1. As said above in the 80's Tokai made good basses & guitars, I wish I'd bought a couple of them back then .
2. An amazing bass & an amazing wife, that is a nice looking Jazz bass .
3. I've had an on & off love affair with the Precision bass & it's clones since I started playing bass back in 1987. My Wife bought me a 1989 MIK Squier Precision "twice" which I still have, though now resides in it's guitar case. Then this January I bought a new & my first American made Fender Precision bass, and I wish I'd bought one years ago this bass just feels and sounds right to me. Even put a set of flatwounds on it my first set in 27 years.
4. Same as gsgbass a 2014 American Standard Precision in Olympic white & tort.
5. My 2014 American Standard which I got in January, only upgrades are a set of Fender straplocks & Fender flatwound bass strings.
6. Just stumbled onto this thread & it's my old setup back in 1989/90. I swapped a 2x15 cab for the Vox and still had the sound city heavy thing that it was. I was using my 1964 Hofner violin bass & wanted a McCartney look, when the sound city broke I gave I away and used an H/H valve sound head. I gave the Vox cab to a friend after storing it my Dads place for a few years, nice to see one again will see if I have a pic of mine somewhere.
7. Looking forward to see pics of it .
8. I'm really getting into the whole Precision bass "thing" since I got my bass in January (see avatar). Your right the necks on the new US basses are a joy to hold & play, the only upgrade has bee a set of Fender straplocks .
9. The headstock to me is like a modern version of the old Tele style precision, can't tell from the photo's but is the body the same thickness as a P bass? I like it though .
10. That's nice the necks on the American Standards & Specials are really nice.
11. Mind blowingly beautiful there is nothing else, that you could do to make it look any better .
12. I am determined now to be GAS free I spent the best part of last year thinking about it going over all the basses I'd owned, over the past 27 years and the money I'd spent & wasted on some of them & the money I lost when I sold them on . I had spent so much time saving for basses & amps (which you can do for any hobby/interest). Always said that when I reached 50 I would quit buying basses & amps, anyhow 2 years earlier than planned I have managed to do just that . So I read a lot of reviews on basses and amps that I liked the look of, and one of my main criteria was that it was it had to be well made & the weight of the bass & amp had to be manageable (no more Peavey TNT 160's ).For me the new American Fender Precision with the Custom Shop pickups & the improvements, made on the neck and the weight and feel of the bass won me over. All I have added is a set of straplocks & for the first time ever flatwound strings, so that takes care of my bass needs & string changes won't be for a good few years. And amp wise I liked the look and weight again of the Fender Rumble 200 combo. So now I can save my money for other things & sit back and enjoy what I own instead of looking and thinking "What if or I need that".
13. Thank you for all the advice gentlemen yesterday,I got a set of Fender 9050L flatwound strings & changed them one by one. The neck is fine and after using roundwound strings for the past 27 years, it does feel a bit strange but sounds good through my Fender Rumble 200 .
14. It would be great just to spend a weekend going through every case, & trying them out .
15. The Olympic white/maple neck has become my favorite colour combination now .
16. WOW that is a beautiful bass you have there.
17. Fender has done well with these V3 Rumble series.
18. Bass & Amp together
19.
I bought one the same a few months back, and can't fault it. In fact, I've never played a bad US Standard Fender. Something about a white P and tort. Always wanted one myself, and it doesn't disappoint. Quite tempted by the 1 bass thing - did it for a white until the GAS crept back in.....if your going to mono-bass, I think the P is maybe the one to do it. Or the Jazz. Or the.......
I have been lucky to own various brands including Rickenbacker & Musicman and a host of others. And as my other 2 basses have been put away I can concentrate on the Precision. I really want to go down the one bass only route, 1 bass & 1 amp job done. Plus I'm tired of saving up for basses & being gutted if they have gone before I had chance to get it.
