1. and bin the NEO idea as well
2. Apart from looking totally stupid, it would sounds pants, IMV...unless you put a lot of money in a very good bass monitor...and QSC isn't it, IMO...by any stretch. That coming from someone who uses KW12's for P.A.... it is ok but you have to use the subs... and those things weigh a lot..and that is a £1500 plus rig...if you get the cheap composite cabs... Let the singer carry it... ...
3. A decent 410 shouldn't be boomy, IME... but an amp with a semi paramtric EQ stage is good for notching problematic rooms...
4. Carldro and HH are a given but add to that PV and it is no excuse that they are bombproof, IMO.... they still sound sh*te.. Worse experience in recent times was a GK RB combo.... followed by plugging my cabs into an Ashdown MAG thing...and getting nothing usable...at all.
5. Its too long without a very good reason..... the least the seller can do is keep you in the picture if he can't perform his end of the deal but the reason has to be good and very plausible..IMO
6. Not so sure it is bad manners...but it is pretty basic that they don't or can't adhere to the whole deal of working in bands or whatever else the have to communicate on. I just think that some people don't have a clue what is involved running bands..so sure, put it all in the band spreadsheet and make it a 'chargeable'... see how that goes...
7. A T-Bird is a punky bass, AFAIAC...that is its only gig
8. now I wouldn't have anyone in the band who couldn't bring along their own take....and make a good fist of it working.
9. 2x112 or 2x210 depending on the gig. Far prefer the 2x210's but the 2x112's are a nice carry with a decent stage footprint.
10. Sims.... will scan your old one. Not cheap tat, but you get what you pay for...
11. Use them the same way as they are using you. Book other gigs and the first one is the diary is the band you'll do. I would expect to be the number one unit though... so whilst you can be pro about the way to spread around the gigs... the band that gets the most loyalty is the best band, however you measure that... If the gtr thinks the unit is substandard or whatever, then get rid of him.. or leave if you find your self on the outside. I don't think so much of regular band members who gets gigs for their other bands and not chipping in in your band. I can understand if they are too busy to do it at all, but not otherwise.... You may well find the guy getting all the gigs...wants to pay himself for that... and then you have a whole new can of worms..
12.
Evening all, With the current TC Electronic BH250 recall going on, it would seem I'm amp-less. Going through the band's PA isn't really a problem and I'm sure a DI shouldn't be THAT expensive. The thing is, I prefer having a head on top of my cab and being slightly more in control. So, as Karlfer suggested, could anyone help out by lending me a head until my BH250 comes back please? James
Hey James If you are over my way..I have a SWR SM400 you could use...
13. Not for me...if only from an aesthetic POV...
14.
If I ever played on a stage and venue large enough to need one then I can't think of anything I'd rather have than an Ampeg 8x10. Meanwhile, back in the real world. . . Aguilar 12's do it for me. A pair of DB's with a Matching DB750 head or, for an amazing sounding lightweight solution the SL's with a Tone Hammer 500.
I'd go with this, Barrie, only I'd swap the Ampeg 810 for a DB810.... Was also rather partial to the Mesa 1516, but I think the DB series does it. DB750 plus 2xDB210 is tops...and the only thing I would want above it is a DB610..WHICH THEY STILL DON'T MAKE so that might put an NV610 in there.
15. I don't ask but I expect them to know the notes they can hit and get them when they go for it. It helps if they are a writer so can comp on gtr and keys so we can have a musical 'conversation'. If they are just starting, go learn on another gig...
16. DB750....best I've used.
17. I stopped playing for 18 months or so... and it was just what I needed. I was rejunvenated and came back much stronger after I got my playing back together which took a while. Everything is so much better now... so don't be scared of a break but you have to recover some ground but I have the energy and drive to do that now. The only downside was that I gave up so many gigs and you can't get them back easily.............
18. There are a small op... and long may that continue...plus they have to make basses as well. Great shop...all the best.
19. If you can't get gigs, then you may have to look at avenues like this... If you can, you wont.... Instead of getting upset about a venture like this, make sure your band is worth paying...

You'll find them cheap...and they will do a job if they haven't had too tough a life. People throw them away as they are too heavy. Their heyday was pre-90's...
21.
I am very critical of my own playing so if I dont fret perfectly I might class that as a mistake.
agree..this pisses me right off and would be classed as a bad night...and yes, this is a mistake in my book.
22. Can't recall the last time...maybe 20 years ago.
23. Nope... nothing I want or need. I dare say I could blow a couple of thou if it was burning a hole in my pocket, but until I see something I really want, I'm GAS free.. I would probably have to sell something to make room as using the thing would be the issue
24. I guess people think a bunch of pretty boys can't be worked hard. I don't believe they are the hardest working but then I don't care either...
