.
I don't slap, but if I were to, I'd try one of the long scale, bolt-on neck, maple bodied Gibsons... probably a G3 or Victory - they are NOTHING like the EB/tbird/LP basses that most people associate with Gibson... ie no mahogany, no short scale, no overwound humbuckers - the Victory Artist is active too (with a passive mode) and I suspect would give you exactly what you want. But to be fair these are the least Gibsony Gibsons....
To add to this, my old maple bodied grabber had an amazing slap sound.
  12. Damn, I really like that. Just ordered a Maruszczyk though.
  13.
I recently picked up this 89 SR800LE, it's quite black indeed.
Love that bass. I'd love an early SR, is it as good as it looks?
  14.
Design one yourself & get Jon Shuker to make for you your perfect bass
Love that! Is it basically a 24 fret P bass? Whats the pickup? Also love the murdered out look. I have a Maruszczyk on order that's as black as its possible to be aswell.
  15.
Speaking of G&L, my revelation of the year was dropping an MFD into a Squier Matt Freeman, a sort of poor man's L1000. It easily holds it's own against my other (much more expensive) basses
That's an awesome idea!

    Pedal preamps?
DHA VT1 DI EQ. I've tried Sansamps, MXRs, Aguilars and kept coming back to the Dave Hall - if you want the sound of a valve being driven hard, then get a valve and drive it hard!
As you'll see from my signature there is no lack of valves in my rig. I've never heard of that one. I'm gonna Google it

    Pedal preamps?

I've had my trusty Sansamp BDDI for 10 years come January, while there's really nothing wrong with it, it would appear the market for gritty pedal preamps has exploded and I quite fancy a change. Whats good at the moment?
  18. I wonder what the most purchased brand has been on BC this year. I've bought new from Ibanez and Maruszczyk, and second hand Laney and Markbass.
  19.
Wanted a PJ for a new project and as an alternative to my Bob Glaub been watching the thread with interest and based on the comments about people's experience and quality of the instruments decided to order a jake from stock. Buying experience was excellent bass arrived 3 days after ordering it First impressions really light, excellent finish quality hardware , haussel pick ups are really hot , neck slimmer and shallower than I would normally choose but found it really easy to get used to Used at rehearsal last night sounded great in a full band setting, normally use flats but have left the rounds on and am liking the contrast. Sorry about the poor quality pictures but you get the idea
Congrats mate. I agonised over that one for a good few days.
  20.
...and a snapshot from today after finally getting the SR800LE last Friday after a 25 or so year search. I think it's time to stop for sure. That being said, I really would like to get a Wal MkII in the future
There's a few in there on my bucket list!

  22. Depending on how my incoming Jake goes. I may have to order a Mr Tee with two Jazz buckers in it.
