1. Hi there, bought one of these new in the day (940? 924DS (Dark Stain)... more expensive than a Fender (probably due to the through-neck construction)! Great fretless tone.. the pups are a single coil design, despite the size, hence the hum... just like a Jazz. Great playing bass, really fast neck with an ebony board. Lovely, great value at the asking price.
2. OOps, spilt my... beer... stunning bass at a VERY, VERY good price... if you'd like the contents of my garage (have to double check but I believe an excellent collection of Beany Bears and other houshold 'essesntials' would be available), happy to deliver... anywhere. Gorgeous bass.
3. Currently custodian of a TB-1200 head... all I ever wanted was a Bassman that was 1. Loud enough for all applications: 2. a tube head where the big bottles didn't go soft in the second set and so lose definition/crispness... BINGO Newer Fender amps really have come a long, long way.
4. If micro/lightwieght and 'the sound or your bass' are the pre-requisites then try an Acoustic Image head.. not cheap, but try one and you'll get why... I use the Clarus (300W into 2 Ohms minimum, 200w into 4 and 120 into 8: 5lbs) with an EA Wizzy 110 for rehearsals/practice/studio and the Focus 2 (600W 4 ohms: 5lbs) with a Sound Tech NS410S (4Ohms: 103dB eff,) for bigger stuff. Hell in a handbag....
5. Not strictly 100W but a Bassman 135 is the same power tube complement as the 100, bit cleaner for longer... as always it depends on the cab/s efficiency... 100w tube head with a good 215 goes a looooonnngg way. Or just buy an SVT Classic.. there, said it.... you know it makes very loud/heavy sense...
6. Peavey Tour 700 is a cracking bit of kit, used it with 2x 15 Marshall 1550s or a Sound Tech NS410s... PLENTY... Not too heavy but a real punch at volume,
7. OK if we include transport no problem (you need a van) then my old Trace 1812 stack. Bottom side of the Bi-amp is an 18" (Fane Colossus: ported), 15" (Celestion Powercel: sealed) and Hi-pass handled by a 12" (RCF) in a flare. All in one box, 55" tall and just over 110Kg (made from HDF: later 18mm Birch ply ones I had were lighter). 'Course you need an AH500 to run it (23Kg).. When I bought my original ones in '84 I had Trace flight case them...stairs NOT an option for one person... So BEST ever was two of the above at a time : Now you see where the van came in...
8. I have a Fretless version of this... you cannot spend your hard earned pennies more effectively. The asymetric neck is a joy, they balance perfectly and the tone range (quasi para) is superb, very similar in capability to a Wal but the East 5 pot option has more range; offers a killer J bass sound. Into a desk these are sublime.
9. You sir are a BAD MAN ... the bass on the other hand is an angel ... the only other info I'd need is where to get the money to buy it... For me, I own an ACG Recurve, the shape is perfect and blows the Rob Allens out of the water. Tried the 'andydye' solution... got thrashed... oh well. Best of luck. Stunning looking bass.
10. Hi there...I'm using an AI Clarus for 'kitchen' rehearsals along with an EA Wizzy 110 but this cab intrigues me as it's fives I use... would you be interested in any sort of trade for studio gear? If so what type of things are you after?
11. If you're looking to let Billy know, 'andy67' 'talks' to him regularly... might be worth him dropping in to a conversation.
12. Much made of 'Super Jazzes'... lovely; the way it should be... Had more 'Fender Style' basses (interspersed with Leo's own) than ... ended up with a US Jazz... You know it makes sense... GLWTS
13. I own an ACG Recurve.. whoever buys this is paying a 'fair' price for an 'outstanding' instrument. Unfortunately the 'system' doesn't recognise that NO Solicitor's efforts are worth as much as this bass!!! 'They' should take the bass and pay you the deficit...
14. Might be worth saying if you'll split and individually value the components... pix ALWAYS help... initial interst or not... GLWTS
15. Trying to think of the last time i 'engaed with' the bottom face of any of my gear....nup.. with LukeFRC looks fantastic in white. GAS:10, cash:0... Best of luck.

**SOLD**

I have a Recurve fretless 5.. ditto all of th eabove...these basses are sooo comfy and easy playing as well as sounding 'dog bollockular like' (recent dictionary entry i believe...)... really good deal here IMHO!!
17. Had a 924 DS Fl fretless version new in '81...fantastic basses, build quality is top notch.
18. If you've not played one of Alan's basses ( I have a Recurve 5 Freless) do yourself a favour... this looks great, love the facing timber. The asymetric neck is just sublime! Buyer will be well happy!!
19. Have a Clarus 1. sonically the dogs... I use it with (EA Wizzy 10) an ACG fretless 5 and a Fender 5 Deluxe Jazz. NOT a tube head (try an SVT CL; honestly...) but cannot be touched for what they do... natural sound; louder. I have a Peavey Tour 700 and 2 x 1 x 15 Marshall 1550s for when it gets raucous... recording or small shows no contest; the AI is awesome. GLWTS
20. I use an older Clarus for electric fretted and fretless.. fantastic for DB but no slouch on the electric bass front... all you hear is your bass!!
21. On the basis that if you don't ask.... What about a BassDoc (of this very forum)/Jim Cairnes 5 string jazz, Fiesta Red (roadworn through gigging since early nineties). It's a genuine US fender '62 reissue body with a custom made neck by Jim Cairnesvery (very dark rosewood board/figured maple neck), Just fitted with new EMG J actives (totally silent) and Schaller hardware. 17.5/18mm string spacing at the bridge.

23. It is a 940DS (Dark stain) defretted: i bought a 924 DS new around then (ebony unlined board: used with a Trace 1812 stack 400W bi-amped into a single 101Kg (19st!!!!) cab housing a 12 a 15 and an 18!!!) which i used for ages... fabby sounding basses and really well made; stupid expensive in the day.. worked for an oil company and had to save!! Good luck!
