1. Those vocal tracks are beautiful , I could ditch the rest of it and go acapella just so that you can pick the detail , I think I have a new plan
2.
There isn't any. It was a cynical advertising ploy.
Well bugger me
3. I reckon we could do that , are you going to wear the pink carnation or should I
4. I think you find I'm Spartacus as it happens Top story Debs I think 72 in the charts puts you top of the tree in the recognition stakes........................ So far
5. Ok I'll bite , are you a steeleye span tribute ? .... I'll do my best to call in
6. There are a few 'ouch' moments in there , but some great stories never the less
7. That's exactly the sort of stpries that I was thinking of
8. I don't mean that people recognise your talent ( or lack of on my case ) , just that you actually get recognised in a different place or context for being in a show or a band from a stage performance. I did a survey appointment a few weeks ago and the customer looked at me quizzically and asked me if I was in the band he saw at a pub a couple of weeks previously Yes, yes I was, it made my day in a curious faux celebrity kind of way . It's not that I now have to wear a disguise when I go to tesco or anything. Has anyone else had surprise recognition that has brought a smile to your face

A great thread , as it happens, sorted my problem aswell
10. Cheers Bud , I do get Lurksalittle involved where I can , be she knows we haven't got time this month , I was away the week before last , back at work last week , and away with them all this week , so a bit awkward to squeeze on out , so to speak , I still should get the mix comp entered , but will be rariing for the next composition comp . I will of course get the chance to listen in and cast my votes . bets of luck to you all .
11.
Cool! Meelikey. What colour is that?
In England we call that ..... brown .. (monitor calibration issues excepted )
12. Ive just started running reaper on a new windows 8 machine , it handles it really well , very smooth hardly any clicking disrupting the sound when playing and the FX seem to load instantly ,
13. I was listening to this and chuckled all the way through at the lyrics .
14. I do see a regular turnover in landlords/ managers /tenants etc there is always someone trying something a bit different to convince themselves there is money to be made in pubs , but with all the cheap supermarket alcohol it seems like very stiff competition , except for those who buy their stock from the supermarket and miss out the brewery How about using a pub to launder money , a predominantly cash business like that is rife for a bit alternative investment inflate your takings, bung a bit of dirty cash in (pay your bands ) and all of a sudden the money enters the wash .
15. liked it lots . I would have loved a soulful vocal to have worked its way in there , but a sweet sound never the less
16. Interesting idea guys , but if you cast your attention between gigs 6 and 7 the baton had a bit of TLC by manchesterguitartech.co.uk I am not sure how often your own guitars get checked out but the baton just needs playing IMO . BCers doing their thing , pick it up and pass it on , high profile is great but , lets just keep picking it up, playing it and passing it on .
17. dont forget to post up the event details for the gigs as you do them or book them , it all needs logging.
18. I too loved a lot of their stuff , did some work for Paul drapers uncle , and went to see them at a 'home' gig , at the northgate arena in Chester , a lousy sound as it is acoustically abysmal, but at their peak it was a great touch , they were the biggest band to play in the city for a long time, and possibly still hold that honour
19. For what they are worth here are the notes I made after I listened through a few times July mix notes 1 very good clean , kick a bit prominent for me, not sure on the bass part or the crackling on the bridge I thought the guitar could a bit more , the second bridge had lrics that should heve been cut and a new bass part , interesting police car at the end , very light cymbal work lets this down , 2 I thought more of as rerecording than a re-mix , a great piece of work however 3 the drums were lacking but nice vocal treatment apart from the delay bit in the middle, overal a bit thin . 4 a bit much reverb on the vocal and the drums a bit lacking in umph 6 difficult to listen to TBH , the vocal was great but everything else was mush with soume odd seperation , no attempt to sort the second bridge 7 all bass and off centre vocal , the ride is lost and the bass line line seems a bit odd rhythm guitar is buried , it seems very disjointed . The drum hits are missing continuity . 8 warts and all on this one , not really much effort in cleaning up the out take bits , no drums to spaek of , a bit bass boomy . 9 it seems a bit hollow , lead a touch low , odd noises through first bridge , vocal seems a bit detached but works ok second bridge warty bits and an added drone This month I really learnt to do loads of stuff with regard adding midi drums , this made a massive difference to the mix , after that I was unsure exactly how to make it better , I cut loads of stuff that was obviously not needed and was amazed that others didn't , I also thought that the added instruments took the song passed a mix brief. To spoil my ponderings I then sped mine up a touch as I thought it helped the flow of the piece and moved it along a bit smoother . Now, finally to really ruin my credability , I voted for my own , now this was purely down to the fact I honestly struggled to interpet a better job , I say that not as a smart arse , just that as a learning curve I was unsure which held the detail I was looking for to improve on mine, and after the work I had done my version it was just in my head , if that makes sense. I would love to do the Kit one Si , and if it were another 2 monther maybe that would give Skol a chance to get stuck in , August for me is a real push with family holidays and work going bonkers , but what will be , will be . Very generous of all involved to offer it to us .
20.
Thanks for all the nice comments folks, It was a good month and some great tracks up there. It was a bit of a tough call voting, but I got there in the end, someone really surprised me with something out of the blue. 70's was a great time for clubs and tripping over handbags (not mine) in search of one night of beer goggled fumbles.
Congratulations Garry , a great track , and a worthy winner ( it got my vote ) I managed to get a vote at the death which was a real treat , I am most grateful , I must have done something right
21. I am away tonight but depending on what time I get back I might make trip , are tickets on the door ?
