1.
Oh good heavens fabulous Glad the epic journey was worth it. One like that, but 35" with 5 strings and in Candy Apple Red please
You should do it!
2. I decided to get Rich to go a little nuts on the paint/polishing again - so it's currently having a little holiday where she'll come back relaxed, cleaned and looking fantastic. Which I should add I visited her the other night.... Oh my sweet baby jesus - the purple is looking amazing. He also went back and made the neck even better (which I didn't think possible!) - I can't even think of a description! But it's lovely. So smooth and lush. She'll be coming back with a new hipshot xtender and some nice new aurora black strings (possibly purple depending if I stick em on my lakland!) I have a ticket for moffat so will be with me (unless I get stuck offshore...) - so anyone who wants to see the Purple Beastie up close is welcome to give her a shotty.
3. Jesus man! Know i put porn in the title but you gotta keep it PG! But that is hot.
4.
Get photos up as soon as you receive this! Sounds fantastic Just to make you feel even better about the TK-421-x I've just sold a Rat Tail on to our guitarist, having picked one up from Joe's a couple of weeks ago so I could compare with the COG and my old Turbo Rat. The COG destroys the Fuzzrocious! Bizarrely the Rat Tail was my least favourite of the three...Don't know if it's the tin-can LM308 but quite an excessive top-end roll off, and I found the clipping on the highs to be a bit brittle and fizzy? Just couldn't get that "Clank" out of it on the low-gain settings, which is what I love about the original and the COG. The clean LPF/blend on the COG is just ingenious, makes it SO versatile! I'm very intrigued about the HPF on yours
For sure man! The HPF is to give a little nasal sound if possible. Aiming for an animato type sound. Tom's description - "it will kill people and destroy your enemies".
5. Since there seems to be more and more of the excellent COG units appearing on basschat - thought it would be a cool idea to have them all in one place where we can drool/dream/discuss all things COG. Here is my LS-2 on steroids. Swaps between A then B or A + B, with level controls for both sections, phase switches on both and amazing Solid Snake etching I've also got a new unit on the way, which was the brain child of my brain and imagination going wild, and Tom assisting heavily! It's the GREY FUZZ?! (no affiliation towards the stache!), but not so much of a nod but a full blown point at Grey Fox from metal gear (Cyborg Ninja). It will house 2 fuzz circuits (TK-421-x and Grand Tarkin) with HPF and LPF on the TK and usual tone controls from the Tarkin. It will have 3 inputs over all (in TK, in Tarkin, In clean) but can be ran with one cable into a single input (and both circuits work!). The 3rd input will have a feed from after my tuner (before oc2) into another octave/compressor and just be insane. Hopefully with this artwork - http://4.bp.blogspot...Bbackground.jpg - and of course, a single LED on the Ninja mask, Far too excited for this! So come on, get yer cogs oot!
6. Bitty pricey - why not get some LED's and power them a standard 9v supply? I've seen a board on here with red and blue LED's - looks excellent!
7. I got my George L's from HotRox UK. Good service and arrived quickly
8. Very awesome. Nice tone too
9. Ou7shined aka Osprey Guitars. Got my custom looking amazing. The attention to detail is amazing.
10. This should be the last version of this board... I've got a few new items on the horizon (Sansamp vt deluxe, COG custom super fuzz, Deep Impact - providing they continue the recent trend!, and Bass Whammy when it's out). Thinking about adding a 2nd octave too (again - probs COG). So be building onto the large board again soon.
11. Theres some cool stickers you can buy too. But i do like this idea... Currently just using photos from my phone
12.
Finished my latest board having just received my new COG Knightfall & pedal interface from Tom. The board is a modified SwanFlight case - extra under-board bracing and the standard naff carpet covering replaced with proper velcro (basically, how they should be supplied in my opinion) The interface cleans up the board quite a bit and also has a DI feed from the Sansamp if needed. Not got round to setting up the Knighfall at gig volume yet but will have a better idea after the next rehearsal later this week.
Saw this on FB earlier. Very nice cabling and a great board to boot!
13. I've been interested in picking one up again - lost one on ebay on Saturday by £10. But I've set a price point in my mind, and I'm not going beyond it (as hard as it is!).
14. Good plan. We got my old one a cowbell on his 21st.
15. Absolutely amazing cabs these. Great price too!
16.
I'd say make sure you try one before you do anything rash. I had convinced myself that a Combustion was for me, until I tried one in the Gallery. I've got quite small hands, made worse by damage from a bike accident, and the gaps below the 5th fret on the E and B were just too uncomfortable.
Yeah defo think i'll play before jumping head first. Though my hands are massive, just a fan of thin necks
17.
Pain in the arse for two reasons - fixed cable. And AAAs!! Still, for the money, you can't really complain. I'm umming and arring about whether it will be a good way of keyboards to the PA...
Also true. If you're like me, and get wrapped up in cables but dont move 50 miles away - it's not bad!
18.
Has anyone seen this? http://www.gak.co.uk...CFTDMtAod8x4ApA The price seems almost too good to be true. Doubt I'll be shedding my x2 any time soon, but I do like to keep abreast of these things!
I've got one. Decent little unit - pain the arse having a built in cable. Seem to get pretty decent range out of it too!
19. Pic attached.
20.
There is an ABZ5 in the classifieds...
Drooool. How chunky are the necks?
21. Cheers guys! My other basses are 34" 4 stringers, strangley tempted my a 5 string What happens regarding strings? I imagine standard strings wouldn't work?
22. Sup guys, I'm gassing for a dingwall bass just now. They look amazingly pretty and are interesting me pretty heavily! Only thing; concerned by the fanned fret system. Whats it like? How is reaching the high frets? Any basschatters in Scotland with one i could have a play on? Possibly long shot but hey - dont ask, dont get! I'm headed to london in May so was going to try and hit bass direct then, also headed to Moffat in March so with any luck, one will be there!
23. Hey guys, Got this a while ago with the aim of learning to play fretless. Didnt really work so its been sat in the gigbag for a while. So be aswell letting someone else have a go! Its the 5 string version which is fretless. Bit strange to see and play (but you get used to it!) and it sounds pretty decent on its own (pretty like an upright i'd say?) - i loved putting fuzz through it. Great fun! I haven't seen many in the UK so wasnt sure about price so i've based on ebay costs (from states - postage/customs). As mentioned - has gigbag and the components for sitting or strap use Payment by paypal gift//bank transfer - thanks!
24. I use George L's and lava. Both pretty expensive but the george's are easier to make in a hurry!
