1. I used to use one in the 80's.... nice bass, although a little light in the bottom end.. used to have the bass boost up full on it to compensate. given it to my daughter, so it's still in the family!
2.
just checked his myspace, does this guy only have one pedal on offer? http://www.myspace.com/sixtieseffects
Yep...... just the one at the moment
3.
well any joy with the pedal dude?
hmmmm.... Starting to wonder if this was a good idea... he said it would probably be ready to put in the post last Saturday...... over a week later & still no pedal! my attempts to message him over the last few days have been 'unread' At this stage I don't think that he's ripped me off... but maybe he's had hold ups or buggered off for Xmas or Xmas post is slow.... ? Whatever the reason, I would have expected to have been kept informed....
4. I have been using the 1001RB for live work recently.... Seems very reliable, plenty of power.. cuts through the mix with a solid warm tone... Thought I'd miss a valve preamp but I don't!
5. Personally I think the Bristol Reverb is sh*te these days.... especially for bass, hardly anything in there... you might find Jam Guitars in Clifton interesting (Sandberg, Warwick, boutique pedals) & Absolute guitars in Backwell (Fender, Shecter, Spector) Treblerock also in Clifton (the village part) has a few 2nd hand bits of interest (a beautiful old Stingray there awhile back, dunno if it's still there) Rickaxxe in Broadmead has the same stock that was there 10 years ago!... probably! The basement in Mickleboroughs, Stokes Croft has cheap & cheerful ..but if Ian is working there, you'll get a great chat.. (a very learned fellow!) I've heard it's quite hard to get Steve at Electric Ladyland to actually sell you anything!....
6. Well.... I must admit the guy is great with communication... here's the reply I got when asking for clarification about the 'trial period'.... "It is a month that you have to decide. I just wrote two weeks as an example. Perhaps I will revise that at some point. You're pedal is nearly done hopefully I can post it out for you saturday morning." wes So looking forward to giving it a go.... whatever size it is!.. I was about to get a Colorsound bass fuzz (that's the kinda sound I'm after) when I saw the Sixties Effects fuzz on Ebay.. that led me to his Myspace ... If you have read the link I posted at the front end of this, you will see that he offers Germanium or Silicon transistors & also guitar or bass friendly versions of the pedal.... He advised the Germanium if I want the Colorsound vibe...
7. ...hmmmm... the 'Euro month' 2 weeks is a little confusing! I'll message him about it.... don't wanna get caught with my trousers down & a home grown carrot in my hand!?! ...or stuck with a pedal I don't want coz it took me 3 weeks to decide if I liked it...
8.
Next they'll be telling us we're not allowed to use our home-grown crooked carrots for anal pleasure.
9.
Just because something is labelled as using germanium transistors will not make it sound good, the germanium transistors need to be from a good batch. You can buy an original arbiter fuzz face from the 60s for megabucks and it could still sound crap. The moral of the story try befor you buy with anything to do with vintage sounds. It wont always give you what you are expecting.
... yeah sure..... but if I don't like it, I can send it back & get a refund..... seems a good deal to me "All sixties effects come with a 5 year guarantee, if you get any problems (which you shouldn't) just send it back for a free fix up. You also have a month to decide whether you like it or not, If after two weeks you decide it isn't what you were looking for send it back for a full refund, no questions asked."
10.
Where exactly do you live? I need to steal a case for this
Wow!.... what kind of beast is that?.....
11. I use the EBS Octabass, I think it's the modern one.. (with the three way switch Lo, Mid, Hi settings....) excellent pedal! really delivers.... & stays stable even on lower notes....
12. Years ago I had an Electro Harmonix Dr Q.... & loved it... These days I use the Dod FX25B, cheap & cheerful.. & with a bit of boost to get the volume & bottom end back, I'm happy with it....
13. Somehow or other, I stumbled across this guy - Westley William Holdsworth on the net (ebay... I think) With his little company 'Sixties Effects' "Sixties Effects is a small independent company producing effects pedals using technology and parts from both the past and the future. .." Anyway... I've virtual chatted to him about my need for a colorsound type fuzz & I'm quite impressed with the cut of his jib (!) He's offering a 5 year warranty on his 'Infinite Fuzz' & a month trial, returnable if you don't like... no questions asked!.. Here's the details... Infinite Fuzz For £60, I've ordered the Germanium bass version of his box, which should be arriving soon.... Might as well give it a go... nothing to lose... Anyone heard of these?... tried one?... bought?... Know the guy? Seems worth a shot.......
14.
Superb bassline and good transcription. Thanks for the link! Peace Beyond Passion is still my favourite Me'Shell album though...
......me too!
15. thanks..... too small for me though... good luck with the sale!
16. Recently bought a Basic 5..... & I'm well happy with it. very well made bass & a warm articulate tone
17. Sold Grahame a MXR Blowtorch.... Very easy guy to deal with, great communication... paypal-ed the money to me instantly Highly recommended for future transactions... Cheers...
18.
They are the best small cab out there. This is due to the dept of these cabs. they provide great low end. Definately the best 112 out there and two of them will give you more then enough volume for most club gigs.
+1 I'm putting a Gallien Krueger 1001RB through 2 GS112's at the moment... Was a bit worried prior to getting the GK head, if the cabs could take it... so I emailed Aguilar, this is their reply... (found it!) "You would be fine with either GK head. Two GS 112's would handle 600 watts RMS and can typically handle spikes that are double that amount. The 700W model is mostly to give you extra headroom so if you use common sense about the amount of power that you need, you should be fine with this head and your two GS 112's." I'm loving them, I like the slight mid scoop & they have a warm 'darkness' about them that I couldn't find in other small cabs I tried.... Prefered them mucho to the Bergantino AE112's I had before
19. I know what is is ... but dunno about tabbing it & getting it uploaded gotta big work load on this week.... I'll see if I can find the time to do it........ (if someone else doesn't sort if soon...) Great groove!.... Meshell da man!
20.
If it doesnt go im VERY interested. Would you consider PX for a EH bass blogger
money received & posted it today.... sorry mate, might have been interested in investigating the blogger though....
