  1. If it makes you happy 😁
  2. You know how to woo a crowd 😁
  3. many thanks , it now resides here
  4. Here we go then , after an outright winner was declared for January, @upside downer was over the moon with having the honour of choosing our theme this month. Its not BS to say I chuckled somewhat when I opened the message By way of an introduction upside downer mooooses... "A farmer paints stripes on her cow to increase its visibility at night and prevent car accidents if it wanders onto the road during blackouts in World War II. I wonder if Lee Marvin ever starred in a film called 'Paint Your Cow'? " RULES ... ✅ Entries must be <5 minutes and recorded between now and the deadline. ❌ No illegal samples, copyright infringements or other snide goings-on ❌ Bagpipes, well its not a belted Galloway up there , so be careful. ❌ No voting for your own entry. We'll know. And we'll shame you.. Deadline-wise, we will close the entries at midnight on the 22nd Feb , which in effect, will stretch to teatime on the 23rd, but don't milk it A line or two of blurb as usual for the vote thread will be grand. enjoy.
  5. I can absolutely relate to that video… we use the same gloves at work 😁
  6. Well there you go , the massive hath spoken 😁 well done Upsy , a well deserved victor to start the year, post me a pic and I’ll get February under way , it’s a short month, with a few days away for half term, so I for one, will need to get started a bit pronto 😂
  7. Next is a doors tribute the doors alive then blackbeards tea party then a rush tribute , Moving Pictures Joe Jackson at the end off the year ed to add bowling for soup
  8. I also have an electric drum kit at the lads , he has moved and hasn’t the room for it, so I’m getting it back . technically I do have a bit of space already , but it would be starting to get a bit of a squeeze, and as Mrs Lurks cleans the room I don’t want to make it too difficult for her 😉
  9. OK guys Dive in , a whole range of takes to this one
  10. What with festive celebrations, a new year and Burns night, what would make a great inspiration for the January Composition Challenge? After a tie between @Al Nico @Leonard Smalls and @Chiliwailer , I did a quick first past the post photo challenge, and the winner who decided the answer was... ...young Lenny who noted "Tis a Raasay cask strength..." So that's the inspiration, what did we make of that? well have a listen through and place your 2 votes in the appropriate boxes 1 @Leonard Smalls 'Tis a musing on whether it's best to be eternally just comfortable, or to venture frequently outside your comfort-zone. 2 @Al Nico After a few whiskeys, I like to dance. 3 Lurksalot Rock and roll, err maybe not! 4 @Baloney Balderdash A mystical glass of whiskey, with a quite oriental side effect : 5 @upside downer This fella has had more than enough of the ol' hooch. The shine has gone from his marvellous moonshine days and too many hangovers and trouser accidents mean that the firewater has got to go down the plughole. @MoonBassAIpha Reflections on a sad year, a roaring fire and a warming dram Well there's bagpipes in there , and they work very well! so lets say 2 votes each this month och aye great spread from riotous to reflective start the year off I reckon voting will end at midnight on 31st January
  11. how long do you need 😁 I can hear the clanks and groans of a PC firing up !
  12. don’t panic , me and Mrs Lurks have had a pre-anniversary day away in Blackpool and have stayed over*. so I will be back just after lunchtime. * not IN actual Blackpool obvs, I mean, we have standards, no, we have taken a room on an industrial estate a few miles out 🙄.
  13. I need the space to put a leccy drum kit in so bash some offers in 😁
  14. well, it's Scottish and scotch and who doesn't think that inspires dancing .... So rock and roll guys and gals, or is that pushing it a touch ? it's the Raasay Reels midi sounds on the keyboard for the most part , and I guess the fiddle isn't that accurate, but you'll get the drift , bass and acoustic were real instruments though , in Reaper and roundly slapped and smothered with Ozone
  15. Photo of hard case added. its still in the loft ! it is cloth covered, and while its not an ABS type flight case, it is certainly more than just a gig bag. hope that helps
  16. Many thanks I’m normally not too far out on the money , but I think I’ll dig out the case for this in the week and put up photos, as I may be a touch loose with its description
  17. I think some of the production values of the entries are just incredible , at a level that I could only dream of , but at my level, it’s great fun and a continual learning curve, but I do understand that it might seem intimidating at first to some.
