1. I've played both the semi hollow ASAT (borrowed from tonyf when he went on holiday) and homer's Spector at a bash in 2005.. small world.
2. When they're out i'll do my best to get hold of one to review on the site, they look very intriguing.
3. Because much like cars, you can buy the 'same model' you could 10 years ago but it's completely different (e.g. Ford Focus) but the year of production will tell some people more about an instrument than just it's name.
4. Is the app free to download for phone users ? It seems to be $3 according to their website, I think not many people would really want to use it, might be worth a poll at some point. It's not worth the effort if only a few people want it.
5. Hi Vintage, please drop me a PM. It would be better if you posted the bass and info on here rather than just a link to it .
6. We have a thread for stolen instruments: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=107324 .
7. Please be advised if you do sell it us admins want some of the action (30%), think of it as a donation to the website. Don't pay up and we'll ban you from the internet, forever.
8. Despite acknowledging the marketing is most definitely overcooked, I'd still like to have one to play with and experiment. Only I will decided if it really works, no-one else. That said, no way i'd splash out for it new...
9.
Here's a quick pic of my collection of abused and misused ... 10. My Overwater has had a few owners I think since 2002. To me - it's flawless in construction and sounds truely amazing. But - it doesn't do everything my previous basses have done in one package. It's a good all round bass, but doesn't suit everything. I don't think i'd be brave enough to order a custom of my own without expecting it to disappoint me in some way, and after dumping that much money on it - I couldn''t cope with any flaw and would end up selling at a heavy loss. I think i'm much better off having one expensive bass 'all round' with a couple of others for certain niches.
11. I agree Fenders hold their price well, I sold a MIM recently for a price not far off what they used to be new. Alas they're now a lot more and the 2nd hand price has gone up with them.
12. For a home fiddler like me it'd be great, I could spend days trying to work it out and getting new sounds. Then again - the normal Reflex is probably the same for that !
13. Hmm I think I want one, damn it.
14. Finally got round to watching the vids (whilst skipping the guitar parts). It's an interesting idea, however I expect a LOT of the sounds are so similar as to be indistinguishable from each other, thus a waste of time. I have respect for them for trying a new approach though, sounds like Sterling Ball got a bit bored of how things are currently (despite releasing a lot of new models recently). I'd definitely like to sit down with one for a few hours and see what happened - am looking forward to seeing some prices.
15. That's a stunner, it might help if you added a cash value to help people know what sort of thing you're looking to trade for . P.s. I can't see any bubinga in that bass ?
16. The simple fact that it is not slow for everyone means it is not a server load issue. It could be a routing issue between your section of the ISP and the BC data centre. Hard to actually do anything about - how long has it been an issue ?
17. Try another browser (Chrome/Firefox etc), does problem still occur ? Also what speed connection are you on, is it going through a wireless or 3G link ? Are any other sites slow ? It's super quick for me.
18. Sold ! Thanks ObscureRyan .
19. On hold pending buyer pickup tonight .
20. Looks to me like it's all types of businesses at it. They're using the VAT increase as an excuse to just bump the prices by anything they fancy. Was in Morrisons the other day where one product had gone up 40% in a week ! (Seabrook crisps if you're that interested).
21. Another bump.
22. Forum is busy today - on page 2 in only 6 hours ! *bump*
23. I suppose it's more for guitarists - I know mine has a lot of windings more than my bass string.
24. Had this bass just about 4 years. It's a 1999 MIM model (MN9 serial) in 3 tone sunburst. I added Nordstrand NJ4 pickups to it a couple of years ago (currently £140 a set). They are an immense improvement over the stock pickups and add a lot of character to the sound. Reason for sale is since buying the Thunderbird, I've not picked up the Jazz much. In pretty good nick for 11 years old - no blemish has been added to it since i've had it ! There's a minor scratch on the back of the upper horn that won't show in photos. The back of the neck has yellowed in the sun (made sure I left it there for that reason) and overall it looks lovely. Comes with 3 pickguards, W/B/W, B/W/B and a tortoiseshell one (home made). Also the neck pickup cover... Truss rod nut is semi-stripped but still useable - i'll include the tool I use for it without issue. Asking price is £350 delivered (pickups worth £75 2nd hand). I may entertain trades of basses of a similar value, let me know what you have (no obscurities though please !). Pics !
25. I must support kevthebass here. There has been a lot of squabbling about whether this is a certain bass or not.
