1. Bought an MXR Blowtorch of Badgerific.... Very easy guy to deal with... Everything went as planned, cheers mate... That's a big thumbs up...
2. Yeah Pino's the man!.... Some great lines on that Newman album 'We take mystery to bed' is one of my favourites... What he did on Joan Armatrading's album 'the shouting stage' also pricked my ears up....
3.
3PDT footswitches are around £4 from ebay, for all other parts there's farnell online, bobsbitbox on ebay or maplins if you're near one to save postage. If you wanted to add a blender, there was a circuit posted by Al Healey not so long ago IIRC.. Al?
Thanks for that mate..... was a bit tempted to have a go.... but I've decided to go the easy route & pay Umph to make one for me
4.
This guy does them for about £30, but you'd have to ask if he can fit a single bypass loop in his smallest enclosure - by default he sticks them in larger ones.
Fair play.... works out about £34 with postage... maybe that is still a bit cheaper than getting one from the states... loopmaster.com does that lil' beaut in the pic for $45... (is that £29 + shipping?.... or do they round it up to £45 as stuff seems to be from the states these days) ...Just checked it out they want $35 for shipping!!!....................................................................... Fook that!
are you any good with a soldering iron? the parts would cost around £10 - £15 and there's nothing to em, as you say. With a little bit more cash (around £2), you could add a blender........
I'm about as good with a soldering iron as a monkey is with a machine gun... bit 'hit or miss!'... or is it, 'point & spray!?' nice idea though, where would I get the case from? (....& the other bits too!) Thanks for the suggestions so far......
5. After determining that I do in fact want something that means I can A - bypass my FX completely when I'm not using them (most of the time!) & B - Only hit one switch to bring in multiple FX combinations... Some investigation on BC & just missing a 2nd hand one for £17 later... I seem to have wasted a chunk of my life googling for these devices & coming up with what appears to be over priced little boxes that predominantly are made in the U S of A.... Please could someone tell me if I could purchase something like this: nice & small & neat preferably ...with a pretty blue light ....mmmm cute! in the UK for around £20? ...or am I being a bit nieve here? .....after all, there's not much to 'em....is there?
6. I can understand why people would consider Wooten the better 'technician'.... & that youtube vid shows Flea to be a bit of a 'one trick pony' ....but pretty much all the basslines on 'Blood, sugar, sex, magic' are right up there, in my humble opinion.. Personally (& lets face it, this kinda stuff is always very subjective) I like aspects of both of their playing & I also think both are capable of boring w@nk that leaves me cold.... They've both contributed greatly to the bass playing world... I guess if it were a competition (which of cause it isn't!) the scales would tip a little in the favour of Flea for me, for his energy & soul... (but not for his endless machine gun slap.... ) Claypool is a great 'character' player too.... unique Meshell Ndegeocello & Pino Palladino are definitely two of my favourite bass players of all time! .....
7. Just sold a G&L L2500 tribute to TheDaivisch.... Thoroughly decent chap to deal with... lots of PM's & a few phone calls later, he sends me a case to send the bass back to him in, via DHL.... which he set up & paid for... To avoid the rediculous PayPal charges, he arranged a bank transfer & was thoughtful enough to send me a screen cap of the transaction, as he would recieve the bass before the money would clear in my account..... It all went well. Eveybody happy!
8. After hearing Percy Jones playing in Brand X when I was younger, I tried to fake his fast flurries of notes by using 3 fingers ... (usually in the order of - ring, middle, index) ...over time, I've kinda got more accurate with it & it's become incorporated into my 'style' ...like these things do... trying to copy things you've heard that tickle your bass bone, so to speak....perhaps falling a bit short of the mark!.... but what you end up with is your unique 'style' Percy Jones has since made a video, with detailed information on how he does what he does ....with his three fingers! you can see him talking about his right hand technique HERE (Check out from about 7.12) Still a great bass player, in my view (although not exactly 'Mr Personality' on this video!)
9.
Lovely. I wouldn't have thought something so hatstand would sound that lush.
+1
10. a great cab indeed... I own 2 of them
11. Yep... reckon you right.... Sandberg Plasma it is....
12. I have a John Paul Jones pick!... Given to me by his granddaughter, who is one of my students....
13. Just saw the last Later with Dizzee Rascal... nice to hear him with a 'proper' band rather than just a' bloke putting records on'.... What was that perspex bass with the blue lights, anyone know?
14. Yeah, Jam Guitars is pretty local for me... Was very impressed with the Basic 4 & the California PM5 they have in there... BTW, they've only got 4 Sandbergs in stock to try there at the moment: Basic 4, California PM5, California PM 4 & California JM 4... but can order in on request. Have ordered a Basic 5 to my own specific tastes from them (maple board/greenburst) which they are prepared to do without me committing to buying.... which I'm impressed with. Will be delivered there early November.... Don't think they are open on Sundays.... but you could check by emailing them (Pete & Nick) at: [email protected]
15. I'm curious about these, might be what I'm after Where are you based? ...... is that £75 shipped?
16. You can get 'em from Jam Guitars in Bristol JAM GUITARS
17. 'Alright my luvver' nother Brizzlite 'ere! Welcome aboard... some familiar names mentioned in this thread already... regards to Matt V from Dave S when you see him next!..... I'm up for a meet on the Gloucester road sometime.... Churs then
18. a still available bumperoo
19. Well, it seems everywhere you turn around here, there's Sandbergs coming out of the woodwork!...... I'm assuming yours has a rosewood board?.... my lust for German 'blondes' & the need for a 5, just about keeps me from selling my children into slavery!...... Bassbunny's keeps looking at me seductively though..... So yours is the blueburst version of this: Sandberg JM ?
20. Looks like I'm a bumpin'
21. Cool... I've always liked his playing.... Some great lines with 'Dali's Car' too
22.
Nice bit of rosewood on this one as I recall. They'd make a nice matching pair. I compared this KT5 with a basic 4 banger - the second pickup did bring in a lot more tonal options without causing me all the confusion that my old G&L L2.5K did.
yep!.... if I was a wealthy man........ I really don't think I need more than 2 fives...my trusty Ray & a sandberg.....my G&L's almost sold.... .......or do I?! :brow:
23. hmmm.... at that price it's worth the drive up north to collect!..... if it was with a maple board, I wouldn't hesitate.... I'm having a basic 5 made with a maple board in greenburst (...ready early Nov) through Jam Guitars... but it's costing me a lot more... & one less pickup!.... hmmmm....
24. Ahh!.... here it is.... very nice too!.... Sandberg Basic Ken Taylor
