1. I've always thought so. But I've just stumbled upon this live clip of Renaissance and Jon Camp's extraordinary Dick Knight double-neck makes a remarkably convincing noise, despite the different pickups. Have a listen for yourselves (lengthy bass solo at 7:10) p.s. John Tout RIP.
2. I now have in my hands a beautiful Lakland DJ4, previously belonging to Gareth (Smaz). Gareth was good enough to meet me half way and brought along a wonderful little headphone amp so I could have a listen. Gareth even contacted me after we got home to make sure everything was ok with the bass. I can only echo what's already been said - this bloke's a credit to the forum.
3.
Still scratching my head at how good it is for what I paid.
They are great basses regardless of the price! But, for the price they are, they're unbeatable.
4. Is the OC-2 for sale? Are you willing to consider postage to the UK yet?
5.
I would have tried the Blower Box into the VT first - the VT is like an amp sim so would come last.
This. Got to be worth a try!
6. I'm going to the O2. I'm a massive fan anyway and it's been an ambition of mine for years. He's not very popular on here it seems but who knows how many more opportunities there will be to see him? Go for it I say! It's a bit unfair to say his voice is 'shot' though... 😉
7.
Yellowing with a gluey, plywoody centre to be precise - this is what it looked like: http://i169.photobuc...ockBassW-11.jpg As I understand it they were only in production for a year or so - I wonder why...
8. A rarity!
9. An absolute bargain! Fantastic basses.
10. That's such a shame! I found a BC Rich Ironbird in a CC a few years ago with a Robin Hood neck. I took a chance as it was cheap and as luck would have it the shop ad tuned the bass ridiculously high - when tuned correctly the neck settled down nicely.
11. There's something you don't see every day! I've always loved the look of the Excess, never tried one though.
12.
My only disappointment with the O2 show is the terrible bass mix...
It noticeably improved when he switched from his Mansons to the fretless Fender!
13. I'm not familiar with this exact model but I've never heard a P that didn't sound like a P.
14. I had it over Xmas! Irritating at worst. Luckily I didn't have any gigs or rehearsals so it wasn't really a bother. Mind you the itchiness and bumps went away after a couple of days so I must have had it a lot milder than you.
15. I doubt any band rehearse in shirts and ties. You would forever be remembered as 'that guy who turned up to audition in a dinner suit'.
16. I was supposed to go with my old man but he injured himself. Not too upset though, it's very much Annie and friends these days.
17. Hence the CS! It's a beauty.
18.
Peavey C5 does all that, they go for less than £200 and are really well-made: Weighs a ton, mind. Jon.
That's a Zephyr isn't it?
19. What about LTD? I think their fivers are 35" scale. And they use EMGs too
20. Veeeery interesting...
21. I used to have one of these. Miss it terribly 😦
