2. Hi there I have a Korg AX3000B for sale. I've used it on and off for the past 5yrs, but never gigged it. The unit is in excellent condition, but no packaging box. Does not come with a PSU. £70 inc delivery in the UK. PM me for more details.
3. Hi Guys, Thanks for all your replies and PMs I will look over them this weekend! I've been a bit busy; building a patio, fence and terrace for the past few weekends!
4. Hello, I'm getting married this August and we really want a band to play at our wedding! It's being held in Kenilworth in a big Victorian Hall, its all organised by us and we're just wanting a big party - we aint into all that hotel wedding bullshit ANYWAY I thought this would be a good place to put out some feelers for guys in bands or for those who could recommend a band to us! Ideally they'd be able to play everything from The Beatles to Saxon lol but somewhere inbetween would be be OK. We would also be interested in using your PA for the music whilst you are not playing. So please get back to me either on here or a PM Cheers!!
5.
I stand corrected.... was told in the shop, no amps....
couldn't you just buy one of those cheapo plastic kazoo's on the counter and say the bass amp is for that??
6.
Beware of this. Very good if you want an instrument, but you can't buy amps and suchlike on it.
not entirely true, but you can buy associated goods with an instrument. Just thought it looked like a good idea rather than saving up for several months Eligible items Take it away, what you can and cannot buy Take it away loans are designed to assist individuals with the purchase of new or reconditioned musical instruments. However the following associated goods and services may be included as part of the loan, provided that these items are purchased at the same time as the instrument itself and can be supplied by the retailer at the point of sale. * Drum heads * Drum sticks/brushes * Effects pedals * Instrument amplifiers * Instrument cases * Instrument cleaning materials * Leads * Metronomes * Mouthpieces * Music/instrument stands * Mutes * Plectrums * Reeds * Rosin * Sheet music * Shoulder rests * Silencers * Stools * Straps * Strings * Tuition * Tuners
7. Just noticed this scheme - Take It Away run by the arts council. It looks pretty good to me, up to £2,000 interest free loan over 9 months, starting off with a 10%deposit. Think I might do this later in the year, will get rid of the waiting to save up for some new toys! I've only just seen this scheme advertised so sorry if this a double post as I can't find any info on old the scheme actually is, but looks like it is still running.
8. Some more gigs lined up for us. We'll be heading up to Leeds and down to London over the next couple of months, with a few more gigs hopefully on the way. Confirmed dates so far... 18 Mar 2010 The Green Room with "Riotbox" Sheffield 31 Mar 2010 The Grapes with "Conversation" Sheffield 14 Apr 2010 Shed Bar LEEDS 25 Apr 2010 The Dublin Castle Camden, LONDON 30 Apr 2010 The Grapes with "Riotbox" Sheffield What's The Dublin Castle like, we've heard it is good, what sort of crowd can you expect on a Sunday night? Cheers!
9. PM'd and Spinal Tap are easy within my top 5 favourite bands
10. What sort of thing did you have in mind? I live in Sheffield and wouldn't mind doing something totally different. Have you got a drummer already lined up?
11. Hello! My band The Bedford Incident are in the process of organising a tour of sorts across England and Wales. We have our soon to be finished and released album to promote and also our appearance on a New Order Tribute Album. If anyone here on Basschat is interested in either putting us on or arranging a gig swap (we are based in Sheffield) then please get in touch! Please take a look at out myspace THE BEDFORD INCIDENT Brief band biog: Hailing from Sheffield The Bedford Incident draw on a cosmos of diverse influences. Fusing together the energy of guitars, bass and drums, with science fictionesque synthesisers, sharp-witted lyrics and heartfelt orchestration; this five piece create uplifting, out of this world sounds, aptly once reviewed as "sounding like Jarvis Cocker fronting The Flaming Lips", and “writing the best songs coming out of Sheffield right now”. Over the past 18 months Jamie (vocals & guitar), Kirsty (guitar), Laura, (keyboard & vocals), Alex (bass) and Stephen (drums) have been busy honing their spirited and memorable live act throughout the North of England and further a field, including a performance for Alan McGee at his famous London club night Death Disco, culminating with a live session for BBC Radio. Jamie and his fellow cosmonauts have been forging “Joyland” The Bedford Incident’s new album to be released on Sci-Fi Records and setting course to play through the UK to promote it. As well as their own album they are also being featured on US label 24 Hour Service Station’s release “Ceremony: A New Order Tribute” featuring; The Cloud Room, Detachments and many more to be released February 2010.
12. I'd tell the band leader and then let him tell the others, easiest way to do it. I can't imagine ringing several people up all to tell them I've quit the band, it would become tedious by the last member and all would be just weird awkward conversations. Ring the leader up, tell him you want out and let them know that you'll play any remaining gigs with them (if you want to). Best to have a plan and make the points you want to get across else the guy on the other end of the phone could end up going on and and on!
13.
It's worth listening to if he's got it. Also worth reading for the sleeve notes by Tony Wilson. There was another tribute compilation done by a load of British bands awhile ago, but it wasn't half as good as the aforementioned US version.
I'll see if he has that one too, I like good tribute albums, stripping a song right down then building it back up. Ever since we did it I've been thinking of alsorts we could do One thing I forget to mention is that the vast majority of profits from this tribute are going to the Tony Wilson fund to support young musicians.
14. Cheers Jerry - glad you liked it! I think this one is mostly US based artists, but there's a few of us from the UK. No I haven't heard that one, our singer probably has as he's a HUGE Joy Division/New Order fan - I'll see if he has a copy.
