2. I posted this in my personal thread, but it would make more sense to join the rest of the flock here. It's had a good clean and some additional TLC, but is looking all the merrier for it - my 1976 Gibson G3 Grabber:
 3.
When a "grindy/rattly" tone is mentioned, I always think of Fleas tone. Apparently he uses a Boss ODB-3 to get that, through his set-up.
Flea genuinely uses an ODB3? I used one and doubt I could get remotely near! What am I missing, Lozz? Don't say a million-quid of cabs, sound technicians, years of experience, etc... I mean other than those things?
 4.
i'll give you 40 pence and a twix
Are you willing to split out the 40p and the Twix? I could do a Kit-Kat?
 5.
So........ what hapened to Frusciante?
He's about near a dozen solo albums - I just think he got into his own things and left the band; I don't remember there being any flare-up or drama the last time, and I'm pretty sure they all played on his last album.
 6. Your vet also covers your dentistry? Sounds like a good little gig mate, albeit in odd format -still, to get in front of so many people is surely no bad thing!
 7.
I replaced it with an EMG 35DC; it sounds and plays better now than basses that cost twice as much.
I've heard of a few people doing this, which seems more of a credit to the pick-up than the bass. A shame, I would say.
 8. Let's have a gentle bump, as this keeps almost selling...
 9. Nice work, lah, good kitchen. I have one similar, but it's a '98. The previous owner replaced the sink
 10. It's not my cup of tea for an easy listen, but that comes down to personal taste. What did I hear I knew was extremely well put together; thoughtful; and well executed. It sounded damned good, Bilbo.
 11. Very funky lah
 12.
Until he finds Bass Chat ;-)
Oh aye!
 13. Great news lah!
 14. Sounds like the JB2 then
 15. Ray for small hands though? I don't think he'd even need the extra £100 - there's a G&L JB2 for £300 on here, suitable Jazz-style bass without breaking the bank.
 16.
Second hand Mexican Fenders are a good shout if you fancy a good name bass. Pretty much any Yamaha you look at will be outstanding quality for your money and you can pick up '80s and '90s Ibanez for good money too. Truckstop
Absolutely. Very versatile, able to pull the punches for any style of music or look - and with the kudos of having the Fender brand on the headstock. Naturally, I have one for sale - but you'll find plenty of superb Mexican Precisions in the For Sale section, for up to £300. Seems the most likely choice, unless he had something specific in mind.
 17. Would be worth saying where you're based mate, if asking collection.
 18. I'm conscious I still owe someone a reply on PM, which I'll endeavour to do tonight when I've taken the measurements you want. Open to sensible offers now. Have seen some others I'm looking to take a punt at.
 19. Someone set us up the bomb!
 20.
Oasis seem to have gotten away with it.
This drew a lol
 21.
I voted £600-799 but that's in the used market...
I think I'm in this space. The first basses I've had which have felt "proper" have been within this bracket.
 22.
Blimey. I'm a minority. Do I get a grant or something? Or do I just get scapegoated in the Daily Mail?
Maybe we could apply for some kind of government grant to enable the promotion of our unique culture and arts?
 23.
There are plenty of examples of songs sounding like other ones that get all the way to being released. Some get pulled up and it goes to court but lots of times it doesn't. The longer music is around and the more people are 'creating' the more likely it is to happen, like the monkeys writing Shakespeare scenario.
So what's the etiquette then, from a legal perspective? Say if I liked one I'd come up with - what level of tweaking, reengineering or rewriting, won't see you hauled over the coals for infringing some copyright or other?
 24.
What about microtonalism?
For everything else, there's Jazz
