1. I think I'd quite like a Gibson Thunderbird, but was massively unimpressed with the Epiphone 'boggo' Thunderbird I had. Deaver's non-reverse Thunderbird V - through the hands of my and Guzzibass, is the best of the Epiphone outputs that I've yet played. I'd recommend it to anyone - cool bass, something very unique about it; the P/J combination made a bit more sense to me than the dual humbuckers; and it felt like you could bat people off with it, unlike some of the more fragile Epiphone builds.
2. Will a Hercules guitar stand, or something similar, not work? Pretty sure I had mine on that stand - I certainly did for the Ironbird, and that was a whole lot more problematic shape-wise!
3. A bit random this, but I fancy going with a new cover - was thinking of Crowbar, hopefully something off Crowbar - Crowbar, maybe Existence is Punishment. Was looking for a little short cut - has any transcribed any of these before? Mind if I have a look at your notes?
4.
Who are you again?
Come on now, Ian - he's our "dear friend..." Get you, Dood!
5. 6.
Is that a Wishbass? They make some cool instruments.
Cool or odd, though? Marmite to me, being honest. I'd still have one, mind
7. Stunning, skint = have a bump, chief
8. Smashing little too - spent the last five mins doodling some ideas. Now keen to go home and try!
9. f***ing love it. When I originally joined my current band, I had images of this... instead we're a little AC/DC. How the best plans come unstuck, eh? Smashing mate. Shades of Eyehategod in there, for sure. You could have put this on for me and told me it was theirs, to be honest. You don't need a second bass player do you? How do you find the Black Epi out of interest? I keep looking. Bit bored with the MIM, albeit it being out on loan at the moment. Would like something Gibbo to replace, but pockets might be more Epi.
10.
There's a glorious irony in you typing this out twice.
Outshined, come on now. As we all know, it's four times or bad things happen I can laugh, having been there. If I were in a pub I'd need to get offended four times; possibly 4 by 4 times, just to square things off. I suppose you did have four Dingwalls, however, so you may be safe.
11. Where do you keep pulling these from, Tom? Stunning, as always; envious, as always.
12. I've nailed it for you, Bilbo!
13. Pop Will Eat Itself shirt, to boot! Excellent to see the bass and learn a little more about them
14.
So I'd have to say that swapping the pickups out won't make the bass sound exactly 'like the Spector you played', but there will be a marked difference in tone of the Bass. For example, the EMG DC active pickup that Spector uses in a lot of it's basses has a very strong character or 'voice' if you will and you can definitely hear it in different instruments. Whether or not it's an improvement is personal opinion.
I think that about covers it.
15. Brilliant. You get me
16. Put 10 sugars in everyone's tea beforehand. Never fails We move about a lot during practice, it's good, er, practice! Still, it gets you a feel for it - and it's not so contrived, I don't think; just a little more comfortable to start getting your groove on when there's just the few of you in a sweaty room.
17.
Oh, and Gust0o, yes mate, Massssive Leeds United fan. I actually had the picture you have as your display pic on my iPhone wallpaper for ages. I was also at the Burnley game end of season, as well as a number of other games across the season but due to being so far away, it's not easy to get to. Hopefully that luxury won't be taken away from me!
MOT! Have a bump from a fellow White Best of luck on the job front. Might sound daft, but maybe local BC'ers might be able to aid in the search? Also, whilst I'm thinking about it - as an employer, I'd be happy to review your CV, if you'd like opinions. Always happy to help.
18. The long and short is that it depends. The import Charvels will sell for £200-£300. They're generally very good and will make a MIM Fender look like rubbish. As with such brands, the US models will have higher craftsmanship, quality parts, etc - but it depends. I think you should dig out a Charvel expert, someone like Mike/Amimbari on Talkbass - show him what you've found, the serial #, etc, and get him to point you in the right direction. I'm guessing this is the Welsh one which has been on Ebay for all eternity? I think it's still being on sale says a lot about what the general market thinks of the previous price point.
19. That looks fantastic! Also: Leeds United?
20. My MIM took a while too, to get some firm offers. The Market is very slow at the minute, so all I can say is have patience.
21.
i really wish i liked tbirds, cos they look gorgeous. but the sound and neck dive is so disappointing. good with selling
Don't confuse this with the standard version.
22. Nice one Mike
23. Very cool bit of kit. Had never heard of them before this.
