1. That's really nice. I love the Talman shape, it's got a surfiness about it. I reckon this is gonna cause the VM jag shorty a few problems at this price.
2.
Ok, it's here, not doing an NBD yet as it wouldn't be fair. It seems to have arrived with a bit of a back bow as it's choking like crazy and buzzing like an angry bee, and the action is way too low but the bridge Saddles seem ok. So, I need to figure out the whole truss rod thing. If its a bottom of neck truss rod which way do you turn it to raise the strings? First pickup test is good but difficult to say for sure cos of the buzzing.
Mine was the same. ridiculously low action out of the box. my truss rod took 1/4 turn tighter and it was instantly better. I also scrapped the original lighter than light strings after about a week
3. I have the SR605. It's a lovely thing. Super easy to play, action out of the box is amazing. Piano like tone, very even across all strings and the length of the fretboard. It really bats out of its league. It's incredibly comfortable to wear aswell.
4.
after much deliberation I went for haussel pick ups..
I can't tell you how great it sounds then. But I can tell you the Jazzbucker on its own is very useable
5.
Another... Sofa pic from the latest batch..I have been looking at this thread for weeks waiting for mine to be ready.. Just seemed the right thing to do to share
Love it! Did you go for the Maruszczyk pickups?
6.
Some of these are looking really nice, especially the all black ones. So what is the deal with this builder? Those showroom pics are insane, does he have the body/neck mass produced, buys them in and customises them to spec?
Nope, all built from scratch. Hes just really good and very fairly priced
7.
It's going to be a loooong week.
It's even worse when you miss delivery and your neighbour refuses to sign for it.
8.
Great minds, eh?
Great minds indeed. I bet you can't wait for it to turn up.
9.
SOFA SHOT MOFOS!!!!!! YEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSS. It's a good week for basses in the Baker household.
Wow. It's like my bass' even more evil twin. Nice to see another black out Maruszczyk too!
10. dammit! I really want a 4 string version
11. The M2000 is a monster, but the L is worth looking at too, I played both and left with the L
12. lovely looking bass that. Its nice to see a jazz without forward facing fret markers.
13. Low budget Yammies. Every one of them bats out of its league.
14. Nothing wrong with Basswood. Well, apart from being flammable, buts that's inherently true of most woods (IME).
15. I like the look of the Schecter Ultra VI too.
16. I like it. It's a bit quirky.
17. White pickguards Wooden pickup covers More than 5 knobs Ultra slim necks Coffee table tops 6+ strings Ugly headstocks (alleva coppolo) I'm sure there's more. *edit* blue/green bursts
18. As a recent Maruszczyk buyer I can only recommend it. My Jake is pretty good
19. This was my backup head when I played Ampeg. This got far more stage time. The most road worthy amp I ever played.
20.
Hmm, I'm not so sure. Looks like the normal TBird got hit with the ugly stick:
I think it looks better this way up. I bet it balances better too, infact my only slight gripe is that the controls are all in a line and the jack is on the side of the body. I much prefer the old school gibson look. But thats a drop in the ocean on what is otherwise a beautiful instrument. Having said that I'd still probably go for a PT4, because neither shape loos like it would be more comfortable than a P bass
