1.
Is it an overhanging fretboard a la Warmoth?
Not if it's from an EST96 as suggested.
2. I can't see how a neck with an extra fret can get the same intonation in the same neck pocket without modification. To maintain intonation it'd have to be shorter scale surely ?!
3. So basically BGM were wrong..
4.

My point is steve-soar, there seems to be a huge up-charge by Warwick for this which they seem to make out they're the good guys when I expect all they're doing is buying from another supplier who has the certification (please correct me if I am wrong anyone). I was not referencing furniture - most of mine is passed down too.
5. Got Chromes on 50% of my instruments (Encore P & Yamaha RBX fretless). I love them - but wouldn't have them if I only had one bass. Since they last so long (as long as you dont keep swapping them around to other instruments and breaking the wind like I did once !) then I think they're worth the money.
6.
I treat wood as something magical and very precious, to waste it is very sad. Stupid hippy.
I suppose it's not like the stuff grows on trees is it ?
7.
Have you seen the upcharge for the FSC woods? As Flyfisher points out, you would have to spend so much energy to earn the money to pay for the smugness it would bring in knowing you are saving the planet. It's all bollocks.
I imagine the people who'd pay extra also offset their carbon footprint when they buy tickets online. I wonder what the margins are on FSC wood - I bet it's not cost.
8. Kiwi has asked me and dood to admin it when it's live. No rush as the domain is parked for now - but I think it's better to plan properly than rush, as it won't just be a copy and paste of Basschat, p.s. Definitely easier to register new accounts than try and migrate them.
9. I've had a mixture of both types and have never been able to notice any difference.
10. Hi, - please read the forum rules. You must state a price for the sale and not just direct people to an eBay listing you've made.
11. I had a German Corvette $$ 5. It was flawlessly made, just a couple of small things put me off such as the neck profile, string spacing and absence of fret markers. I think if it wasn't for that I might even still have it. I like the product but the marketing puts me off (same as Apple).
12. My personal opinion is their prices way exceed what I consider fair for the product. Their custom shop price list is eye watering. I think they advertise too much and have so many endorsing artists I no longer pay attention.
13. Bet that sounds fat. My L-2000 mostly gets used on the neck alone.
14. Yeah my eBay notifications are configured to tell me when a T-40 gets listed, looks quite popular already !
15. Rules of the forum state you must give a price and not invite offers.
16. Tried tweaking the EQ centre of the mid pot ? (But now I can't remember if it was possible or it was pickup output you van change !)
17. Have received some sound advice. Removed !
18. I'd entertain that. PM me with pics etc
19. Looking to sell or trade my 79 Toaster. Its natural ash in good condition with minor buckle rash and otherwise excellent condition for a 33 year old instrument. Electronics are fully functional, all original and with no missing parts. Pickup rings are also intact. Reason for selling ? Not sure, it may be one of those GAS moments - looking for something with a bit more zing. For those not in the know, the T-40 was Peaveys' first bass and it has a somewhat surprising array of tones for a passive instrument of this age - the 2 humbuckers can be coil tapped individually giving you options for HH/HH, J/J, J/HH, HH/J, or each pickup alone (the bridge humbucker also has a coil selector in single coil mode). Also - the volume pots have capacitors too, meaning you get a different sound (lets top end, lots of bitey mids) with both pickups selected but one pickups volumes on zero as you do selected a pickup on it's own, crazy ! Comes with original hard shell case that's in working condition, by that I mean it's seen some life but still offers protection. It could do with some new snaplocks but other than that it's fine. Inside is a plush 70s brown fur, chic. Also has original owners manual which smells of the 1970s (make of that what you will !). Trades ? Hmm. I'm open to enticement, offer me what you will and the worst I will do is politely decline. Sale value is set at £450 - there is no depreciation on this since April ! Thus I would expect trades offered for instruments of a similar value (2nd hand, not what they were new). Many thanks, Machines. (pics to follow, work is blocking my stash - following stolen from FlatEric but other than different grain and slight pitting on bridge, is a good comparison)
20. Trevor at PMT knows his onions, why don't you want to go there ?
21. Please do, a full history would be great too as I find the T-40 forums a bit of a mess.
22. I remember Sound Control Salford having about 30+ Warwicks in stock around 2005.
23. My Overwater Contemporary J5 was heavier than my T-40 and is about the same as the MIM Jazz I had.
24.
John Myung apparently has it all in techniques from what I read about him, but he doesn't exclusively slap does he ? I dont know much dream theatre stuff. The guitar being where the bass is, is a good explanation for not hearing I suppose. But guitar ego is overriding all sense.
Myung is awesome, very modest and happy to be standing at the back out of the spotlight. He can easily shred along with Petrucci and match his solo lines. Check this out, 12 mins but worth watching through:
25. Its just progress. Crazy kids eh ?
