  1. I love the look of the finish and the neck but the pickups always look out of scale on these to me, one day I'll get hold of one of the CV Mustangs.
  2. I switch between fingers and pick depending on the song, tried all different gauges, settled on 2mm then found I couldn't grip them very well after a few songs. Started using Acoustik Attak XLs, like the shape of them and they are easier for me to grip, not cheap though. Hard part for me is keeping everything from the shoulder down as relaxed as possible.
  3. Not a problem, my call was mid July, as I said I've also had two positive in person dealings with yourselves in the past. Just at that time as I'm sure many of us would appreaciate, a more welcoming tone and service would have been nice.
  4. It wasn't Mark I spoke to as I've always found him helpful, likely it was Marcus.
  5. Oh yeah I appreciate what you're saying, arguably if you're in a good moment or bad moment if you're running a business then it doesn't matter, your aim is to sell products to customers, the better the service is that they receive the more likely they are to come back, I've had two very positive experience with BD in the past in person, in this case I felt like whoever I spoke to didn't have the time or interest to speak to me, so I tried a new shop to me, BB.
  6. My last contact with BD was a phone call asking about lightweight 4ohm cab options they available, the response was "Everything we have is on the website" - not interested in helping me or any discussion. So I called Bass Bros, Will was very helpful so I visited in person and came away with a awesome cab and a new bass!
  7. Next on my list is to try a set of Platinum Newtone's. Ordered a set of the Diamond multiscale set for my Dingwall and was impressed with them.
  8. Not Herbie! Another of my personal Bass Greats gone, The Eve of War, Country Comforts, Jump into the Fire among others will be on my playlist today.

  10. The Nash relics are particularly poor from what I've seen, done with a belt sander I assume.
  11. GHS Pressurewound could be an option for the Jaguar? Best of both world option. Something different for the Wal, Dean Markley Blue Steel? Comes in a range of gauges too.
  12. I called their landline and he called back very soon after, regarding possible trade in items and suitable stock. First time I've used them and would happily use them again.
  13. Nice colour combo, no matter the other brands and types of bass I have I always come back to the P.
  14. The strings are great but fitting them to my newly acquired Dingwall (I did buy the multiscale set) was a challenge.. Bent bit of tin bridges I'm fine with, I really struggle with those that don't secure the ball end until the string has a fair bit of tension, couple that with the recessed tuners and large hands. Many expletives were said that I'm not proud of..
  15. Just got my first set of Newtone Strings, it says on the pack not to cut them until up to pitch, I've also watched the video on the website which does say to cut strings after bending them for slotted tuners. Being the clumsy ham fisted individual that I often am, how do my fellow basschatters install their Newtone Strings? As I don't want to mess it up. I've never had any issues installing any other sets of strings but you never know..
  16. Repetition and muscle memory, some songs I've not played for years I might be a bit rusty on, I might not remember everthing perfect but muscle memory definately helps. Developing your ear is also helpful, a band I only rehearse with once a month, often I have trouble remembering the key of a song but once a chord is played by the guitar or keys I'm in.
  17. Three, mainly for convenience: Big Rig is Tecamp Puma 900 and Barefaced Super Twin Leave at rehearsal space rig is TE Elf and Eden EX112 Lightweight not so loud rig is Warwick Gnome into newly acquired Schroeder PL12
  18. I understand thump to be the opposite of sustain, some people may look at thump as being the same as punch?
  19. We have 40 ish songs on the set list, including a few spares, spread over 3 hours with a short break between sets.
  20. I find playing in the studio harder as being a perfectionist (at least when it comes to music) I want to get it right first time and it tends to deteriorate when I don't, I would likely feel the same in your position as they have had you play on the track and have told you they are happy and then brought someone else in, taking into account the other issues within the band you have given, it doesn't sound like a good environment for you especially going forward. But that's only my opinion.
  21. Look forward to hearing how you get on with it, always fancied one just never taken the plunge.
  22. My Corvette Standard (2005 German) is thick front to back if that makes sense, not a problem for me but has put off others who've tried it out.

Anyone tried the Emma Electronic Discumbobulator? Watched a short video from Bass the World and I see you can order it from Thomann.
  24. Rockin All Over the World Riff Raff Kennett Playing Fields, Suffolk > Marquee SX Streamer Jazzman > EBS Reidmar 750 > 2x TC Electronic 2x10
  25. Added the Rodenberg LDP Deluxe to my board, we're gonna need a bigger board (boat).. Trying it in anger tonight at rehearsal.
