1. Agreed, a great price, shame it's collection only as I am a smidge too far away but someone buy it!

 3. Hi all and welcome to my most excellent Ampeg SVT 2 Pro all valve bass amplifier - if you're looking at this you no doubt know how good these amps are - and this is an absolute belter! An increasingly rare made in USA version in amazing condition. This amp was bought circa 6 months ago and this is the bass amp I've desired for an absolute eternity (particularly this being the USA version)! This has a great mid range character which I''ve found you can only really get from valves, along with plenty of low end grunt and definition! The EQ makes it a really versatile amp and of course it comes with all the bells & whistles which make this a sublime amplifier. It has been re-valved in the last 12 months so still has plenty of life in them. The newer and reportedly lower quality SVT 2 pros sell new for over £1600 - save yourself some cash and get a bargain here - I really don't want to sell this one, but I am back out gigging every weekend now and as much as I love this and that thundering tone... The weight is going to be too much with my already quite fragile back. It will come in a Flightcase with the Korg Pitchblack Rack Tuner also in excellent condition. Cash on collection preferred from Saltney, Flintshire, however, it can be packaged for pick up by a courier which would need to be arranged & it will need to be fully insured. Of course I am happy to travel to deliver within reasonable distance by negotiation again. Trades wise... Well weight would be a key factor of course however... I would take an Ampeg SVT 4 pro, Markbass, Aguilar etc in either full exchange/part exchange. I haven't really got any funds to add to a trade but please hit me up. Thanks Tim
 4. Basschat legend and around pleasant guy to deal with. Ash bought my p bass off me, took a lovely trip up to Lancaster, played some of the finest basses, took his Markbass recommendation on board (thanks for that) and resisted temptation of purchasing one of those that shall not be named from him. Lovely friendly mog too. Everyone can deal with the utmost confidence.
 5. Sold my Ampeg cab to Rich, always an absolute pleasure to deal with. Top guy, top coffee and top convo.
 6. Gary is an absolute legend and got me my most excellent Markbass cab to me in time for my New Years gig, can't say fairer than that. Everyone can deal with the utmost confidence.

 8. Hi guys! I'm in the market for some Markbass cabs, but with so many different models out there (NY, CMD, Ninja, Traveller, Standard) I am left somewhat confused. Ideally I am after a 2 X 10 & 1 X 15, I'd like the models to match, I am running an Ampeg SVT 2 Pro into them and want lots of punch but warmth also. Can anybody help explain and point me in the right direction so I can get the best possible combo of cabs to get the right sound. Regards Tim
 9.
Gorgeous. My inevitable question is - how wide is the neck at the nut, please?
42.5mm from what I've just measured.
 10. Good evening All. So I'm putting up my 25 year old P Bass, sublime player, sounds awesome and is a real head turner. This started life as a PB57 black & white guard... However I've changed over a few things to get the absolute most out of this bass... It's had a Tusq nut put in and had a proper shim to get optimal action. I've replaced the stock bridge (this will be supplied) with a Gotoh 201b which just retrofits on. I've put the bridge, pickup and thumb rest on and replaced the stock white guard out with a 3 ply black white black guard, I specifically got a 50's one so it just retrofits without any additional drilling. Now... If you're looking for an absolute pristine, unmarked bass... Then stop reading now. However if you're looking for a great condition (for it's age anyway), solid, awesome playing & sounding bass then this could well be the one for you, and at a considerable snip in comparison to it's Mexican road worn relatives, I have tried my level best to get photos in with any dings, scuffs or the like in. Currently set up with D'addario Chromes. Weighs circa 4kgs or 8.8lbs (can be more accurate of required) in imperial. So not massive heavy, but not stupidly featherweight but sits nicely and is really well balanced IMHO. Comes with a a hard case which keeps the bass as it should. So... The nitty gritty... I am not in a rush to sell it, however trades for a decent lightweight 2 X 12/4 X 10 cab (Aguilar, EBS, Ampeg PN series, Markbass etc). So trade value of £500 for those. For a cash/bank transfer/PayPal etc. I will do £425 shipped & insured or alternatively you can come to Chez McHale have a coffee and be shouted at repeatedly by my Bedlington Terrier, Winston, for the princely sum of £400. Any questions please ask away. Regards Tim
 11. Absolutely gutted you're in Peterborough otherwise I'd be dropping you a PM about a trade.
 12. Just bought a Yamaha off Kev. An absolute pleasure to deal with and made the transaction completely pain free. Thank you for your hospitality, people deal with confidence!
