1. I've got a copy of Bassist magazine at home, from late 1995 - The 'For Sale' section has an ad for an RD Artist like yours, in excellent condition - £450. Old Rickenbacker 4001s seemed to be going for around that price at that time as well!
2.
How can this still be here....? Do people not realise how good these basses are? And for £275 including shipping, it has to be one of the best bargains on BC at the moment...!! Come on guys, someone buy it!
Some of us have tried!
3. I found one in a bric a brac shop in York a couple of years back. Sold it to fund something else - bad, bad move. Enjoy it!
4.
I've used them both recently as well has having owned the 700RB-II in the past and currently using a 2001RB-II (and hopefully in the near future getting some MB/NEO gear). MB500 pros: Smaller, lighter, slightly cheaper. 700RB-II pros: Bi-amping. They're both designed to make similar noises, the 700RB-II is made with less constraints in mind but the MB500 does it's job perfectly. Don't underestimate the bi-amping though, although the basic purpose is to allow you control over tweeter volume from the front panel of your amp, it does allow slightly more control with the crossover buttons than I've seen on most cabs too. The boost control is part of the power amp (I like to think of it as a power amp gain) and should be relatively similar on both as that solid state power amp growl is what makes the GK sound (and why GK have decided not to make any all-valve heads). I guess what I'm trying to say is that the 700 gives you more functionality and slightly more tonal options, but the MB is purpose built to be light and small and does that job admirably. If you need to be concious of size and weight or you're not using GK bi-amp compatable cabs, then the MB will suit you perfectly. If you're using bi-amped cabs and the size and weight aren't an issue, the 700RB will be the one.
Thank you, that's just what I was after! I'll be using my existing cabs (a general mish-mash of Ashdown and the occasional Peavey) so the bi-amping/tweeter control function won;t be an issue... I think I'm going to go for the MB500!
5. That'll teach me for hanging around! Congrats on the sale.
6. I'm going for a nice shiny new Gallien Krueger amp. Just need to hurry up and decide which one!
7. I meant to say MB500 from the beginning! I'll edit the OP.
8. I've been thinking of getting a GK head for some time now, and what with the imminent end of the Take It Away scheme I need to get my arse in gear! I originally intended to go for the 700 RB - classic amp, great tone. But I find myself increasingly drawn to the lightweight MB 500, which recently got a stunning review in BGM. Are there any GK users out there who can offer a comparison of the two? I am not really in a position to try either out but I have had experience with the 700 in the past - do the two amps make a markedly different noise? The boost facility is important I play a Spector bass, and make very loud, heavy rock/metal.
9.
Having a clearout, so this old beauty is going to have to go... It's an original 70s Peavey TNT100 bass combo, tatty externally but fully functional and with a lovely sound. I've owned it myself since the seventies and nearly all that time it's sat collecting dust and coffee cup stains in my living room! In the past year though it's been relegated to the shed as I blew out on a lightweight Markbass combo Xmas before last Yours for a measly £70, collected from Northolt (NW London) or could deliver in the vicinity for petrol costs. And just in case, also for sale (see full ads in other sections): Line 6 Echo Park £70; Line 6 Constrictor £60; MXR Distortion+ (original 70s) £50; as new Comfort Strapp w/Schallers £30; EHX Doctor Q Nano £20: Behringer BEQ700 £15; Spector Legend Classic 5 w/ Schallers & 25mm gigbag £350.
Any pics? Apologies if there are some already there but I'm at work and they don't always show up.
10.
Last Saturday at the London Bass Show I bought one of Rotosound clip-on tuners for £5 which I thought was a bargain. However, upon attempting to use it the day after, it was DOA ! Changed the battery - nothing ! It'd light up but no display at all. Even though it was only £5, and being the ever whinger that I am, I emailed Rotosound. I got a response back the next day (bearing in mind I sent the mail Sunday) and was offered a newer model to replace it at no charge. Picked it up from post office today and it's doing it's job nicely ! Rotosound could have easily asked me to send the faulty one back and they'd ship another, but no questions asked. Thumbs up to Jason at Rotosound for his swift action ! It's nice to see their Chairman/CEO dealing with customers .
I once had one of their A strings go dead on me within an hour of fitting. I emailed rotosound, again expecting to have to go through the process of sending the bad string back, etc. Instead I got an extremely apologetic reply from Jason Howe himself, and they sent out a whole new set of strings, no questions asked.
11.
E-mail [email protected] and explain the situation as above - he may have an answer and their customer service is second to none...
Do this. I was in exactly the same boat as you, I got onto PJ and had a reply within minutes! He wasn't able to supply me with a free one (which I didn't really expect anyway) bu he pointed me in the right direction and I now have a replacement Tonepump on it's way as we speak! Spector's customer service is truly second to none, they really care about their players.
12. Mate, that is beautiful. I'd be at you with trade offers if you hadn;t already stated your reason for needing a sale! Oh well, have a bump from me!
13. A bump for a truly excellent bass - I used to own the 4 string version, seriously regret selling it.
14. Wow! Look forward to seeing how this one turns out.

17.
I can. Tell me you can't play a 5 string bass after a year. Then I'll believe you.
The problem might not be that he can't play the 5 string, more that he just doesn't 'connect' with them. I have no problem playing a fiver, but I just can't ever imagine using one in a band situation, so I don't hang on to them too long. I recently had a Spector Euro 5 which was incredible but it just wasn't going to earn it's keep - so I traded it for a Spector 4 string. I have no problem with fivers whatsoever, I just feel at home with a 4. Each to their own and all that!

19. Me, 8 1/4ins (21cm). My favourite neck shape is that which can be found on the 50s Precision bass, but I also love MusicMan and Spectors. I'm happy to play slimmer necks but after a short while my body rejects them and I get cramp.
20. Say something, definitely. I've kept schtum, 'for the greater good', on too many occasions. Imagine how the guitarist would feel faced with the same situation!
21. I recently bought a Spector Euro 5 because I love Spectors, and it was a great price. I've never really considered myself a 5 string player but I like the idea and though what the hell! Despite being an incredible instrument it sooned became apparent that I had no real use for a 5 string. I advertised on here to trade for a Euro 4 and made a deal within hours!
22.
Or, if you play double bass, half a string
Seriously?!
23.
There's nothing special about that, just thump a P bass through a distorted amp.
We all know you don't particularly like Fenders, but that is a ridiculous response. I could play a Precision through a distorted Ampeg, followed by a distorted Matamp - two completely different sounds, and neither of which would sound anything like the tone in the clip.
24. There does seem to some very strange EQing going on there, but it sounds great. Love the album version too, my drummer and I like to soundcheck with that one.
