It really isn't that much fun being a mod anyway.
This - have been doing it since 2006 (since Bassworld) and the 'fun' isn't that frequent, but in general I know things I do both publicly and behind the scenes keep the site running as well as possible and I may have helped people use the forum/resolve disputes with others etc, that is pretty much the only reward, which for me is good enough.
Agreed but I think there are many members who have contributed much more than some of the new mods and I for one feel a little overlooked.
Postcount is only one factor but not really indicative of any suitability really is it ? Previous behaviour and general attitude is also taken into account as well. On this occasion I was not involved with any suggestions as who to recruit, any suggestions of a democratic process I find a little pointless as it's 'us' that run the site, we need to ensure we decide who is appointed a moderator and be sure they are suitable and unlikely to let the elevated permissions go to their head (and ensuring we get on with them is of course helpful). Some people have in the past been overlooked for this alone. On a more positive note, I can't wait to get GuitarChat up and running .

What is your favourite brand of strings? (Survey)
Machines replied to davidmpires's topic in General Discussion
D'Addario for me. Very wide choice of strings and reasonably priced online, also those coloured ballends (*teehee*) look fantastic ! I've got Chromes on 2 basses, XLs on the L-2000 and the T-40 will get some too, thankfully I know they'll fit as I can order extra long for the throughbody - not many brands have so much choice. -
G&L are very overlooked by most players. They top Fender on design as after all, they're the evolution of Leo's original designs. I think cosmetics may let them down though, the Tribute JB2 looks very plain and dull but would easily out class MIM and even some MIA Jazzes. If you like the SB2 and aren't bothered about its understated looks then get it, it will be a great addition and will also give you a little individuality from all the Fender fans.

I'm surprised it's not a 34" scale but for this kind of thing I don't think it'd cause an issue tonally. I think longer scales are more important when seeking out a more refined 'clear' tone, that isn't what these are for. EDIT: Damn curiosity, I want one of these now: http://www.fender.com/en-GB/products/search.php/?partno=0327602506
Yeah, I guess. I find it frustrating being an endorsee and hearing things like "don't listen to Thom, he's endorsed so he has to say that." I think so many people just see it as the artist getting free stuff and a brown nose and nothing else. Maybe someone has an endorrsement contract they can share? I'm sure it'd be interesting to some people. Mine has a confidentiality clause in it and the endorsement I turned down never got as far as a contract.
Don't listen to this guy he's paid to say this !!!!!!!!!!

Yamaha RBX775 defretted refin.

True, I guess I find a lot of advertising to be generally offensive to my intelligence.
-
I personally find endorsements to be a little odious. Things are much worse in the guitar world though, where certain famous guitarists seem to have a signature everything with their logo on just to make a few bucks (Slash, i'm looking at you !). I'm sure they don't use much of this stuff and have just agreed for their name to go on it as they know it's a good revenue stream. Even though i'm no pro, I'd be reluctant to be limited to a certain brand as I think it'd limit my creativity soundwise, but I get the feeling a lot of endorsees aren't that bothered.

Seller PM'd me to clarify which I did then left this on here, link removed. I have also updated the forum rules to include an eBay section. I would ask that anyone who spots someone posting a link contact a moderator or use the Report function rather than have a public debate about it to avoid confrontation. Thanks to the original poster for contacting me to highlight this omission .

Guess the Bass! First one correct MAY win a Prize!
Sorry to disappoint Gust0o but...

A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
A robot must obey the orders given to it by human beings, except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Laws.

You've confused me with Johnny 5 and Asimo. -

Looks like some people are taking things too seriously here. I don't think the OP has done anything out of place here except perhaps be a little sensitive to peoples reactions. A few have jumped in to follow to try and make a big scene, seen it all before I'm afraid. I would appreciate it if the bickering stopped (from all parties). Any issues drop me a PM, thanks. -
Sadowsky or Lakland ?

A Les Paul for me please. I find them unbalanced to hold but they look amazing and the tone, wowee !

I may add pics.

Yeah - I can play it naked without it feeling too cold.
He was joking, surely? Or have I missed something?
I didn't detect jest in lettsguitar's post.
-
Yes but the leather stops all vibrations. Elvis's leather bound acoustic sounded terrible apparently. Looks cool. And very cheap.
It's an electric bass. Surely the same thing would happen when you're holding the instrument ?! All that soft tissue damping it down?! It has had zero effect.
-
How does it sound? Surely you lose something tone-wise by having a bass covered in leather...
The same as before it was done, it's still wood inside !