 13. Exactly what it says on the tin (excuse the pun) + 5 screws. £10 posted to your door
 14.
If you want to change the bridge I have a Gotoh 201 under a bridge cover on my JV P. I changed the bridge because the saddles kept slipping sideways and the string alignment went all over the shop.
So is your bridge cover like a P Bass bridge cover or the Jazz Bass style?
 15. Just bought a corking MIJ P Bass... I am now wanting to do some minor upgrades. One of these being the bridge. I however want to put the bridge and pickup covers on, personal preference. A Badass is like to poke out and I think a hi-mass will be too thick to take the cover. I've seen a Gotoh 203 and that looks a likely candidate, however it seems a little bit longer than a stock bridge. Has anyone got any suggestions or am I wise to stick with BBOT? Cheers Tim
 16. Martin recently purchased a pickguard from me. Excellent communications throughout and really easy to deal with. Deal with confidence.
 17.
Shame you only want passive as ive a lovely spector I could trade 😉
I have infamously got a rubber arm... Your Spector does look rather nice ;-)....
I'm not sure if I should offer this or not? Need the money so should sell it, but this Yamaha is delicious http://basschat.co.uk/topic/272823-peerless-retromatic-b2-new-unused/page__fromsearch__1
That looks sublime, always been a big fan of Duesenbergs and the Peerless factory does send out some quality instruments, that said I'm not sure it's for me...
 18. So having purchased this little beauty at the tail end of last week from this here parish from Nik (silverfoxnik) I have had a day running it through my Ampeg and not for the want of trying this bass is just not for me so... I have amalgamated all the info from previous sellers and the previous thread and put it here so with out further ado. I am asking back what I paid for it which is £540 cash or trade value of £600 Up for grabs is my Yamaha TRB5P in a lovely Jade Green.
So a little bit of the skinny on this beautiful beast; Made in Japan 1991 model Neck through design Flamed maple cap on a maple body Ebony fretboard P/J pick ups Piezo pick up Active 2-band e.q. String spacing is 19 mm at the bridge
The electronics all work fine except that there's slightly less output from the Piezo pick up on the G string; it's not very noticeable. Also they are a little hissy if you turn up the treble all the way, but otherwise, nothing too obtrusive at all for a 24 year old bass just thought I'd mention this in the interests of full disclosure etc.
10.4 lbs, Not the lightest of basses but with all those quality parts and lovely tonewoods, I'm not surprised really. As I'm sure you know already, this first generation of TRB's were very high quality basses indeed!
Condition; It is in very good condition for 24 years old, though nowhere near mint condition, but it's still pretty Special... There aren't any fundamental problems with it either - all the electronics are fine, neck & frets are in good shape and the truss rod works fine... And Nik had it set up by Robert Vanderlinde of Levinson Guitars UK in September. The worse offender is a scratch that has gone through, which again I have added a photo of in the interest of clarity. It's not noticeable to audience and barely noticeable to player.
Reason for selling; It's a really lovely bass, and it plays beautifully. However, in all honesty, I just can't get on with the active electronics! All my other basses of late have been passive models, and despite the fact that I have had this a very short time it's become abundantly apparent I prefer them that way.
Collection/Shipping; I'm based in North East Wales, in Flintshire about 3 miles west of Chester and anyone local is more than welcome to come and give this a try.. However, I am happy to ship it (if that is your wish) via insured courier service, It will be shipped in a hard case and very well packed. Yes - I am happy to ship to anywhere in the UK and Europe.
I am happy to listen to sensible offers/trades. Trades must be passive, can be either 4 or 5 string! Preferably a Precision Bass, one of those that shall not be named, Lakland Bob Glaub etc Anyway, thanks for looking and please PM me or ask away here if you've any Q's!
Photos have been borrowed from Pete.young who was one of the previous owners, sincerely hope you don't mind.
