  1. Worst I've had was the lead guitarist of a band I was in (for less than a year) had been coercing the rhythm guitarist's youngest daughter into engaging in explicit activities with him. I, as I thought any other person would, found it morally unacceptable to continue with the band once I found out, much to the upset of the lead singer and drummer (father and son) who wanted it kept from me as they didn't want me to leave.. Last I heard, the lead guitarist is on bail pending investigation and surprisingly I know, they've not managed to gig since having gained and lost new members in very quick succesession..
  2. @SumOne had a good play around with the HX One last night through my headphone amp using my fretless, after the kind help of others on the forum helping me get my head around getting them to work together! The Chorus and Pitch Shift I enjoyed most, loads of different parameters you can mess with, right the way through to synths, the Wah's didn't work through the headphones, not sure why. Distortions and overdrives were great although I'm not a real aficianado when it comes to those but enjoyed the Valve ones the most. Compressors and EQ presets were really effective too. Hope that's not too rambly and jumbled for you. Next is to try it out in anger through a rig!
  3. Managed to get it to work with the cable I had, had great fun messing with the effects using my fretless! Thanks again all for your help
  4. Once I'm home from work I will report back, thanks all for your help!
  5. @sandy_r I feel really silly, I didn't even consider the blend control (having never needed to use it before or understood exactly what it did!), my poor brain!
  6. Very much appreciated @jrixn1 thank you
  7. Any suggestions on best place to buy a replacement? Designacable want £25 minimum, can't really justify that much.
  8. I've not got a multimeter unfortunately, I'll have to invest in a slightly higher quality one, I thought I'd buy a cheap one in case it doesn't work and ended up shooting myself in the foot anyway!
  9. Yes I did try all inputs and outputs of the HX just in case, I assumed both mono ends of the Y cable would go in the corresponding mono in and out of the HX? Quite possible I've missed something.
  10. This is the cable I bought, do you reckon its the wrong one? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/320517170202
  11. Hi all, I use a Palmer Pocket Amp for practice at home with headphones, I want to use my new HX One with it, the Palmer has a single socket stereo "FX Insert", I bought a stereo to mono Y splitter cable. Plugged it all in trying the different inputs on the top of the HX One just in case but no joy, I'm hoping its not just that you can't use the FX insert with headphones, which would be a real pain. Help!
  12. I'll do my best in remembering to report back to you @SumOne
  13. Christian Rock is ok though?
  14. Not had the courage to even take it out of the box yet, this really took my fancy after reviews and it seemed quite simple to use, plus 250 effects there must be some in there I can make use of/have fun with!
  15. When I was a teenager absolutely that was my dream. Now I've come to realise that I appreciate a level of structure and certainty that I don't think that I could cope without. Add to that, limited attention span, perfectionism and not really being that chilled a lot of the time, not to mention my own physical issues, it would never have worked out. So I'm as active within my local music scene as I can whilst being married and working full time, its the best I can do.
  16. I agree, I have a set of their silkless flats and really like the feel of them, I bought another set a few years later and they appeared to be rebadged Chromes..
  17. One thing I would add that I don't think has been mentioned yet, is perhaps look more closely at rhythm and how you can vary note length and add articulation to add interest to the bassline rather than adding more or different notes. This isn't necessarily appropriate for cover songs but I sometimes think a long the lines of, I'll only use 2 strings, stay in one area of the neck or create the feel of a walking bassline. It's sort of a challenge but can sometimes help with diffent ideas for fills or overall sound. May or may not work for you, just offering a different spin on it.
  18. To me, Mick Karn and Percy Jones have similar styles, both out of the ordinary whilst still very melodic, having tried to listen to Mick several times, I would always go back Percy.
  19. I'd happily give them a try too if they did. Shame.
  20. I have a 60's Creamery P bass pickup reversed, very pleased with it, also have a Herrick 51 P ready to go into a project still in bits. Its great to have so many UK pickup builders and choice available.
  21. Rickenbacker 4003 Epiphone Classic T Bird Epiphone EB-O 6 string fretless Ultimately I always come back to my 2011 US P with flats, so although I like the sound and looks of the others listed above, they wouldn't get used very often.. Already have a collection of 10+ that apart from the odd fretless all sit gathering dust.
  22. I practice maybe an hour or two per week, outside of weekly band rehearsal. I'm a perfectionist so I could always play better but I'm competent enough to hold a band together and help make it sound good when it matters. 6 hours a day everyday, I'm sure I could be technically brilliant etc but I would likely start hating the thing that brings the most happiness in my life..
  23. I have a Rock n Roller R2RT, I've been using it for a few years, very sturdy, handles a lot of weight for its size and folds down quite small. They gone up in price recently but as others have said buy cheap, buy twice, get what you pay for etc. https://rocknrollercarts.co.uk/products/rocknroller®-multi-cart®-r2rt-micro
  24. Percy Jones (Brand X, Brian Eno, Tunnels) John Giblin Jeroen Paul Thesseling Glen Hughes Geezer Jack Bruce John Entwistle Phil Lynott Colin Moulding (XTC) Herbie Flowers (how could I forget him?) Norman WR Gotten into John Pattitucci recently..
  25. I put a long scale set of these on a fretless P, its a cool sound, I was worried about the feel of them, if they were going to be too floppy, but work fine for me. Not gigged yet but I'll report back if I do!
