1. So they've cut production costs significantly but not passed any savings to the buyer ? Hmmm, don't think I'd pay £1k for a MIM whatever the quality as I'd know how much they're making on it. Still want one though .
2. Nice mixture there. Love the colour of the 4003.
3. Email Ashdown tech and ask them: http://www.ashdownmusic.com/tech/tech_service.asp
4. Maybe ask if they intended for the designs of both the 40/60 to be as versatile as they are. Were they made on purpose to emulate certain other instruments or is it just a side effect of the specification ?
5. I have 2 guitars and a keyboard for a change of scenery every few weeks. When I come back to bass its like home again.

Yamaha BBs

Me and my BB614 from 2007.
7. Me and dood are also guitar fans so we'll be involved in the inception and admin side of things.
8. I think the fundamental is key. If its your 5th fret G you might get it on 10th D but not 15th A.
9. It'll be your temporary internet files.
10. I bet if you tune the string a semitone flat the dead spot moves up the board. Its the resonant frequency the wood cancels out. Give it a try.
11. That's cheered my lunchtime up.
12. where is your settee ?!
13. Look at my avatar. That's how I roll.
14. Failure to comply will result in a very nasty out come for the perp.
15. Sorry you cant just post a link to eBay here. You must include a price for sale on here away from eBay and not invite people to bid. I have removed the link from your post.
16.
Maybe so! However Happy Jack has kindly allowed me to invade his home and try his High end 5's tonight! R
You can lead a horse to water...
17. I'm afraid I agree with a lot of people here. It doesn't matter if you find something that ticks every box you have, you'll doubtlessly tire of it eventually and sell it to get something else. If it helps - I went through a similar phase where whatever I had I wanted something else, I solved this by downgrading from an expensive custom bass (Overwater Progress III) and bought 2 cheaper, but more diverse basses (G&L L2000 & Peavey T-40). There is nothing that at least one of these cannot do. If I get bored of one I play the other for a while, when I go back to the first it's like a new bass again. I'm happier than I have been for years and have no desire for either of them to be replaced.
18. Oh my god. I just did a little wee when I saw this...
19. This sale comes with no strings attached.
20. It took 8 years of playing till I tried one. Then it was through an Ampeg SVT with an 810. Craziness ensued.
21. I've got the same turd coloured fur case too. It's seen better days but smells lovely (of the 1970s, not poo).
22. I've had a Tanglewater Contemporary J5, it was good but I wouldn't think much of an improvement over a Yamaha TRB.
23. It should be tuned E to E but factory default strings are too light and tuned to B. D'Addario do a specific set for Fender Bass VI which are perfect for E tuning (same octave as bass low E). My Dad put some on his and they're an immense improvement.
24. My dad has one of these. They're quite fun but getting the right strings is crucial.
25. If this was fretted I'd be all over it. P.S. what a great review.
