1. I'm offering my Ampeg BA115 100w combo for sale. Specs are here http://www.gear4music.com/Guitar-and-Bass/...s-Combo-Amp/9H5 It's less than a year old and only left the house once for a gig in a medium sized venue where it more than held it's own. I'm selling as I've found a smaller head to go with my cab and this was being used for gigs where I didn't wish to lug my full main rig. As a result it's only been played through on a small handful of occasions. I also had a custom cover made for it to protect it so it should last somebody a long time - the cover was about £40 and worth the investment. I've seen a couple of online stores have now dipped below the £250 mark so for that reason I'm going to offer mine at £190. The second hand ones I've seen on EBay are still going at £200+ and that's without the cover. Not much in the way of pics right now but the one attached shows the cover in the background too (although you have to ignore my double bass which isn't included in case anyone wonders!). I think it sounds great for a 100w combo. Solid state but they have done well getting that Ampeg tone on a budget. Light and fairly portable with a tone that cuts through in rehearsals and small to medium sized gigs (any bigger and face it you'd put the amp through the PA anyway!) I am reluctant to post stuff as I have always favoured dealing face to face with people & I've also had a bad experience with a courier. I'm in West Berkshire but would be willing to drive within an hour for the right offer or you can check it out here. I'm not looking for trades as I have all the gear I need and this is going to part fund a trip abroad after a fairly vile 2009. Thanks for looking. Any questions relating to a sale please PM me.
2. I have a Line 6 Bass Floor Pod which is highly compact and has some great settings as well as a bunch I don't use. I've used individual pedals in the past which is certainly a sure fire way to target the tones you are aiming for. However I found the Multi FX unit much more portable which is a strong factor for why I choose them. I tend to find I try and get by with getting just the best tone I can from the bass to the amp & not using effects. It changes all the time.
3. This is fascinating stuff. I've over 800+ Positive Feedback on EBay but mainly as a buyer. I reckon I have only sold about 50 items (all music related) and never had any spam. I've sold stuff on forums and with the exception of Basschat always had spam. It's worth knowing this as I plan to have a gear clearout to fund a holiday in a few months. Scary stuff!
4. I'm there too at the moment but something always comes along. I'd rather it was later rather than sooner to be honest so I can properly enjoy what I have
5. Not as such but I'd be happy to drive closer to you if this is any help. I can drive up the A34 past Oxford taking me up towards the midlands. PM me if it is.
6. I assume mrcrow is still enjoying it!?!

8. I hate people mucking about with classic P-basses but it's your bass and for me your saving grace is that you intend to keep it. If this is genuinely the case then you should do whatever you want to maximise your enjoyment of it.

10. I also think ending a bid on Xmas Eve when it requires postage isn't the best. It looks ok but I can well believe waynepunkdude's experience here.
11.
Ending on christmas day? Not sure the seller thought that one through, not sure too many people will be watching ebay then!!
I'm inclined to agree but a lot of people use programmes like Bidnapper so it may just mean he has to wait a day or so for payment.
12. Always good to hear. They sent me a James Burton tele a few years ago that got damaged by the courier. Not their fault but it did taint my view of them. They spent weeks trying to re-order it before I just gave up.
13. I thought it was 2005 but 2006 must be right. I think these will be very collectable in a few years & regarded as classics. I could be wrong but I reckon the early ones will go for good money in a few years. I too find the CIJ serial numbers confusing & there is very little up to date info. I too have the red one & love the matching headstock.
14. Hi davetcollection - it's amazing how similar these 70s Jap basses look. I have an Antoria that to an untrained eye would look almost identical.
15. Steve Salas Colorcode. Dan Reed Network. The Electric Boys. Plenty of bands fell by the wayside.
16. I think the MIJ and MIJ Silver series along with the current crop are really good. There was a quality dip for a while but they are certainly back on form. I own a 51 P-bass and the quality is superb - I don't think there are many Squiers that would match mine but I guess it all comes down to taste. Personally I don't care what is on the headstock, be it Fender or Squier or something else. What matters is how an instrument feels when you play it.
17. Personally I'm with Golchen here. I've played a couple of headless basses that belonged to different Basschatters & they were set up great & played perfectly well. I don't think it's an issue other than personal taste
18.
You don't see too many of those around! The description is a bit hopeless, mind...
Looks good but +1. Good description of Geddy Lee mind. Shame it's not really massively relevant.
19. Congrats thepurpleblob - those horror stories of older bands sound all too familiar!
20.
But on the subject of BGM, the new issue (Zender on the cover) is already in Smiths, and yet again my subscription copy hasn't arrived.
Is another one out already? I can't keep up!
21. Without seeing it I'd be a little bit concerned that the bridge needs resetting. The knob is a quick fix and easy to pick up but make sure you are 100% happy the work will be both economic & actually fix it. I would say around £200 depending on condition so agree with Musky's estimate.
22. I'd also opt for a Squier Bronco. At that age they grow up fast and a half size would quickly become redundant
23. I'd love one personally. I'd rather not have the active modification but as I've already bought one 1978 P-bass this month I guess this won't be the one These used to be much more common a few years ago & I'm taking about the CIJ reissues. I guess the people that bought them then are holding onto them
24. Welcome Alan. Word of warning, most people who come here wind up with more kit instead of getting rid of stuff! Still, it's a great place to be & you are not the only one who has come back to playing. More fun next time around!
