Haha! They work well for me, I found the heaviest gauge in the Dingwall set with the .100 E too floppy. So I worked my way up through 105, 108 to 110 and altered the rest to match as close as possible. For reference I was used to 109-49 and 110-52 La Bella flats before moving to the Dingwall.

An adjustable HPF made the biggest difference for me, still learning how to use EQ to best compensate for the room. Pick, fingers, roundwound, flatwound, hand position etc all change the tone for better or worse in different styles of music and band line ups.

Forgive my ignorance, does the strip at the bottom numbered 1-8, mean that you don't have to turn each pedal on and off individually and they are each assigned to one of the numbers?
-
I went for 110, 82, 63, 47, for an ABZ 4, aiming for circa 50-51 lbs tension on each string.
-
I put the medium set (120-50) on a P bass over the weekend, its amazing how much of a difference the balanced tension makes. I ordered a custom balanced tension set for my Dingwall from Newtone after using another tension calculator online, enjoying those too.

That looks awesome! I'd never remember what each of them do!
-
I'd be interested to try these in Medium gauge (and see how much they end up costing), as I have been tempted by the EB "Group" Flats for a while..

I agree, I was hoping for 36" plus.

Sweet Home Alabama, first song I gigged was Wishing Well by Free.

I met Nick 3 times, twice at NEC Music Live and once he came and spent 3 hours teaching me and was kind enough to let me try out his well loved Vigier, he was the first person I met who had synesthesia, he could tell what notes were by a colour he associated with them, from then on he was always happy to give advice and for me to ask questions. Such a sad loss to the bass community. RIP Nick.

Got a few TC pedals for use on Fretless from my wife (Afterglow Chorus, Nether Octaver, Skysurfer Mini Reverb), ordered myself for Christmas a Crescendo Auto Swell and Bucket Brigade Delay to go with it. Then I had to get a PSU to power it all plus my existing pedals, managed to pick up a Truetone CS12 second hand, so just got to put it all together now..

I set the HPF (labeled Low Cut) on my Fishman Preamp to between 60-80Hz, 1st harmonic frequency of a Low D or E, I tried setting it lower around 30-40 but still found it a bit muddy. I boost the bass knob on the EQ if the Sound Engineer reckons it needs it. I use my Dingwall ABZ 4 through a Warwick Gnome & Schroder 12PL majority of the time, picked up a Sine Effect C24 secondhand but I've yet to experiment with it much, I use it on a smaller setup that lives at a rehearsal room.

My First Project... Diary of sorts - FINISHED W/PICS!
Rodders replied to Ander87's topic in Build Diaries
The brand/stamp logo looks awesome! As does the bass as a whole. Would you mind sharing the etsy seller you bought from? -
Fishman Platinum Pro EQ, I mainly bought it for the adjustable HPF mainly but it does much more than that, I was very impressed (leaving aside the single knob compressor) the EQ section is very easy to use, the tuner and boost are very handy, I will be making use of the built in effects loop this year too.

Barefaced Super Twin 2x12 (18Kg with tilt back wheels) always worked for me playing Classic/Heavy Rock in pubs and clubs, they also do a tweeter version now too if needed. Now I have a 1x12 4ohm Schroeder playing stuff that is not so heavy, the Super Twin doesn't get much action but I will always hang on to it.

I've gone from 2mm Gator Grip, down to .88mm Tortex Triangle, might be something to do with playing rounds a lot more now than heavy flats which I was using.

Just a quick update to this, I went with a custom gauge set from Newtone (108,88,68,48) Diamond, NPS, Hex Core. Very pleased with them. Cheers @MichaelDean for the recommendation, I didn't have to measure, just put the make model and scale lengths in when ordering.

Love the colour!

10.5" or 26.67cm hand span when at full stretch, from tip of little finger to thumb. Wedding ring was custom made, never had an issue with a bass being too big, but picking up pennies off the floor and fine stuff like soldering is a no.

Rickenbacker 4003S (not fussed on colour) Spector Euro 4 (again not fussed on colour) Dingwall Combustion 4 - natural ideally. Whether I will manage to purchase any of the above next year is another matter but these are what I would like currently.

I use a headphone amp, has EQ, aux in for my phone, DI out if needed and a few other bits that I don't use. I'd love to have an amp set up but being mid terrace and the wife always wanting stuff "tidy" its the best option for me.

I have a Dingwall ABZ 4 and as @BigRedX says I took to it in 5 minutes, I find the frets fall under my hand better and obviously the optimum tension for each string and the clarity it gives is great, I still use my other basses but I find this really comfy with the thinner frets too.

Four 51 P pickups in total or are they custom designed?

Very nice.
