Correct me if I'm wrong but Paul Grey played a warwick thumb for a great deal more time than he was on ibanezes?
Sorry - by the time I'd started paying attention to his gear, he was on Ibanez. I think I was curious as to the differences between his Ibanez and the signature model - I'm assuming he wasn't using the stock signature; I see it was a custom shop model.
 2.
They won't get payed out by insurance companies so i'm guessing thats it for them like many of the small bussiness in croydon.
That's a bit of a presumption. I would imagine that they would also be due some form of compensation from the authorities, either under the Victims of Crime business or some other specific funding to cover this.
 3. What's the Ibanez Paul Gray used to play? His bass, not the signature one... I'm assuming there's a difference, mind.
 4.
Is there such a thing? Is there a particular bass that I could buy now, and use as a bass, not lock it away in a glass cabinet, that will hold it's value or even increase in value over the next ten years?
I'd suggest any reputable brand, and avoiding the budget lines within those brands. I'm thinking, to see an appreciable return over a ten year period, you'd most likely want something which was already on the cusp of 'vintage' or whatever the right term is. Still, it should be good enough to just get a decent bass and realise the profit later on - as so many people, who've kept their (then) pretty standard Fenders with them since the 1970s Of course, to realise the value in an investment you have to redeem it - it's the one thing I'm not so good at, even with my cheap basses
 5. Well, this explains my c*****h behaviour of the last month or so
 6. Thought I'd sold it but my buyer has gone quiet... So... Bump!
 7.
Do I detect a hint of jealousy here, gentlemen?
Of course!
 8.
Tidied
Better 'by' than 'with', I thought
 9. Let's have another bump, shall we. Would also consider decent 300W heads, trade-wise.
 10.
When he gets a bit older, he's going to wish he got good at playing the sort of music girls his age like.
+1 I can buy beer and have sex every night. You can keep your bass playing, lah
 11.

+1
 12.
what was wrong with the sound..?
+1. What didn't work?
 13. I think I prefered Unite, as the best of the bunch - closest to something I would listen to day-to-day. Closely followed by Other Side of the Line. All sounds very good for a demo, all told
 14.
Just a question - how do you know if you are good enough to join a band? Obv a bit of a wide open Q, but not having played in one before and keen to get "out there", are a few dozen songs enough, or do you need to be able to busk along or similar?
I think it's simply a case of knowing your own limits; and finding people of similar ability, to avoid any serious clashes. Open mics are good for covers/old favourites; I'd see if there aren't colleagues/friends/friends of friends fancying a jam and start from there. I will note that being in a band does offer scope for some real improvement in playing. You have to up your game - and do! Best thing I ever did
 15. That neck is insane; and beautiful; perhaps insanely beautiful.
 16.
lovely looking bass, and Gus is a great bloke, somebody should be jumping at this
Cheers Steve, very kind of you!
 17. Joinmyband, Gumtree and BandMix are all great suggestions - that and spending some time in your local music community, seeing who's advertising in rehearsal spaces; what bands are beginning to form and perform; etc. The secret thereafter is patience, I'm learning. I'm still looking for a decent vocalist. I'm filtering a lot of teenagers at the minute
 18. Fair play to Rob for his efforts - but I think we all knew he was a great guy; having bought from him on another forum, I'd testify to that. Have we covered the converse of the low ball offer? You know, those people who steadfastly refuse to acknowledge that this is a market place and thus subject to fluctuations? I think they almost invite their own frustrations.
 19.
Just found this one in stock at £239. Seems a bargain, and a cool colour. 20. Oooh, cheeky. I could be talking sh*te, but have dropped you a PM.
 21. I'll give you a bump, my darling, but I think you're staying with me
 22. No body knows the trouble I've seen; no body knows my sorrow...
 23.
Look at him on drums. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nfGIyNyT23o...feature=related Talented bastard.
He can suck himself off, too - but it's not on YouTube
 24.
The Shavo model has a 1976 headstock, thinner almost jazz profile neck, silvery white finish, two volume knobs and a kill switch. Tone is preset to his tastes. He is on the cover of Bass Guitar Magazine and talks about it in an interview.
... and still has that f***ing awful bridge!
