1. If its anything like my Korean Squier from this era, it'll be a peach. Have a bump.
2. If you listen closely to 'There Is A Light', you'll notice at least three bass fluffs. His main influence back in the day was Mark King apparently! ALways remember trying to get his P bass sound out of my Marlin Sidewinder when I was a lad. The man's a legend.
3. Christ, that looks gorgeous. If i didnt have 3 P's already I'd have this in a shot. If it isnt gone by the weekend I may put in an offer. Ive had SQ's and JV's and really regretted getting rid of them. Great price to boot.
4. Yes, their customer service really is top notch. Had the same experience.
5. Can someone please go into Immediate down Sydney Street and tell Fat Ian to get down there, a great ska bass player and Brighton legend. Tell him Hardy recomends it.
6. Rounds on Jazz since 1988, Flats and Rounds on P, a constant battle.
7. Yep, wack the old scratchplate on and you could achieve £500 upwards for it.
8. A plectrum and can of Red Stripe from Hooky when he was in Revenge. Loads of signature sticks from Fyfe Ewing when he was in my band, signed Tommy Stinson CD.
9. I had this problem when I installed some new pickups on my P. Bought some copper tape off ebay and shielded the cavity and back of scratchplate. Problem well and truly solved.
10. yeah, i emailed Jim Dunlop customer service and they sent 3 battery covers! great service
11. Sims did a nice job on my Jazz scratchplate
12. For flats I'd def recomend La Bella FL's, I have a set of TI's which I bring out every now and then but generally too floppy for my taste, lovely rich woody tone though. The La Bella's would suit your punky pick playing and also sound boodiful and Jamersonesque when you play wth your fingers, they have a nice tension IMHO
13.
Not sure where this should go, its a recording, but also a release lol! My band have been involved in this New Order Tribute Album "Ceremony", with 24hr Service Station record label. www.myspace.com/ceremonyanewordertribute www.newordertribute.com we have covered two New Order songs - "Ceremony" and "As It Is And When It Was" be interested to see what you guys think, it was supposed to be released in Oct/Nov but now looks like Feb to coincide with Wilson's Birthdate.
Are you The Bedford Incident? If so nice job on As it is when it was, in the top three of my fav New Order songs. Spectacular band back in the day. I would love to have been on that you lucky buggers
14. Bump for an awesome cab. For the size and weight, they sound absolutely massive.
15.
I just wanted to add my experience of going from a normal sized head with two 2x10s to a lightweight head and lightweight 2x12 single cab solution (Markbass LMII and Schroeder 1212L 4ohm). Couldn't be happier, best FOH and on stage sound I've ever had and enough volume to bludgeon my loud 7 piece covers band if they get too unruly. I guess it either works for you or it doesn't. My only tiny complaint is the visual element 'cos let's be honest a big old head on top of a 6 or 8x10 is a sight to behold. If we had roadies and the associated transport I'd be going for a dirty great big Aguilar rig, but as we don't, my back and car are more than satisfied with the current solution.
ditto
16. mmm, received mine yesterday, gave it a fair go and then returned it today. Could get a pretty similar sound out of my MXR.
17. Stop teasing me with this thing! Is this the bass used on the Last Thee Standing recordings? If so it has an absolutley monster tone, not sure what else you were using with it. Very tempting
18. Public Image by PIL is pretty much the same all the way through, an absolute stonker from Jah Wobble. One of my favourite bass lines ever.
19. The paint is very thin though! dents very easily. Supposedly helps with the tone, not sure how true that is. Nice basses all the same.
20. I have a 1212L which I purchased direct from Jorg roughly this time last year. Its great in every aspect, has served me very well and gets compliments on sound everywhere I take it. I've owned all sorts of cabs from Ampeg to Peavey and this blows them all out of the water. Difficult what to say really, I took a leap of faith when I ordered mine and it payed off. Hope Jorg can bring it back in line.
21. Well, I still suggest the 1212L as before, superb cabs even though Jorg's copping some flack at the moment! Really light, punchy and loud and couple very well with Littlemarks
22. They look great. An overwound Thumper! that must sound massive. I just installed a Trad and there's plenty of output.
