1. I do like the Ampeg stuff personally. On the off chance you'd be interested I have a BA115 for sale that is pretty much immaculate. No worries if it's bigger than you need but I thought I'd mention it. Within your budget but no worries if you have other stuff lined up
2. We tried the google calendar and having a Google group for discussions. The group worked better than the calendar but it was a good idea in theory. You have to set a rule to say it's individuals responsible to update or it is a bit pointless. Some members were certainly better than others with it
3. Welcome to Basschat. I'm also an owner of a 135 Bassman head and a Jaguar bass. So I have to admire your taste!
4. I agree - varying that figure more or less according to how quickly you'd want it to sell. Looks good

Hi

Welcome. Gotta love those 50s RI P-basses
6. I remember seeing yellow Fenders and wondering why they weren't more readily available. I like the look
7. Just got back from Stoke Newington where I did what was my first gig since I had chemo last month. Awesome fun and it's great to be back in the saddle again.
8. The Tokai stuff is basically what Fender Japan is anyway. Really great stuff.
9. I thought about this a lot when I was ill last year. My wife would have the say but my original P-bass would go to my old school friend and I'd divide them up amongst certain players who I believe wouldn't sell on.
Has anyone actually been buried with their bass?
A friend of mine had a mate who died in a road accident back in the 90s. I gave him my old Vox bass that was buried with the coffin in North Watford Cemetary back in the mid-late 90s. The guy was a player so I thought it was a fitting tribute. Never got a penny for it though and I didn't know the guy. I would have thought my friend would have bought us a pint at least - that Vox must've been worth something
10. I own a 1978 bass and that's absolute top dollar price for a musuem piece that's 100% all original. It looks ok but I think it's over priced. There are a few fairly large scuffs, non original case etc. I'd like to see pics inside, a bit more of it's history (I know he's had it 15yrs) etc. Mine came with the original receipt, paperwork, original strings etc and I paid less than that - only last month.
11. I agree with the general viewpoint here, keep it similar. And good luck too
12. I was always ripped off by venues in my 20s but these days it hasn't happened for a few years now. I'm no buisnessman but this one doesn't sit right with me & I think there is some good advice on written agreements here.
13. I've no first hand experience with the 100w model but I've tried the 200R which was great fun & I own the BA115 combo. For what it's worth I think Ampeg's entry level stuff is perfectly fine. Obviously the B100R has the retro stylings & if I were starting from scratch it'd be a serious contender
14. Welcome to Basschat Frank
15.
Unfortunately, the 'recession' forced the prices of musical gear way up. Last year Fender had two price increases. Blame the economy, not the store.
I agree. At least they are trying to knock the prices down for good customers with the discount offered

Hello

Getting into the 4003 myself, welcome to Basschat
17. I can only echo what has already been said. A very sad incident & my thoughts are naturally with friends & family
18. Yep, genuine
19. I would assume I don't vary lines but thinking about it, I guess I do. I practice lines a lot away from rehearsal playing along with recordings which helps.
20. Yes they do & you are looking at around £300 for a very pro refinish
21. A great trio & er, plus one on the sofa
22. There is no answer that fits all. It depends on if they are friends too (or maybe just some of them). I've had some messy band splits but a few yearrs down the line none of it really matters. I'm friends with most of my ex-band mates now. The phone call idea is ok but remember band member 1 may phone 3 and 4 whilst you are still on the phone to 2. You could email everyone together and then phone, that way you don't play favourites. You also need to decide if you are honouring any outstanding gigs etc. Good luck with whatever you decide
23. It's what puts me off Jazz basses. I used to get pain in my forearm from long term use of my old 75RI Jazz. I love the tone and look of Jazz basses but prefer a chunkier neck. I had wondered if the 60s RI had a thicker neck.
24. So it's Stoke Newington this weekend 24 Jan 2010, 19:00 07:00 PM - The Birdcage - Stoke Newington Be good to see any Basschatters there in what will be a very stripped down show
25. I like his belt. Genuinely
