Ibanez SR 1200e in VNF (vintage natural flat?) Really playable bass, the SR body shape is super comfortable and the neck is lightning fast. Great range of tones available from the Nordstrand big singles and 3 band EQ. It has an almost Warwick quality to it which I guess is to do with the woods. Being from the Ibanez premium range this has gotoh tuners and comes with the Ibanez fitted case. Two small dings in the back of the body, otherwise pretty perfect condition wise. Everything works as it should. Great way into a wenge necked bass if that's your thing (this is panga panga, which I'm reliably told is wenge for all intents and purposes, just from a different part of the world). Collection preferred from Pontyclun, but postage is possible at buyers cost and risk. I commute to Bristol. Any trial welcome.

1978 Peavey T-40. Natural and maple. First version with the slightly less contoured body and "toaster" pickups. In good condition but has been played, definitely not a case queen. There are marks. I've been its custodian for 20 years, it's a great bass but just isn't getting played and it's too good to sit in a rack. These are an "if you know, you know" type of thing, but for those that don't it's a fully passive bass with some really powerful passive electronics. The tone controls operate as expected, but you get humbucker from 1-8 and single coil from 8-10. The front switch is a pickup selector and the back one is phase, or coil selection depending on which pickup is selected and where the tone control is, It's not as complicated as it sounds though. Those definitely aren't mudbuckers! Yes, it's heavy. But perfectly manageable on a decent strap. Comes with a generic gig bag. I'd prefer not to post but happy to discuss at buyers risk and expense. I live in Pontyclun but commute to Bristol. Any trial welcome.

How far have you travelled to pick up a Bass?
cocco replied to HeadlessBassist's topic in Bass Guitars
420 miles from South Wales to Manchester and back for an ampeg 8x10 back in the day, with a terrible hangover. -

Wow. A handsome brute indeed.

I've recently had Jon build a neck and assemble a P bass for me, it turned out way better than I could have expected. Seeing all these is making me want to get a full build at some point.

Good lord that looks amazing. Congratulations!

Wow that's lovely and I can imagine how good it is. I have a Shuker neck on a P bass partscaster that he also assembled and set up. Absolutely sublime instrument.

Fender jazz bass american special, part ways or not?

Personally I'd keep the Jazz. It sounds like you're just bored. T-birds are cool, but have terrible ergonomics and are less versatile. The other two are Jazz adjacent. -
That's very cool. What a great example.

I'd definitely recommend speaking to Jon. Like I said it worked out basically the same price as a similarly spec'd Warmoth guitar neck. The only downside really was the wait.

I've just finished a build with all gotoh hardware including elephant ear resolites. Really impressed with them. They're stable, feel great and obviously are ridiculously light. Here's a photo of them in situ.

Fair enough, assuming it's the same result through both that's my hypothesis disproven. Could it be a dodgy string or pickup? *edit* or something set up related?