  18. Congratulations @skankdelvar a fantastic well worthy winner , great to see you in the challenge. thanks all for another great year in the monthly recording challenge corner of the forum. here is to another one 🥂🥂cheers all Lurks
  19. I’ve got this double bass that I just don’t use, I traded a fretless Warwick for it many moons ago as I didn’t play it much , and while this has been a lovely bit of furniture , I don’t really play this either, and to be honest, really didn’t put any effort into trying it. so, there is the bass which has a pickup on in it , there is a Hercules stand, a bow and a hardcase. the hardcase is a little tatty from what I recall but is in the loft until I have to take it out , and there are marks on the fingerboard that looks like someone’s rings have made some small indents I have no real idea on its value but took a stab at the £490 number. if anyone has a more accurate idea let me know. thanks for looking
  20. the circles you are moving in are the issue , try to insulate yourself from bad influences, turn yourself around and you should stop tying yourself in knots
  21. If you have been inspired by these fine tunes , this might be of interest
  22. Does anyone need something to do over the holiday period? Well here is your chance , as the December challenge is now at the voting stage we have the opportunity to commence for January. After a tie between @Al Nico @Leonard Smalls and @Chiliwailer I did a quick first past the post photo challenge this morning and the winner was.... Mr smalls , who has contributed the following to get your lips around ... "Tis a Raasay cask strength..." RULES ... ✅ Entries must be <5 minutes and recorded between now and the deadline. ❌ No illegal samples, copyright infringements or other snide goings-on ❌ Bagpipes, really! it maybe a wee dram on show , but be careful out there. ❌ No voting for your own entry. We'll know. And we'll shame you.. Deadline-wise, we will keep the theme going and aim for breakfast time on Burns Night 25th January A line or two of blurb as usual for the vote thread will be grand. enjoy.
  23. voting is up, sorry for the delay , late one last night
  24. Its Showcase time ... or at least copy someone else time, as December is traditionally the challenge of presenting a cover, a new one specifically recorded, or any that had been recorded this year. A faithful attempt at the original, a minimalist approach or a radical re-imagining but based on another song or tune. here are the entries showing their... ...Factor Have a listen and vote for your favourite 3 1 @Al Nico A pop/disco track transformed into a future rave disco remix, 2 @SH73 This month a short one, Napalm Death cover You Suffer. All instruments and vocals played, recorded, mixed etc by me. It's the shortest song ever, Napalm Death is famous for. 3 @Leonard Smalls I've had a go at DAF's AntiFascist anthem, Der Mussolini.... Featuring my very best German vocal! 4 @Jean-Luc Pickguard Here's my cover of Sonny & Cher's "The Beat Goes On" written by Sonny Bono before he formed U2. 5 @upside downer I've done a cover of 1-2-5 by the Canadian garage rock band The Haunted, which was a number 23 smash in the Canadian charts back in 1966 6 @lurksalot Happy Chrimbo guys this is fairly short , but maybe, for some, not short enough 7 @MoonBassAlpha Listen to Girls Talk Dave Edmunds Cover 8 @skankdelvar A Happy Christmas to you all. A great bit of fun this year , some brilliant ideas well done all let's have 3 votes each, voting will end at midnight on 31st december Happy Christmas
  25. Happy Chrimbo guys this is fairly short , but maybe for some, not short enough I am of course blaming Lurksalittle for the choice of song , but then I did have 12 months to come up with a better idea! EZ drummer with me playing bits along on the midi keys, Ibby six string thrashed on the top 4 strings , Gordon smith bass walloped on the bottom 4 strings and my singing with an overly tight G-string, Ozoned to death and strung up in Reaper. sing along , you should Know the words.
