With Roto Tapes no less!
-
Same here, plus as an added bonus I could use the oversize headstock to keep other band mates in line!
-
I have a 4 string model and it is very playable, the Jazz pickup is a bit weak and the fretboard is "Engineered Rosewood" so it chipped after this clumsy farhkar tried to lean it up against something but, other than that no issues, Hardware all good, preamp seems fine.

In the end despite my resistance I will probably end up going with the HB PowerPlant ISO-10AC Pro. I use AI to help me break stuff down and wade through info but I do check that what it says is correct as much as possible. It suggested the following order for my intended pedals to be connected to the PSU: · Output 1 (9V/250mA): Keeley Bassist Compressor (50mA) · Output 2 (9V/250mA): MXR Smart Gate (15mA) · Output 3 (9V/250mA): JHS Haunting Mids (10mA) · Output 4 (9V/250mA): TC Nether Octaver (10mA) · Output 5 (9V/500mA): Fishman Platinum Pro EQ (200mA) · Output 6 (9V/500mA): TC Afterglow Chorus (>100mA) · Output 7 (18V/220mA): Rodenberg LDP Deluxe (100mA) · Output 8 (9V/450mA): TC Echobrain (>100mA) · Output 9 (9V/450mA): TC Skysurfer Mini (100mA) · Output 10 (9V/450mA): TC Crescendo (100mA) Does this sound right @prowla @jrixn1?

I'm not especially technical so I've never really understood or paid much attention to mA, V, wether it is 9 or 12V etc, though I'm always willing to learn! After all I managed to learn frequencies for EQ etc rather than blindly turning knobs 😅
-
Sorry I should have added more details, as far as I know everything can run on 9V, though my Fishman Platinum Pro EQ and Rodenberg LDP deluxe can also run on upto 18V though not sure of the advantages of doing that? Also apologies for my ignorance I wasn't aware I could daisy chain from a IEC PSU. I use a ISO-1AC Pro already. I would need power for 9 pedals total. Main reason for not wanting to order from Thomann I didn't want to order stuff I don't need.
-
I'm looking around for an IEC powered PSU that will take 8-10 pedals and mount under a PT Classic Jr. Ideally under £100. Trying to avoid HB/Thomann as I don't want to have to make up the order to £150 or pay £10 delivery. I've come across Palmer and Fender Engine Room but these are above my budget. Any help and suggestions, greatly appreciated!

I've always found flats easier to EQ on a P bass, put rounds on one and flats on the other so I always have the option. Options seem to be the way forward.
-
Not sure to be honest, I put it down to the Pyramids being pure nickel and the GHS being Stainless Steel. I couldn't get on with La Bella's at first, they sounded very scooped to me but tastes change and I learnt more about how to use EQ etc so they are now my flats of choice.
-
I used to use GHS but then moved to La Bella 760FM and 760M. I'd definately recommend them. Tried other brands, Pyramid were really smooth but not quite the right tone, others were too bright even after break in.

Bohemian Like You - Dandy Warhols - We play it slightly slower and it grooves a bit more, lots of potential for fills. Rebel Yell - Billy Idol - Really nice just to drive it along with drums, again might be the way we play it but it feels like it grooves more than the original. Sweet Child of Mine - GnR - Energy builds and builds until the end solo, which by then I'm really hitting hard. Jumpin Jack Flash - This is often our set opener again (anyone notice a theme here?) it grooves, once I'd realised Bill doesn't double the guitar riff and we have fun with it.

I emailed after 14+ working days and they confirmed that they will be posted next day, as it is a small operation like @Alba says probably depends on how many orders they have at any one time.
-
Apart from the compressor, its been great, nice that it has an adjustable HPF built in (labelled low cut) handy built in tuner and having the boost option is nice too. The EQ is very well laid out, took me a while to get the hang of the mid frequency sweep but I think that was mainly operator error. They do come up second hand (got mine from the bay) there is a slightly more stripped back version called the Stage. Didn't like the compressor purely because it was a single knob set up and I couldn't really see what it was doing.

Latest version of my board, the Rodenberg LDP Deluxe I was using developed a fault so I'm waiting on a replacement under warrenty, stumbled on a EBS Valve Drive secondhand the other day so that it is in its place for now.

The guy who stands at the back, plays the big guitar with two strings missing.
-
This to me sounds like a contradiction in terms unless I have missed something (i.e. these pedals sound great but sound terrible, muffled and weak). Perhaps try simplifying things as much as possible pick one Darkglass or MXR pedal that you have listed and focus on achieving a good sound with it (a sound that will work in a band mix ideally) as the only thing in your signal chain to your amp, then build your pedalboard around it.

The Short Scale Bass Appreciation Society!
Rodders replied to Baloney Balderdash's topic in Bass Guitars
You and me both Pat! I fancy one of these in black, I know when I bought one of the HB Shorty P basses to try they recommended a guitar gig bag but as you say a dedicated SS case would be much better and would probably be very popular. -
I bought one a few years ago, perfectly serviceable, apart from as @police squad says the dots were in the wrong place for fretless, so I put in lines on the edge of the board (or rather my Dad did).

50th Birthday party Saturday night at a local football club (though the club was still open to the public/members). Played there before and it is a nice venue, not the best for sound as it is low ceiling L shaped room with us positioned at the bottom corner right corner of the L. We played well considering only one rehearsal prior as members of the band had been on holiday. I was impressed with the sound of my Dingwall ABZ 4, only second time gigging it, we struggled with the sound overall as the 2nd guitarist has gained confidence but that means he is the loudest and overuses distortion. Despite lots of work on this at rehearsals nothing seems to improve so we are looking at improving overall monitoring as a solution. Bonus was I could watch the fight on the TV at the back wall from time to time!

Piezo bridge too? Nice!
-
I will have to see if I can find this, I've been learning Mo's tune "Man from the Everglades" with varing degrees of success, would love to see it.

I do my best, I can manage, truss rod adjustment, action and intonation, changing strings (most of the time) but most other more involved or finer tasks I struggle with, I have large hands with reduced function in one of them, plus having inherited low patience and a short fuse is not ideal. Take for example, fitting new strings to my Dingwall - with the bridge that doesn't hold the ball end until they're up to tension and recessed machine heads, this meant lots of frustration and swearing/sweating in the moment, with hindsight, gaffa tape over the bridge to hold the ball ends and a electric string winder may well have solved the issue, I'll know for next time..

I think one of the old Fender/Squier Bullet basses would fit the bill, I think they made Long scale versions with the Mustang pickups but could be 32".
